James tries out three classic Rab waterproof jackets now redesigned and given the Gore-Tex treatment. Find out more about the Latok, Muztag, and Ladakh from Rab here: ow.ly/iaeL50xfZW6
Hey Jim. Nice introduction to Rab's latest range of GTX jackets. I'm drawn toward the Latok for it's added durability, features and protection, as I'm quite hard on my gear. Wondered if you've experienced, or received feedback, that (particularly the bottom)seam of the chest pockets have leaked slightly when out in heavy and prolonged downpours? In your view is the peak of the Latok's hood rigid enough to withstand and protect one from heavy rain and strong winds? Read a couple of customer and web reviews, while generally positive, where they did share some reservations about the construction &/or design specifically of these two features. All the best. Bob
What happens when the rain is getting smashed from behind by the wind? Wheres waterproof then? With no back pack? Is it true that there is a jacket by Rab what is a soft-shell and it is totally waterproof as if you've got on a Gore-Tex Pro but its a soft-shell ?
The back is still GORETEX therefore you'll still stay dry from being smashed by the rain, its just not as "rugged". The Rab soft-shell waterproof you're looking for is the Rat Kinetic Alpine - its a fantastic jacket!!
