Rabat is one of the four Imperial capitals of Morocco (the other three are Marakech, Fes and Meknes). It is one of Morocco's nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the video: Oudaia Kasbah, Hassan Tower, Mohammed V Mausoleum, Chellah Necropolis.

The building that can be seen at 3:37 are the ruins of 14th cnt mosque (Merinid) built as part of a Merinid royal necropolis, called Chellah. This part of Rabat is where the Romans had a colony called Sala, from which the name of the necropolis derives. Interestingly the name of the colony lives in the name of nearby city of Sale, an example of a name traveling away to another locality. Ancient Sala was actually located in what is now Rabat, not Sale. This happened because for a thousand years, Sale was really the major city in these parts. It was only with the French that Rabat overtook Sale.

Rabat was founded by the first Almohad Caliph Abd-al-Mu'min in 1146 naming it 'Ribat Al-Fatih' meaning Fortress of Conquest because he used this fortress as a launching pad to conquer Al-andalus(Spain and Portugal)

it's actually used in many places around the Mediterranean sea because of the climate that even though cold and rainy in winter but hot and dry in summer and the blue and white colors actually help reduce the heat imagine if it was a dark color it would absorb all the heat and turn the houses into a living hell in summer

The idea behind the paint on the walls is to soften the reflection of sunlight on the walls specially in summer ,the red color used in the south of Morocco serves the same purpose too . Welcome to Morocco !!!

well , north africa is berber and the arabs live in the arabian peninsula ( very different cultures). morocco , is the land of the maures , and you can admire the moorish architecture in spain too !!!
