1. Therefore, go and say these words to Israel, This is what the Lord says: O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever. Only acknowledge your guilt. Admit that you rebelled against the Lord your God and committed adultery against him by worshipping idols under every green tree. Confess that you refused to follow me. I, the Lord have spoken! Jeremiah 3 vs 12

Beautiful Hesped ! The Rebbe ZT L , was very eidel . What Reb Shlomo AH , was trying to convey , was the Rebbe 's humanity . I had the fortune to farbreng with the Rebbe and he presented himself in the same way that he taught : as a simple Jew .He set the example about how to mecorav a Yid : with his " Lubav " - his heart . He'll be sorely missed : RIP .

+Benny Pfeiffer Meeting the Lubavitcher Rebbe was an inspiring experience for both me and my wife. It motivated us to become more religiously observant and to adopt a Torah lifestyle. I asked the Rebbe if we should move to live in Israel. His answer was that "sometimes a plant needs to be transplanted to different soil in order to grow and flourish". We took this to mean yes and made aliyah. I subsequently went on to study for and receive Semicha (Rabbinical Ordination).

Michajeru , when I was studying at Tiffereth Bochurim in Morristown, I traveled to 770 to have yichidus with the Rebbe ; it was then that I was also blessed by the Rebbe. I understand now that not all good midos are through your own hard work and effort ( B'chirah chofshete ) , but also through Hasgochah Proteus ( Divine Providence ) . Shonah Tovah.

Chaim Snow, might you know the exact date of this? My guess is that it is was either Sept. 11 or Sept. 12, 1994 and not in the summer as is stated in the captions here. It was after Rosh Hashana, during Aseret Yemei Teshuva and not erev Yom Kippur, Sept. 13 because he spoke then at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History.

I don't have an exact date, but believe it WAS in the summer rather than September, probably around the Shloshim.
@natanophir7878
@natanophir7878 8 лет назад
The Lubavitcher Rebbe passed away June 12, 1994, so the shloshim would be mid July 1994, however he was in Israel then and for most of the summer. In addition, we have the white parochet in the background which supports the assumption that it was after Rosh Hashana and before Yom Kippur as was remembered by Dovid Staloff (see below).

I remember asking reb shlomo how the labovitche rebbe was doing in front of the schul after he had his first stroke,where he retorted not well at all!I believe moshiach sends shliachs into this world to rectify and do tikun olam for all the misguided and yearning yidden.Manachem and shlomo absolutely filled that role.This was 2 months before reb shlomo went to gan eden.

Correction: The person who organized this event is Rabbi Shlomo Kugel, brother of Moshe Kugel who married Esther, the daughter of Reb Shlomo’s twin brother Rabbi Eli Chaim.

In the beginning of the video, Reb Shlomo turns to Rabbi Shlomo Kugel , the Chabad rabbi of the upper west side, and the son in law of Rabbi Eli Chaim Carlebach. It was Rabbi Shlomo Kugel who organized this event. Also on the podium is Rabbi Tsvi Blanchard. My thanks to his wife, Naomi Mark, and to Reb Dovid Staloff, who both were present, for the identifications.

Maybe this was Sept. 1994? The talk was transcribed by Dovid Staloff and printed in Chabad Lights winter 1994-5, and re-edited for Kol Chevra, vol. 8, 2001, 137-138. It was copied in Brandwein, Reb Shlomele, 219-225 and quoted in Eugene and Annette Labovitz, A Sacred Trust, Stories of Jewish Heritage and History, Los Angeles, 1994.

Dovid Staloff who was present at this event at LSS wrote to me that "It took place close to or during aseret y'mai tshuvah" and not in July... Can someone please help in corroborating this? And who is the person who introduces Reb Shlomo here?

Is that Prof. Hayyim Soloveitchik sitting behind R. Carlebach?
@dr.natanophir6979
@dr.natanophir6979 12 лет назад
Can we date this more exactly? If indeed, in July, it would have to before July 21, 1994 because Reb Shlomo was in Israel by then and for most of August. I assume it was for the shloshim of the Rebbe so it was sometime around tisha beav which maybe explains why no music. Also, was it his cousin Shlomo Carlebach who invited him to this event at LSS?

No, it is not Prof. Soloveitchik. I still wonder why the caption here says Aug. 1994 when as far as I can figure out Reb Shlomo was in Israel all of August, e.g., he performed a wedding in Jslm on August 21, 1994. Can anyone can help in clarifying the exact date?

The Rebbe died June 12, 1994 and the shloshim was in mid July. Shlomo Carlebach was in Israel from the end of July through August. If anybody knows the exact date of this appearance in LSS please post it here...

Dovid Staloff''s recollection that the time of the event was around aseret yemei teshuvah is doubtless correct. The white parochet in the background is evidence of this. Year-round, the parochet at L.S.S. was red. A white parochet was used for the yamim nora'im.

I find Shlomo Carlebach's style of talking so annoying. He is melodramatic and is trying to force an emotional response from his crowd. It's not inspiring, it's annoying.
@Instatoot
@Instatoot 9 лет назад
I think he himself was a highly emotional person and his delivery is therefore completely authentic, not melodramatic. It's why he was so effective. He was pretty damn sincere.
