Wow. Blown outa the water. Best thing I've ever listened to - and I listen to a lot. Thank you, you're both healers in your own way, the world needs you both.

Very helpful to me right now. I’m struggling with my adopted son. He has an addiction to video games, failing his school and not doing absolutely anything. Thank you both of you.

Adopted? I assume his upbringing wasn't peaceful and enriching. Honestly I have seen a lot of foster care kids and fatherless kids and many of the ones I went to school with died by suicide or drugs. Video games and failing school isn't evidence of a broken kid its a normal response to abnormal situations. I wouldn't be a straight A student with hope for the future if I was in foster care or had no father or mother Maybe it can help to accept him as he is and let him *feel* that you adopted HIM as he is not the version he is not and that he has fail3d you. This kid has probably disappointed everyone they ever met or felt they did hence why they're not doing well. Gabor Mate (anther jew!) Writes In scattered minds about parenting kids with adhd or difficult kids in general. The gift of adversity by Rosenthal also has a lot of nuggets. Best of luck

Great topic, amazing dynamic between both Rabbi's... The more you educate people, speak up, and share your stories. You will help end the stigma and G-D willing end the Stigmas.

Wow. I have so many thought. A flood of emotions and psyche that I could share. Growing up with an extremely over the top parents….. when you say that Mesilos Yeshorim & Pirke Avos was his Gemorah, is such a deep profound statement. I’m humbled and in awe listening to this podcast. Thank you Rabbis Russel & Jacobson for this. TY so much ❤️

As parents we ALWAYS LOVE OUR CHILDREN, but as PEOPLE, we don’t ALWAYS love their behaviors. There is nothing wrong with that. It helps US to help THEM to be more thoughtful in relationship with other people in THEIR lives, today and in the FUTURE. Loving does not mean the allowing of behaviors like disrespect, or lying, or physical “hitting”, for example. God created the 10 Commandments to let HIS children KNOW that THOSE behaviors HE SAID NOT TO DO, were to keep the Hebrew children “ALIVE”, 1st of ALL! As the Apostle Paul said in 1 Timothy, chapter 1, “LAW IS FOR LAWBREAKERS” , and children, who are very much, “lawbreakers” of a sort, must be taught that THAT IS TRUE WHEN YOU ARE LIVING WITH OTHER PEOPLE. LAW PROVIDES PEACE, ORDER, AND MUCH LESS CONFUSION, so that everyone can even have a “pleasant day”. LAW IS GOOD. IT IS NOT “THE ENEMY” OF THE PEOPLE. In your home, at work, in school, in government, LAW (or your “rules” at home) provides stability, and can limit the wasting of much precious time, when everyone KNOWS what DIRECTION we are all allowed to go..or not.

I was married to an evil person, a woman from a broken home, who had no concept of marriage. But only a concept of what she wanted and when she wanted to do it. Our neighbors urged me to grab the kids and run, run, run to leave a woman who may have had a boyfriend. She certainly had no interest in marriage, the same as her selfish divorced parents.
