I cried in joy listening to the description of the exalted Jesus as stated by the Rabbi scholar you quoted. For I know in my heart and soul, the Jesus is all that and infinitely more beyond our comprehension now or ever. What I don't understand about Jews not believing Jesus is the Messiah,..the Torah or old testament has some 300 prophecies about the Messiah. Jesus is the only man who ever lived that fulfilled every prophecy. So what are the Jews expecting?

Jesus is Israel! The only true Israelite who obeyed God fully, without sin! Therefore He is truly Israel! If one binds himself to Jesus, they become Israel as well, in covenant relationship!

I believe the Jews were not happy with Jesus and the implications. The story goes they were expecting a mighty warrior and the heavens to come down and smite the Romans and other oppressors to give Abrahams undeserving brood the promised lands forever. This has yet to come so maybe they felt that God has neglected them or even forgotten his promise to Abraham. Funny thing though, in Revelations he will return to smite everyone so they would have gotten their wish, had they not rejected Him.

For a jew to come to Christ they must be willing to place everything that makes them a jew on the altar of sacrifice, just like our Lord gave Himself up entirely on the cross. Since they have been endowed with special blessings and spiritual gifts, their test is even greater that ours. I stand in awe of the glory of the cross. Its just ironic! The sad part is that many Jews who do not accept Christ will never see the glory of God, unless God opens their eyes. This is why we Christians must pray for the salvation of the Jews.

I agree with you Sam. The Rabbinic Jews can’t allow themselves to believe that Messiah has come: “So that the scriptures may be fulfilled”, even until his reappearance. I believe they both see and understand what the scriptures say, and know full well that it refers to Jesus. But they will not say so. But eventually they will!

I've just checked Isaiah 52-53 in the Dead Sea Scrolls translation. It makes it obvious that it is the suffering of an individual person (clearly Jesus) foretold, and not the suffering of the entire Nation of Israel. The word "HE" ie the Suffering Servant - the future Sacrifice sent by God to redeem sins, is used all the way through. Isaiah 52: 13 Behold, my servant will deal wisely. And HE will be exalted and lifted up, and will be very high.14 Just as many were astonished at you (HIS appearance was marred more than any man, and HIS form more than the sons of men),15 so HE will cleanse many nations. Kings will shut their mouths at HIM: for they will see that which had not been told them; and they will understand that which they had not heard. Isaiah 53 "4 Surely HE has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered HIM plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.5 But HE was pierced for our transgressions. HE was crushed for our iniquities.The punishment that brought our peace was on HIM ; and by HIS wounds we are healed.6 All we like sheep have gone astray.
