Recently went a few weeks ago. Brought food for the rabbits, and plenty of water for me since it was around 33c that day. It was a really incredible hike around the island. Lots to see, and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of tourists, both japanese and foreign, but once you start exploring the island it becomes a really calm solitary experience very quickly. Honestly one of the biggest highlights of my trip. Well worth the visit.
Thanks for your comment😄 Under the current island rules, I don't think we can protect or treat the rabbits because they are wild. People who come will just have to watch out for each other. We are also concerned about this matter, so we are going to ask the administration about it in the future. Thanks for caring about the rabbits🐰
Thanks for the detailed look! Those two bunnies sure are very cute. There are just too many cute bunnies out there for me to rank them😂 Thanks from the Netherlands🐰🐰
Thanks for the comment. Volunteers feed the rabbits, change their water, and educate visitors on how to interact with the rabbits. As for dealing with injured rabbits, I am afraid that they are not currently doing so. However, it seems that the Ministry of the Environment, Takehara City, local residents, rabbit lovers, and others are meeting to discuss how to deal with the situation. We hope that the environment surrounding rabbits will gradually improve.
Very helpful. Im planning going 1 day trip from Hiroshima in March. I have seen videos of people riding bikes, is it possible to rent a bycicle in the island? 😊
Thanks for the comment! You can rent a bike at the hotel mentioned in the video.🚲 ---------- Guests staying at the hotel Electric: 600 yen / 2 hours Normal: 400 yen / 2 hours Day visitors Electric: 800 yen / 2 hours Standard: 600 yen / 2 hours * Day visitors are required to pay a deposit of 1,000 yen per bicycle. ---------- In Japanese, here is the hotel's blog.🔻 www.qkamura.or.jp/ohkuno/blog/detail/?id=53260 Have fun! Greetings from Taiwan! Hi, thank you for your two vedios in 大久野島. Next month I will visit this island as well. I would like to know what kind of food I can bring to the rabbits. And want to know where I can buy this vegetables and animal feed in Hiroshima. Sincerely,
Thanks for your comment from Taiwan!! First of all, I heard that leafy vegetables are better than carrots for feeding rabbits. There are several supermarkets near Hiroshima station, so you can buy vegetables there. ↓ maps.app.goo.gl/edeAWGQ82UH4fkDK6 maps.app.goo.gl/Vtx49cbz6yseyYKq8 maps.app.goo.gl/L3V53uq856VkLe9y7 The first one is the closest to the station, but the second and third stores are bigger. Secondly, it seems that there is no place near the station that sells rabbit feed. We too bought it at large stores in the suburbs and at Internet stores. For smaller quantities, they are sold at the ferry terminal in front of Tadanoumi Port. 01:30 Watch the video here. Enjoy your trip to Japan🐰
Hi! Thank you for sharing the information about the supermarket store. I went to the second one you provided, and I spent only 170 Japanese dollars to get 4 packs of sliced lettuce mixed with carrots. And today, I went to the rabbit island; they are so cute, they just keep chasing everyone when passing by. Finally, I gave my remaining food (I bought another rabbit feed at the 忠海港待合所) at the harbourfront due to lack of time. It was a nice experience to see so many rabbits, interacting with them, and the beautiful scene of 瀨戶內海.
Thanks for coming to Hiroshima. So glad the supermarket was helpful. 🤗 I'm really glad you had a good time on Rabbit Island. Have a good trip and enjoy Japan!!
These are the two places to eat on the island, but I don't think either of them offer vegan menus. maps.app.goo.gl/ewJ5nVYeBMAaS1a28 maps.app.goo.gl/GJ9SCxLZwUiaqAhF7 So it is better to bring your own lunch.
