As a millennial, this is the only Harley I would consider riding. Sporty and affordable - qualities Harley needs in more its offerings. I bought one 2 weeks ago, and I love it.

I bought one a few years ago. I still have it and still love it. Too bad it got discontinued. It got a lot of hate from the Harley employees when I went to buy one and that seemed to be a common issue around HD dealers per the internet. Who knows but I am glad I bought mine.

Yesterday I went to HARLEY HEAVEN in Ringwood (Melbourne, AU) to check out the Street 500. I've to mention, that I'm completely new to the Harley 'community', nor I have any experience with clutch and gear. (two left hands syndrome 😂). However, I changed my mind and now consider the Street Rod 750 as my entry level H.D bike, as it seems a bit more ready to jump on it, whilst you have to take more money in your hand to personalise the 500. I've watched heaps of reviews about the Street Rod and thanks to this video, I've made a decision and will treat myself with a Rod 😎🤘..

I JUST got this bike myself. I started on the 2015 model for my first Harley. After making the swap to this, its night and day ride deference. I put nearly 10k miles in 2 years of Montana Biking on my 2015 Street (daily rider given weather conditions). Fist time out and i noticed that turning, that want from the bike to "go somewhere" has Rabid puts it. Took and couple corners but it feels soooooo good now. This is truly what the Street should have been. Feels like they rushed the first model to get it out there and then took the right amount of time on this bike. Also have to say I agree with the video, only rub is the foot peg placement, which is minor and just take some time to get used to the new positions.

This bike really should have been the way to start the Street series, had it been there would be larger portion of these on the road.

I like this street rod 750. For me I compare it in the same catagory as a Triumph Thunderbird 900, Bonneville and BMW r nine T. For a second bike very interesting and I think fun to ride. I am about 6.2ft but in comparison to my body length, my legs are short. Would be interesting to ride this bike. Is it quick enough For doing 70 to 80 mph on the highway? Love the looks of this bike. I want one in Olive green.
@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 5 лет назад
It is plenty fast for highway use. I owned a standard Street 750 and it could get to 115MPH quick enough but cruised fine at 75-80 down the interstates.

I rode it today...lots of low end torque. In switching from a 1985 Kawasaki 454 ltd..the controls have similar placement so it was a smooth transition. Do you think this has enough power for a 220 lb rider and a 150 lb passenger?

@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 5 лет назад
I am six foot tall and it is a bit small for long range rides. If you have longer legs then it would be a bit on the odd side as it is a bit on the off centered side.
@UncleDon226
@UncleDon226 5 лет назад
Part of the reason it is more powerful than the street 750 is the cylinders have been bored +0.050" over. The street 750 has a bore of 3.350 inches, but the street rod has a bore of 3.400 inches. They both have the same stroke of 2.6", so technically this isnt 750cc's- its around 773cc's.

Good review. I kept burning my leg on the pipe while standing still with it. I am 5' 9'ish and the pipe is too far out there for my build.
@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 7 лет назад
Harley Dave I do agree Harley needs to tuck that pipe in better. my build allows me to stay away from it. I do tend to one foot stop as well on my left side and holding my right leg in riding position and that helps as well.

lean to your left side, thats what I do, after rubbing that pipe enough its second nature.... but its a classic street and there's a good amount of heat pouring off of it haha.

The Night Rod has a history with dumping tons of heat out as well. That is where I learned to just stop with my right leg up and away in the riding position.

I'm 5'6", I just lean to the left. I just bought a 2018 street rod and it being my first bike and I have been enjoying this bike so much. I weigh about 120 pounds and have no issues controlling the bike. Took about a day and a half to fully get used to, but now I feel pretty confident on it.
@rippin187
@rippin187 7 лет назад
Would you rather have the streetrod or the new Roadster 1200?
@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 7 лет назад
Well that is the million dollar question as both are fun rides. I believe that with the Roadster if it had the more of the upswing in the exhaust as the 1200R of yesteryears it would go to the Roadster as you could get the turning performance with that low end punch of the Sporty Evo. But as they sit stock the 750A wins as you can take corners on either side with plent of lean angle and fun.
@rippin187
@rippin187 7 лет назад
Rabid Hedgehog thanks for the reply! So we established that both in stock form, the StreetRod is the better cornering machine. But what about straight line performance/acceleration?
@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 7 лет назад
In a straightline right off the line the Roadster will have it, in the top end the higher rev of the 750A will allow it to catch back up. So if you're looking for the stop light to stop light hits the Roadster has it.

@@RabidHedgehog That's a shame. One of our most popular bike vid guys has a Harley dealer in reach but always 'refuses' to ask for a test ride, saying 'i'd love to ride one one day' or 'Ill get round to it one day'. Briton's know Harley have upped their game of late so it's very annoying, and their intro of affordable 700's, and their cheap (£340) after market can for some exhaust sound is good. Come to think of it I don't think I've seen a Harley review from my favorite UK bloggers. They review everything else. Both Harley and Triumph have equal provenance so it doesn't make any sense.And Triumph have done many homages to Harley and in their current line up too.

The perfect HD to park in your garage. Putting it in your driveway on a sunny day will make your neighbors jealous. Most other brands are built for riding only, but the Street Rod is just as (if not more) satisfying while parked in front of non-motorcyclists. The import bikes and indians tend to lose value as they accumulate mileage, but this is a true Harley,......so look at it as an investment. HD has 115 years of contineuos service to the motorcycle enthusiasts unlike Polaris that shut down the Victory brand when the economy took a downturn, and their Indian brand may be the next victim. Buy the Street Rod and you will have a bike that you can ride or just choose to put in the garage as a conversation piece.
@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 5 лет назад
Well unless it is other Harley owners who will spit upon you and your fake bike basically... That is where the up hill battle is in this. Outside of HD riders would like it, but the core not so much.

How would you compare the power to a Guzzi V7?
@RabidHedgehog
@RabidHedgehog 4 года назад
This has more than the Guzzi V7 by about 10-12HP due to the advantage of the liquid cooling. Engine also revs a bit better delivering a little bit more thrill. V7 is not going to win a speed contest, but it does ride better than the Street Rod and handles on par.

Why the flying fuck does Harley only put the good forks and brakes on bikes which had to be designed for people whose shins were blowed off by a Japan man's machine gun? I wanted to like the bike. I mean, I REALLY wanted to like this bike. I like small engine, revvy lightweight gofast bikes with good brakes and good suspension, and I like American made stuff. This, however, doesn't cut it for normal sized people who want to ride for more than ten minutes, who aren't contortionists, and don't have a personal chiropractor on standby. Seriously, I'd like to see the person they used to model the riders triangle on this bike, and the Roadster.

I guess I need to make said statement more clear. Harley motor company ; we believe if we are reading these corp. balance sheets right ; has about 500 million dollars "more" debt, than the 1.6 billion as reported. We believe is still true the last CEO of HD depleted most all the extra funds from the off-shore bank acounts in Ireland, and other accounts, before he left HD a few years ago. Harley simply is no longer able to generate the cash flow to service all these debts.... Now, the Mil-8 engine is big loser for this company. Twin cooling and oil cooling such an abortion for an air-cooled motor of this size. Is well known the Mil-8 factory "light pressure" oil rings will allow the motor to foul the spark plugs after 20k miles. Cam chain tensioner pads, and cam bearings still only good for about 20k miles before they explode inside the motor. Primary chain tensioner also problematic after HD went back to primary chain drive after running primary belt drive back in the 1980's. Also, Doc Harley confirms his practice of voiding factory and extended warranties based on "Black Flags" generated from on-board BCM computer module. All these are intention design flaws in order to continue to boast dealership "Shop Income" based on broken motors. We can only assume many other dealers follow the same practice, as we can read the source code software for the BCM. We Have HD Company e-mails and finance balance sheets we uploaded to Wiki-Leaks for further review. Many internal message traffic complains parts orders from catalog falling behind company sales goals. Bike orders of 500cc, 750cc, and Live Wire falling behind company sales goals. Given the steady decline of HD stock price over last five years, diminishing quarterly reports, and company now falling behind on loan payments, we predict Harley Davidson will fall into receivership next couple years.......
