In Burton, Michigan, friends Tyler Whalen, John Ptaszenski and Bill Messenger were just wrapping up their weekly backyard cookout when a raccoon appeared, in distress. Messenger leapt to action to render aid. As Whalen told it, "We were pumped for that little dude." Steve Hartman reports.

I applaud these guys for reacting as they did to help the racoon. 👏👏👏 And to the woman who said, "Don't be slappin' racoons or any other animal on the back", I say to her, "They acted intuitively and saved the racoon's life!"

Yeah the “experts” are always there to condemn whatever the action is because they probably wouldn’t have thought to do it themselves!

Agreed! Experts never take in individual circumstances. It sometimes danger to someone life if we all take expert advice not to do anything!

@@ilovecanines They can be but most are NOT. I have a group of feral cats that eat side by side with raccoons. The only time they are aggressive is if they are cornered or are starving and you are tormenting them. And, of course, when they are sickly out in broad daylight (rabid).

Poor little guy had to be hungry, attempting to eat non-food. They’re cute, but they have razor sharp teeth & claws. A neighbor found a baby & a couple months later he took it out to show, & it shredded his arm & neck getting away.

Great job to the men who saved the raccoon ❤ Suggestion: stop buying plastic/plastic sliced cheese products. Accidentally dropped human food items is a danger to all wildlife.

Moral of the story: Unwrap the American singles before bringing the slices outdoors for future BBQs. You never know what overzealous creatures might have designs on 4th of July dinner. 😊
