Supercars, it would be very helpful to have a banner telling us who we are riding onboard with during the bumper cams - when it's a multi car squabble it isn't immediately obvious who we are riding with.

The only driver to do it in fact, even in 2021 the only times he DNF'd was when he got punted or had a mechanical. Shane crashed worse then Cam did at Adelaide, gonna say he's prone to it as well? Was in the wall several times in fact, in the same race even.

I didn't even know this was on , the pre advertising for this major event has been very minimal . I believe somebody is in the middle now trying to buy this V8 supercar franchise and has that got something to do with lack of advertisements ? Good recap and great finish to this race. SVG maybe should have been a bit more patient .. but after Saturdays debacle I think he was driving with a bit of red mist. The click-bait PC afterwards was cringe, but seems you cannot be critical of Gen 3 without reprisal. The heat shielding fiasco a rank mess. What commentary has there been on DJR media blackout?

Just a curious question: why did Supercars not elect to go with v8 hybrids for the gen 3 cars? Wouldn't it be great for manufacturers (in terms of sustainability and less carbon emission) to build hybrid v8 engines for the race car and use that knowledge to build hybrid mustang, camaro, or any other car?

It wasn’t a push to pass. Front corner was alongside. Chaz created his own issue by trying to open the corner because of his grip issues. SVG had his nose in there...effectively chaz hit svg

There was overlap? lol@@mmazewski Check the replay on slo-mo, that's not quite what I would call overlap. What happened to the golden rule of needing to be on the door edge to class as a valid overlap? This wasn't even at the rear quarter panel. Barely at the bumber, in fact. Mostert wouldn't even have had the visibility to see SVG was just about there to tap his rear. It was a such an obvious no-go. I'm not saying I'm a Mostert fan over an SVG fan. I actually really like them both (honestly I do) but for the love of the sport, this decision to let this fly was wrong. A mistake was a mistake, accidents happen, but it should have been a redress and try again situation, not run away with it.

Mostert closed the door on SVG who was clearly there which in turn caused contact would've been worse had SVG not backed completely out granted he was already there then for Mostert to purposefully nudge SVG after and put significant damage on the back left is completely F'd it was Mosterts fault yet he felt the need to come back at SVG Racer being a Racer 😂😂😂😂

I'm sure that these re-caps have their place but really they show us little of the strategies involved and thus remove the main focus of the race. Yes most of us are watching from around the globe but this means we are used to full race video and commentary. it looks good but could be so much better.

As an American/"stock car" fan, I find Supercar race highlights more compelling than F1. I'd love to see Supercars race at the Long Beach Grand Prix in California, even just an exhibition sprint, perhaps with a NASCAR driver or two thrown in for fun.

yeah as a f1 fan i loved this, i was here saturday and sunday at turn 1 and it was as good as a f1 event, which i got to Melbourne f1 nearly every year since the mid 90s. F1 will always be king for me but i love the contact, also the cars on track are so much quicker than they are on this replay. Would love to see nascar race in Aus

@@JohnnyJailBait Try a NASCAR oval track at least 1.5 miles long - it's literally the fastest race you'll see that's not Indy cars or along a dead straight-away per Le Mans or Isle of Man. I know other race cars can go faster, but there's no possible faster circuit than an oval track, plus Cup cars race absurdly close together - it's pretty wild to see up close and nothing like on TV.

SVG's pass on Mostert was a bit dodgy. It was a bump & run move. I think the only thing that saved SVG from a penalty was that Mostert didn't go into the wall. These Gen 3 cars look a lot wider than last year's cars. Most of the Supercar tracks are quite narrow. I think there will be a lot passes like SVG's this season.

We did once in 2015..never again. Reason? To much cost for shipping the cars

I came across Supercars about 2 years ago and have been a fan since. Shane Van Gisbergen is hands down one of the best drivers I've seen in racing.

The purpose of the Gen3 cars was to make racing a lot more tighter and here we have 10 cars out of those that finished lapped including two top contenders from DJR, 27 sec to third and 50 odd secs to eight. I don't think these cars are what they were cracked up to be. A lot of issues with driver safety as well, lack of vision, heat problems, access in and out, cramped space for drivers and the fuel filler cap being right above the exhaust...imagine a fuel spillage. Chaz had no skin left on the palms of his hands after race 2, drivers cooked in race one. Over the 2022 season, none of the drivers got a lot of time testing and giving their input. But of a shambles really, should of waited another season and ironed out all concerns.

Supercars isnt really interested in following other racing leagues where the top teams get added handicaps to tighten the field up in terms of evolution. When the car in 13th place gets lapped you know there is a major problem and it gets boring to watch after about lap 30.

In essence it should make the field tight if the talent was similar, to me it shows the dominance of the gizz over the rest in race trim, i think he walks the title

@@JohnnyJailBait Agree, one thing Gen3 has shown is how good the T8 engineers and drivers are. For Broc to get a 2nd and 5th in his 2nd season was outstanding. Also, Nulon racing getting data from T8 sure upped their game compared to BJR.

Some Drivers are dangerous and shouldn’t even be there , only there cause daddy owns the team .

Well Newcastle is a twisty track and not the fastest of the lot, so gaps could be exaggerated. Let's see what happens at Phillip Island, the Bend, Sydney and Bathurst. I'd take away Winton, though. I don't think it's fit anymore for these cars.
