I feel like Scarra's individual viewership and Scarra's popularity as a part of OTV are entirely different things. Scarra's stream content generally isn't my thing, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate and enjoy him as part of the OTV cast or want him to stop being in their group content.
Same! I love him in every OTV video! He brings so much to the group, it wouldn't be the same without him at all and I hate how he doesn't receive as much recognition sometimes.
this is exactly what I was going to say - I really like Scarra in OTV but I just don't quite sync with his stream. I kinda feel a little guilty about it when I want to support people who do things I like.
Personally it’s hard for me to watch someone do solo things. I prefer back and forth between personalities. When Scarra is playing with someone it’s always gold
I love his stream personality & things he talks about or the people he plays with. I just don’t mesh with the games he’s playing right now, sadly. Like it’s hard to watch PoE, or TFT when you don’t know much about it. At least with LoL, while I also don’t understand anything, it’s easy to watch when played with others because of the social dynamics, malding, etc.
That's how I felt about his Scarratember thing when he was doing all the vtuber colabs. I really don't like vtubers and think they're all super cringe so I didn't watch it but I still enjoy his content and I'm happy he did the colabs. Not everything everyone does needs to cater to my tastes, it's okay if I miss a stream here and there if I don't like what's going on.
Some nice discussion. Scarra is clearly very intelligent and conveys his points with ease. Love how Toast doesn't jump in and lets the guests speak as well
True I find him very interesting to listen to, he's very into what he's saying. I usually skip some parts of otv podcasts but I like the way he tells stories.
Personally thought that he was just a wholesome nerd in OTV that's just coasting.. Oh he's so much more.. So, so much more.. I'm not even half-way through.
Scarra is one of the most under appreciated people in the friend group. Its really sad to think about him pulling out of OTV just because he doesn’t want to weigh down the other members. Hope a game comes out soon that he can really enjoy and play consistently with his friends
so true, also Yvonne. I can really see viewers flooding Scarra's comment section on his videos full of people saying he has a boomer vision when he missed something in among us. I feel bad since despite the fun he had in those videos, those small mistakes takes over on what the viewers can say about Scarra.
So impressed to see Scarra talk openly about feeling sluggish or behind his otv peers, that was probably really difficult to do. You're the OG to me and you always make me smile. I hope you get to where _you_ want to be next. This was my favourite podcast so far, the transparency/honesty on tough discussion topics was excellent.
Can I just say that these first 4 podcasts, Toast has been the best duo for each member of OTV. Michael & Toast - Content creation talk Lily & Toast - Creativity talk Poki & Toast - Business talk Scarra & Toast - Competitive gaming talk Toast hits all these marks but not all OTV members hit these marks, so him being paired with each of these members was a great way to bring out a lot of conversations. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
I'd love to see Toast with Miyoung/Yvonne in more of a for-fun podcast compared to the Scarra or Poki ones Also naturally Rae/Syk generally work really well with toast
@@Cindersauruss Idk how likely creators outside of OTV are to be on the podcast, considering how revealing/open and honest they’ve all been so far. Obviously Toast knows his fellow OTV members quite well, so he knows exactly how far he can push the envelope on topics, but it would probably be near impossible to discuss financials or conflict within the friend group with someone like Sykkuno who, for as wonderful as a person he seems at basically ever turn, has cultivated a persona of the “poor” “basement dwelling” streamer, and at least his public shyness/non-confrontational personally would prevent him from discussing anything particularly deep in regards to OTVF. I think Miyoung and Rae would both do it, and perhaps someone like Peter, or Ludwig, but there are some I find pretty unlikely, like Sykkuno, Leslie, etc. it would be really interesting to hear their thoughts tho.
The new format is personally more engaging. The one on one makes the discussions more intimate and there's no trying to include everyone with multiple people. I definitely prefer these as the conversations always keep me thinking and helps with driving to work. Alofa atu Scarra.
One of my favorite thing that Don Scarra does on his streams is when he does 'Just Chatting', he has so much to say, always has a story or opinion that I'll like to hear. Really happy that he was open to talk about different topics on here with Toast, since he's been in the streaming stream the longest in their group (I believe).
Scarra feeling like his content isn't the best when he is here literally providing A+ content with honest discussion and being himself. Silly scarra, you already have the content. It's literally right here. Don't even worry about what platform or format it gets displayed on, it's you, bro. It's YOU and we like YOU.
I've announced to my friends earlier this year that I was gonna start doing "this" and "that" and I was so motivated as well, but it died down and I felt embarrassed that I stopped so soon. Then I decided to workout but without telling anyone, I'm a month and a half in, I stayed committed, and people have asked me if I lost weight and I celebrate in my head every time. So I get where Scarra is coming from where you're less likely to do something when you announce it. It's like jinxing it or something
yeah, I remember reading that when you announce your goals to someone you feel a sense of achievement and completeness (similar to the one you would have felt if you had actually achieved your goals) and therefore are less likely to stick with it.
1 member host all group members each time and repeat, is more interesting i want to see michael and lily , lily and poki, scarra and michael and toast and michael again
I think the problem with host is not everyone would get to talk with everyone and that would be a lack of content in it self. that's only because they are doing two people alone.
@@kindofwackyyy I’d be more down for 1 other OTV member to be alongside Toast when they have a guest on. Just for more variety & a different perspective to keep things spicy.
Damn, I think I kinda relate to what Scarra was saying at the end. I've felt before as my friend group was moving on without me and I was going to be left behind. Thank you for opening to us! It was really a great episode!
Dude I love this ep so much. Scarra and Toast are so well spoken, where its such a pleasure to listen to them talk about all the topics. So intriguing on their takes on certain problems and Scarra presents such well constructed viewpoints that I am always seen to agree with him. What an episode.
To be honest Scarra has a fair point considering invites. For example I thought several times and was a bit sad that Scarra wasn't interested in a lot of games the "group" was playing and only appeared occasionaly, which I considered as mandatory playtime for him being part of the "org". Glad to hear that he actually would like to join some more of those games / sessions and hopefully we see him more often in the future. He's a great addition towards very hyper active personalities and together with Toast the person who makes me laugh the most out of all from OTV. (since I got dry humor)
It's interesting that despite being such good friends Scarra has a non confrontational, almost non arrogant approach to gaming while Toast tends to slip across the line sometimes.
although the numbers don’t reflect this: I think this was the best podcast episode yet. the last 10-15 minutes where scarra was opening up about his content/numbers was such a candid and deep conversation between two really good friends. Hope there are more conversations like these to come in the future podcasts.
Scarra’s reasons for not keeping up on content/health stuff hit home so hard for me. “Im great with innovation and struggle with maintenance” Maintenance is the hardest part. We all assume the hardest step to take with anything is the first step but it’s not, it’s the next step. Taking the next step and the next, not knowing what the result will be & not depending on a final product, is the only way to keep up with motivation. You have to be grateful for the process without banking on the result. I’ve lost 50lbs this year (the most I’ve ever lost) and streamed more times this year than I have in the previous 4 years combined using this mentality. It’s not perfect, and sometimes I plateau or don’t get viewers or whatever (the results I want), but I will feel successful enough that I streamed more times than ever, and how far I’ve come with my health. The fact that I can sit in seats that have arms on the sides without being afraid I won’t fit right is worth a million starts and stops now. The fact that I’m enjoying streaming when I do it means more than the amount of viewers or anything else. Take the next step is all I can say. We’re here with you! Don’t worry about what your audience expects, (easier said than done of course) if you start pinning your progress and expectations on someone else it gets 100x harder. Just do your thing & I know you’ll be ok. Appreciated this so much!!
This fucking hit hard, i personally follow scarra and part of his handful youtube viewers. Honestly, scarra is great, suits what i seek for when i need a break from the normal otv members vid. I think its because of his maturity that i am an avid scarra viewer. Idk, i just like scarra.
I always get a little starstruck when Scarra is featured in a video. I feel like he doesn’t get the spotlight a lot, so I always get super excited when he’s given the space to talk a lot or be featured 😍
to be honest i like hearing scarra's logic and takes a lot because of how much more objective he is able to be, i am very similar in a way where i can be inept in understanding and treating other's emotions, my friend's tell me im good at understanding context and situations and give advice to them with the context but i suffer at trying to just comfort them and listening to them
Enjoying this conversation. It hit me when Scarra talked about how he doesn't feel responsible to speak up for all Asians and how he needs to do research before talking about an issue. As an aboriginal, I have never felt like it was my responsibility to get on board with all aboriginal issues. I'm an individual, not a demographic. Some pretend that someone saying "I wasn't offended" invalidates their feelings on the matter. But if their solution is to invalidate that person's feelings on the matter and shut down the expression of that person's opinions, then the hypocrites can go f themselves. "Speak for yourself (and I'll speak for myself)" is what goes through my mind. I don't represent the demographic, and the demographic doesn't represent me. I kind of got sidetracked, but Scarra's viewpoint resonated with me. I agree with his belief that there's no responsibility on the part of the streamer to keep people from freely spending their own money.
Honestly the problem with goats in Overwatch was that there was no way to balance it except deleting Brigitta or reworking her from ground up. And because they obviously didn’t want to delete a character they made they ended up limiting everybody.
As someone who played the game for 3 years and worked to get from season one silver to a high grandmaster in the game it was really sad to see basically one character kill the game.
This is a wonderful podcast. I always love to learn more about Scarra since he’s been there in OTV from its inception, while I only became a fan much later.
I think its really important that Scarra brought up his struggle feeling left out and falling behind inside his friend group. I'm sure a lot of other streamers feel this way and its good to be open about this.
When Scarra was talking about social/emotional intelligence and gamers I couldn't relate more, you don't even have to be a pro-player to have those issues, they come with most gamers.
You know what was really good about this episode in particular? It was the forthrightness and honesty in the questions and answers. Toast asked some pretty frank questions and together Scarra and Toast gave some pretty frank and honest answers. The part about having a sliding scale of money vs. belief when doing a product endorsement, many people would shy away from this question and give some sugar coated answer but this was real. Same goes to Scarra talking about what happens if someone in OTV starts to become less popular - that was a painful topic to talk about but Scarra and Toast handled it like champs, breaking down the battle between being friends and being colleagues. Really makes you think, streamers make a lot of money but it's a dog-eat-dog world out there and so it's hard to maintain lasting friendships when friendships can be governed by viewer counts. I hope you guys both do well and can set a positive example for other streamers out there. Good luck guys.
I love how thought provoking the discussions are specially the somewhat "double standards" on how people view racism. I've been loving your podcast as you discuss topics that does not get touch on the main channel.
I'm really happy scarra talked about health goals. I feel like it's something people don't talk about it casually enough, and it's comforting hear. I feel like it's something that can be difficult to talk about and I'm glad he does it in such a almost graceful way. Also love Scarra's addition into the dynamic of OTV. Not a huge OTV watcher and more of a casual and mostly came from the Among Us days, but I still love his personality in the whole dynamic
They're hosting all the OTV members one by one and Scarra was the only one left. The rrmaining would be OTV friends from now on. Unless Toast somehow manages to interview himself.
Scarra will probably never see this but when I heard that scarra was doing keto I really got motivated to also do keto and I want to thank him for that. In the end keto wasn't the right diet for me but it was the first time that I really got motivated to even try doing a diet. Keto actually lead me to have bad cholesterol bad that lead me to another diet that works really great on me.
@pigjedi yeah but there are certain foods that highly increase your desire for sweets while there are other foods (like vegetables) that actually reduce your desire for sweets. I lost 30kg without exercising at all, just eating the right things.
@@mdikeee4817 pretty much every food that has sugar added to it. So you should avoid any kind of sauce in your food. I'm not sure about soysauce though, cause I never had it.
Honestly was listening to this podcast on/off all day. And as I'm finishing it, toast says 'have a good poop' as I'm sitting on the toilet.... I feel loved
Scarra is such an amazing person. He is such a comfort streamer, but also just a comfy person in general. And so smart, he is so easy to listen to when he talks! Very happy to hear him on this episode!
I was introduced to OTV via Toast and I've always enjoyed the content, I have my favourites winning OTV but I've never really watched Scarra as I've always had a wealth of streamers to watch, I'm more of a RU-vid person over Twitch - but saying this, I really enjoyed getting to know Scarra more, he's an intelligent man with interesting perspectives.
To Scarra’s point about friends reaching out or not looking back.. personally I think it’s part of some Introverts’ nature to not exactly think about the friends they don’t see on a day to day. Out of sight, out of mind in a sense. Not because they don’t want to, they just don’t naturally think about every single person in their life. But when they do, it’s like no time has passed and reconnection is very easy
honestly you could make a mix of every member of otv. So like Scarra interviewing every member, Lily interviewing every member, etc etc. Would be very fun! Every pair has their unique chemistry!
Other than the OTV channels, Scarra is the only one I’m subbed to. Ain’t no OTV without our father/big brother Scarra. One of these days, when I’m more adjusted to my Uni routine, I’m gonna save up some money and send him a token of appreciation. Always be yourself, Scarra 💪🏻
this ep felt like i was at a dinner with two uncles and just listening to them talk about life and things i don't really understand LOL but i'm here for it
I also feel like by the end of this podcast I realized how much cooler Scarra is now that I feel like I know him more. I would say he is like up there with my favorite streamers now.
Gosh this conversation was just so great. I feel like Toast inquired so many thoughtful things, from the females in gaming to CC’s exploiting their viewership and I LOVED Scarra’s responses. He’s at the same wave length, you know? They just hit it off really well on an intellectual conversation
I love just how mature Scarra's way of thinking is, his insight on life itself is very helpful for me to hear, and I appreciate him as a streamer and a person.
Such a great podcast. Big fan of both these dudes. They're both so smart and well spoken. Loved the topics and how honestly they were handled. Can't wait to see more from both creators. And like others have mentioned what Scarra adds to OTV is invaluable whether or not he has the highest viewership. Just an amazing fella.
I think out of the interviews done so far, this has been the best one. Really enjoy hearing from Scarra and the chemistry y'all have kept me engaged. Thanks for being real!
Scarra it's maybe the "less popular"(in gen z terms) in otv, but he is important core of the org, i see otv disbanding (as an org, not the friendgroup) more likely than he leaving, or stop being part of the otv proyect
Absolutely no one should feel hated just because of their appearance. Scarra doesn’t deserve that at all. When you tell someone they’re overweight or you insult them because of a physical appearance, do you really think that person is not already aware of that????? We are our own worse critiques. He hears that shit every day from himself probably. Clearly it weighs on him, as he said. So stop fucking talking to him about it. It isn’t caring, it isn’t helpful, and it isn’t kind. He will “remedy” it in his own time.
I think mixing friendships with business can be good but with having a large friend groups there tends to be people who do feel left out of things if they are not in the very middle of the social circle. With this kind of stuff it is important to talk you those around you about what is going on so that they can help support you, hang out with you, and give advise when needed. Communication is so important in relationships whether that be with work colleges or friends, which is why it is good that Scarra is talking to Toast about what is going on.
I like how Toast ended the podcast saying, "have a good poop" because I was literally having a good one. Haha! This was a good podcast, it's kinda good to know that there are people who have gone through similar experiences like I did.
