The fact that they were defending their decision after the race just hows how little they cared about the spirit of the rules. He should have just done his drive through and take a net gain under the safety car. The stewards took too long to make that decision though.
I think bird shouldn’t have gotten the penalty. Rowland on the other hand should’ve been penalized Edit: I just realized Rowland didn’t keep going. I guess he should get a five place drop.
Great stuff, nice to see Nyck doing well but it was Stoffels race to win. By the way; a championship overview would be cool at the end of the highlights!
You should have been there in R1 when Mercedes did win. The Teams Trophy was given to Pierre Godof - the same man who designed Mercedes-AMG's all conquering Hybrid PU and is now the head of Mercedes EQ PU in FE.
Indeed but nevertheless Rowland‘s divebomb (though it was more defence against De Vries) was absolutely ludicrous. I have to say that overall today we‘ve seen a ridiculous show from several drivers (Rowland, Rast, Buemi, maybe you could count Di Grassi as well but maybe also it was just a team decision and not his plan)
@@alexbarron4492 Well I think the series has potential as it is some sort of a close racing heat series. In Formula 1 it‘s always being careful not to damage the car even by clipping the grass while in FE you can have some contact and it‘s all fine. That brings some action but what they did there was just a clown show
Imagine if Di Grassi would've done the Schumi and solved the penalty on the last lap after crossing the finishline. Could've been the double rule doge move of the centurie.
I was literally in tears when I saw the Indian national flag and heard the Indian national anthem....I don't have words to express how much I loved the Race...Feeling proud of Mahindra and Lynn... We've had a tough season but this win has elevated every Indians feelings....GO MAHINDRA🇮🇳🇮🇳 #ILoveFormulaE
Well, that certainly was full of drama! I enjoyed it. Really happy for Lynn but absolutely disgusted with Buemi and Lotterer. The incidents they caused were absolutely disgraceful. And as for Di Grassi and Audi, they should know better. For those who don't know, you have to serve a drive through penalty or a stop/go penalty within 3 laps. Trying to argue against it was futile. It's no surprise that Lucas got black flagged. When some drivers didn't show the best of standards, we had classy driving elsewhere though. Lynn and De Vries really shone today.
The disagreement with Audi revolved around the fact that Audi believed DiGrassi didn't deserve the Drive-Through penalty to begin with. Of course Audi know that these penalities have to be served within 3 laps!
@@komentierer I don't know what Audi were doing... and for the record, looking at the footage that Formula E's twitter provided... Lucas did not come to a complete stop in the pitlane. And apparently Lucas didn't know about his penalty either... I'm guessing Audi never told him in the hopes that they could get it overturned.
Sure it was no surprise and Di Grassi should have served the penalty. But serving the penalty cant be undone. What will the stewards do then? Reverse him back into first? If youre thinking to arguing if the move was legal and maybe have tons of luck, you stay out so when the penalty gets withdrawn, Di Grassi would have been first crossing the line
I don't know.. I used to enjoy following FE, but the tracks are just too tight and the cars too large (and weak) to get interesting racing out of this. It's not a great thing to see. I want to see the maximum these cars are capable of delivering and not a limited half-assed Go-Kart show. Electric cars are fucking beasts and if there's a racing series dedicated to E-mobility, I kinda expect crazy performance instead of the current status. More space to race, more downforce, more power and races as long as the battery technology allows. I'm not hating FE, this is more a hot take on constructive criticism and a wish for the future of electric racing. Have a nice day everybody :) Edit: And yes, I am aware the battery capacity is the limiting factor to most of this. What still stands is, that the tracks are too tight and the cars too long to allow for interesting fights.
completely agree. It's like a competitive traffic jam/bumper cars at some point. Some of the most undignified sloppy racing I've seen. Tracks are wayyyyyyyy too cramped. And tbh high level karting doesn't have the amount of ridiculous/borderline deliberate contact that Formula E does.
@IndyX86 no, it just doesn't work They went to a proper track in Valencia this year and it was boring. And they aren't afraid of comparisons as they race a similar Monaco format to F1
I mean in a normal season they do go to Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez but it's on the modified oval circuit and Foro Sol section. Thing is that FE circuits kind of _have_ to be tight for regen requirements.
Thats where the difference come between F1 and Fe is , F1 is boaring i known which car would win the race and here i cant predict also for a proper circuit they will run out of battery thats what we saw in valencia round 5
@@tylaburnett9756 Di grassi didn't do that much wrong, if he had stop the car for 0.1 sec in the pit lane the move would be totally legal. Also Rowland and Lotterer moves are very diferent: Rowland fail a breaking point (a mistake) and crash into another car; Lotterer move 3 times while defeding a position (you can only move 1) and push deleberatly push a car against the wall!!
@@e2rqey It's quite funny to come back to the highlights of FE every once in a while, laugh, think what a bunch of idiots and continue with your life afterwards.
OMG I'm feel so happy for Lynn! Back then I was always voting fan boost for Lynn when he was nowhere. Never thought he could get his first win on a street circuit. Well done!
Karts have a track to wheelbase ratio that's really high, and no actual suspensions. That's what makes them drive "like karts". Formula e cars are just skiddy
As much as I am a fan of Stoffel Vandoorne and really frustrated about the way he was taken out, I think it only goes to show, what goes around eventually comes back around.
@@roedi-6566 I'm sorry for not being clear, I was hoping someone would read in between the lines. It was actually directed towards Mercedes and not Stoffel. The kind of incident we witnessed at Silverstone last week, the driver on the outside line (Max, P1) had to face the consequences. Similarly, the Sunday London E Prix, driver on the outside line (Stoffel, P1) had to face the consequences of the error made by the driver on the inside line. Mercedes as a Motorsport team witnessing both sides of the spectrum within a week is the silver lining.
My first race of any FIA championship where I was at the venue (albiet on the nearby station foorbridge). Absolutely brilliant to watch and see all the chaos unfold at the hairpins, would love to be able to get tickets for next year.
The issue was that he didn't obey a rule stating that if he makes a pitstop, he must be stationary at some point. The data gathered by the FIA and stewards told them that wasn't the case, hence his penalty. Pitting under the safety car the way he did was completely within the rules, but he got the pitstop wrong
@@tiagopatricio3805 yea. I understand what went on now. It wasn’t clear when I first watched the highlights. Nice try from Audi but such a shame they didn’t execute it right
@@Owenzzz777 I forgot to add that not only Di Grassi had to out of the pits Ahead of the SC, but also BEFORE it crossed the line, wich makes it a 1 in a Million move
Racing is great, just hope the drivers had a bit of a better situational awareness and didn't run out of talent so often. The 16 year olds in F3 are racing cleaner than these guys.
Respectfully, formula E is great but I hope there would be some plans in substituting or lessening the high frequency sound the car makes. Sounds fine in early minutes but can be distracting or too fatiguing to listen in the duration. This could help the league in the long run.
i wonder when they take their attack mode. Does the time during the safety car phase still run normal like "sucks for you"?... or is it stoped so they have the full advandtage
What are Buemi and Lotterer doing smh? Pretty much ended both Rast and Dacosta’s title hopes because of idiocy. It’s not impossible for either (especially dacosta) but both were on track to get a decent result imo. Berlin qualifying gonna be so vital
F1 needs to have an indoor/outdoor track too. Its a crappy track but a great concept. Imagine how exciting it would be for a wet race. It would be half dry half wet
That wouldn't work, they can only race indoors in Formula E as the cars don't produce unhealthy fumes. The wet/dry thing only works in this series also due to the all weather tyres.
Crazy thing Audi did with DiGrassi. I wonder if any driver would feel proud of winning that way, had he not received black flag, but he's the team's employee after all, so he gotta follow the strategy they set for him
Mahendra did very well and played their cards right this race and Lynn made a great over De Vries to get the second place. Id Grassi and Audi had no excuses to protest. Just because they sneaked in the pits before safety car was deployed doesn't mean they can clinch first place.
An semi final to speak about first the hairpin section, then lucas genie strategy and the slow SC wow Buemi & olli the bumans at the hairpin section both crash into title contenders like the might Championship leader stoffel and the comeback king Rocket Rast really worse corners bird went into nato & Nyck late push to 2nd, Dennis lucky lead first home win in his rookie season mega and lynn first win in fe at home with Mahindra, first win Mahindra since Dambros in Marrakesh awesome, the title fight goes down to the finale in Berlin Really exciting races this weekend! It will be a really close title battle this season is the most exciting season ever!
The Audi - Di Grasi kind of "overtake" shows us what kind of lamas are making the rules for formula motorsports at the FIA. This made me remembering Schumacher "parking" at the Rascas just before the end of qualifying, or Senna demolishing Prost at the very first turn of Suzuka...
