@@jasperli I loved DC's comment at that moment, pretty much said: "At moments like this, the race engineers press the radio button at their own peril."
I thought it was kind of boring. I knew Norris wasn't going to catch him and it didn't help that my Aston Martin team didn't do anything once again, smh.
I miss the "and it's pedal to the metal and let's go go go go go" like in F1 eSports Pro two weeks ago or last year in Mitsos' fictional F1 (Assetto Corsa) championship.
Seeing Norris really wringing the neck of the car was a pleasure to watch. He was really giving it his all! McLaren is really on the right track with their car at the moment.
Lando making Max stay on his toes is a nice thing to see. I can't wait to see how this rivalry develops over the season. I think Max really enjoys that he has a challenger now.
@@Hamiltonic44 You are delusional with your statement but for sure there will be emotions every race which every F1 fan is looking for...MV still winning WDC without a question.
@@Hamiltonic44I'd say Red Bull's dominance, not Max's. The McLaren today was way better, but Max got everything out of the car and managed to win. Max is nowhere near the end of his dominance.
This was epic! When Verstappen said over the radio: my tyres are gone/no grip, and Lando started speeding up I realised here's something coming! I was on the edge of my seat since then in excitement! They should have put the bit where Verstappen asked why his battery is depleted? And the graph they showed of Verstappen's battery compared to Norris's, that just pushed my excitement into another level!!! Was so much fun! Oh and they should also have put into the highlights how at the end Verstappen's victory radio message was not the usual: "that was quite lovely" but: "BLEEEEP...." xDD Loved it! (I like them both btw)
Zhou and Hulkenberg battle was a show and a half to watch, the two of them fighting while the Hulk tries to get past while Norris and Leclerc slowly inch closer behind the fighting RB and Haas Zhou v. Magnussen*
Happy to see Yuki growing and steadily improving. He is now consistent each race, he learned to manage his behaviour and he became also great at tire management, as this race showed. Next step of improvement is the race start : he's still losing too often positions at the race start, and this is what made his race so complicated
@@jurekgadzinowski2895 right? it feels like I've so rarely seen Yūki score points these last few years, but suddenly, he's consistent enough to be 10th in the driver standings 😯
I am so proud of Lando and McLaren, last few seasons they'd probably be considered a midfield team by some but now they're the one putting the pressure on Max!
McLaren have been making steady gains for awhile now under Andrea Stella. The irony was that their previous “top guy” Siedl was poached by Sauber / Audi, and they’ve gone backwards at the same rate McLaren have moved forward.
max really showed his greatness in this race with no mistakes towards the end of the gp and not falling under all that pressure. an extremely difficult thing to do.
Norris would have to get into the drs for that to happen. Up until the very end the win was in the bag for max because of that. Though if he had 1-2 more laps, things would have been very different..
can't really recall any Ferrari official who stated that. That nonsense came mostly from media and the fans. Or do you have some source I can read something about that?
Stroll’s passes were impressive. Also, the McLaren chassis seemed to be working at least as well as the Red Bull at Imola. I think the Honda is probably more powerful than the Mercedes but a lot of Norris’s gains seemed to be in brake zones and cornering. Kind of strange considering they didn’t look all that impressive in pre-season testing.
@@bikesnbeats Yeah, and people who don't actually pay attention to him don't realize that he's made some of the best passes of the past couple years. He made several incredible passes in Japan alone this year.
This ^^ the hate agianst him is real McLaren had the better car and Norris could easily win but he overpushed in the last 5 laps by drifting every exit eventough Verstappen had a harder challenge by Tracklimits and no temperature in the tyres
@@ThaDutchDK1989 Not hate, just taken for granted. No one is going to celebrate the achievement of someone who rarely knows defeat. Human's have a natural tendency to cheer for the underdog.
Where's the praise for KMag? He was on fire for the second stint, overtaking a heap of cars, finishing just behind Hülkenberg. Great to see things going his way for a change.
Lance doing close to 40 laps on medium tires honestly was pretty impressive. Gave himself a huge tire advantage that he used to, (in a weird twist) bring home Aston’s only points.
What's even more impressive is that during that stint he didn't lose any significant pace compared to those who he was fighting. He came out just ahead of Ocon, and close behind Ricciardo (Bottas was between them), and in the end pulled over 22s gap to Tsunoda.
He also picked his battles wisely. Didn’t waste time / tyres against Hamilton but overtook those he needed to. Couple of races now where he seems to of found his feet. Alonso had a driver error in qualifying, but I’m sure he’ll bounce back quickly.
@@LethalWalou Yeah but when Aston Martin were ahead of VCARB in the development race, Tsunoda was closer to Stroll in the standings. As a matter of fact in Japan, Aston Martin had the superior vehicle to VCARB and Tsunoda managed to outqualified and outrace Stroll so yeah.
Lando probably drove better in this race than he did in his race winner. He made Max sweat for it, you could hear in Verstappen's voice how unused he was to being under that kind of pressure in the dying laps of the race.
STOP THE CAP! Give Tsunoda the credits. He's doing what Lando did in 2022, outdriving a weaker car. But he's doing a much better job with it, has better qualifying pace and he's got more racecraft as well.
As a Red Bull supporter of 14 years , I have to say that this race was very close fought for the wins ... Heart was "racing" . But congratulations to Verstappen , Norris and Leclerc 👏🏻👏🏻
Lando was amazing ❤❤❤❤...but I couldn't believe Max got that pole and the win..with the black and white flag warning....going to be a thriller of a season.❤
@@Optikificationlets talk about 2021 and how all lapped cars infront of max could be overtaken so that he could be closer to hamilton, but all other lapped cars were to stay lapped. idk how else to word it but lets talk abt it!
@@mrkidofminecraft common man enjoy it ..why hard feelings we know what to expect now....we love to see max ringing the neck of a Red Bull and we are gonna get that. Just enjoy.
If Norris’s tires hadn’t been a few laps older I think he would have gotten the win! Really proud of how hard he was pushing his car to the limit! He came so close to a second victory! Great job!
Don't think anyone gets much pressure after 58 wins and 3 championships. (before this race) Maybe if it is a closer championship battle as the season goes on, we might see more mistakes under pressure again.
