I'm still so confused on why the media keeps talking like Trump is a mastermind or making the decisions. 2016 Trump did not pick Pence, the Heritage Foundation did. Trump did not pick 3 Supreme Court Justices. Trump did not pick any federal judges. The Heritage Foundation did. Trump did not write Project 2025. The Heritage Foundation did. Trump did not pick Vance. The Heritage Foundation has made every single choice for Trumps campaigns and presidency, and they will continue to fo just that.

Per Peter Thiel's quote that "Freedom is not compatible with democracy" he means "freedom for billionaires to do as they please is not compatible with democracy" because democracies have those pesky rules and laws that consider, at least in theory, everyone equal. Thiel thinks he is some kind of superhman ordained by providence and should be treated like a demigod. Thiel, Musk, Trump - they are all narcissists. Their success, rather than being something that instills gratitude in them, makes them believe they are superior in basic dignity and worth than anyone else. They obviously are more talented. They obviously are more successful. But they believe this translates as superior intrisic worth.

According to the book that Vance wrote himself, he said that the reason his family was in such a sad state, was NOT due to Joe Biden, (as Vance said at that Convention) but because of other factors not related to Biden nor the Dems. So the statements told by Vance at that Convention (eg: blaming Dems and Joe for all BAD things) do not match what he said in his own book.

Then when that same media a week later said he's old and mentally unfit they agreed. They have no cognitive thought, no independent research, they have been raised to parrot the opinion of someone else. Conditioned, one night even say indoctrination, they believe what they want to believe regardless of facts and will ignore actual facts if need be to protect their own psych from the thought that their opinion could be wrong or that the voice leading them may not have their best interest at hand. Vance is now a paid for senator. He can't oppose anything Thiel wants. I wonder how many other congressmen "belong" to Thiel. Thiel is a smart man. He is protecting his financial future. His savings are the political figures he has invested on. He probably was influential in getting Usha Vance's clerkships with Supreme Court justices Roberts and Kavanaugh. He's not incompetent. Rachel completely misrepresents him. He made to Yale with Zero connections. He only made connections once he got to Yale, and he deserved those connections in part because he came from such a hard life. Read his book and watch his pre-nomination interviews yourself. He is nuanced. He understands structural problems in the US and the difficult balance between offering help vs. creating a culture of learned helplessness. He understands that solving these problems is difficult. He leans right, but he listens and understands the left. I find it refreshing that we on the left will finally have someone intelligent to debate these issues with.

He literally thinks that orthodox Catholic dogma should be integral to US law... A particular form of extreme Christian Nationalism called Catholic Integralism. PS: Trump's success might well have pushed him into his views against representative government. Trump has gotten a lot of liberals questioning if the US will survive as a democratic republic too. Heck, Ben Franklin's "a Republic, if you can keep it" quote is relevant. Well, Vance apparently thinks we can't... But that's a good thing (or at least good for him)

I can tell ya this…..If these men are successful, I give it 6 months…if that…and this pawn will be POTUS. I got out years ago, and when I saw which “christian” leaders were by *his* side, it made me ill. It really was going to happen. It all seems very coordinated as events have unfolded over the past three weeks thereabouts (and I mean including some Dems, as well). I will also say that, as a native hillbilly, I didn’t appreciate Vance’s fraudulent “memoir” and couldn’t stomach more than 15 minutes of that awful movie (wth Ron Howard?). It was insulting to many of us. Isn’t Vance his maternal grandparents’ name? I hear he’s changed his name a couple of times.
