Dude, the word Republic is from the latin Res Publica meaning "the thing of the people". Democracy is from the Greek words Demos and Kratos meaning "Government of the people". Those are synonymous or rather you use Republic to describe a country and Democracy to describe a system. So the US is a Republic which means that it runs on a democratic system...😂
