So presumably a Three Mile Island Iced Tea would be something like the amazing drink Sean mixed. I'm amazed that they drank it, but knowing me I'd probably try it :)

I think it stems from self-deprecating humour, as a Brit I've always said that if you cannot laugh at yourself then you have no right to laugh at anyone else. We often get slated for parodying or even openly mocking Germans, French, Americans, etc but to be fair if you know a little about British comedy you know that what we say or do to others isn't a patch on the cruelty and roasting we give each other :D If you can't take it, don't give it. When people attack Ricky Gervais in an interview (jestingly) he always says "It's true, it's true, I'm a fat middle-aged arsehole. I know!" :D

Apparently the world is made up of English speaking countries? Besides, I prefer Canadian, New Zealand, Australian, and Irish humor. Let's not forget those Scandinavians too. For non English, I love Russian and German humor because it's sarcastic. Sean Lock is the only English comedian that makes me laugh though.

But, that said, if Friends , Frasier and Seinfeld had been British made shows instead, they would have been respectively crude, geeky rather than erudite, and featuring a surreal comedian who seems like he'd be more comfortable doing stand up.
