Snow White and the Huntsman will always be my all time favorite adaptation. It stuck to the story of Snow White without being over dramatic or corny and gave a new satisfying twist on a classic.
It was so dark I really liked it! Ravenna is my favorite rendition of the Evil Queen besides Sigourney Weaver’s version in Snow White: A Tale of Terror.
That would be a point. If they were adapting the Brothers Grimm. But they aren't, they are remaking the previous adaptation. So the impetus is to be faithful to the source material. Not it's parent.

I’m not bothered by the consent of the kiss so much as the prince full on believed he was kissing a corpse. Snow is in a glass coffin, being mourned, cold as ice and not breathing. When she woke up eight guys should’ve run screaming into the woods.
The kiss was nonconsensual, but in Snow White's case, if it didn't happen, she wouldn't have been saved. At the very least, the prince genuinely loved Snow White (ignoring the rather rushed love story), so it wasn't like he was doing it to be creepy.
I think I found the solution. Recast Rachel with Brianna Hildebrand (aka Negasonic Teenage Warhead) Same facial features, just need to retouch image and do minimal reshoots. Definitely a better singer too.

Dude I thought she was cut from the film and Disney is looking to recast. I thought the point of pushing for inclusivity was for the next generation of kids to have representation. But, as a kid I hated my pale skin. It would have been nice to have seen lead actresses that represented that, but instead (during my y2k childhood) all the A listers were going tanning. I was hoping at least for the Snow White remake they could cast someone who owns their pale skin, but I guess my expectations were too high.
The problem is they’re changing it so much it’s not Snow White. I’m not saying in terms of “oh a Hispanic actress is playing know white” but it’s like removing the Genie from Alladin. It’s a huge part of the original story

@@RSorkin they changed it into a less gruesome one, they kept the original storyline and they made the story enjoyable for children. but this is a different situation, they got rid of the 7 dwarfs, which was a big part of the story, made snow white not as white as snow, and is definitely not enjoyable.

The biggest issues with this is that these are key moments in the Disney tellings of the stories. If you have an issue with that part... why are you remaking the movie in the first place? They could make completely original movies about a mermaid who wants to become a human to explore the world or about a princess that gets chased away from her kingdom and has to fight back for her throne. There is so much they could do with this and it could make for an interesting original story without any of the elements "they" don't like.

The original isn't even that good. Sure its great for its history, but it does not hold up. I appreciate for what it stands, but I'll never watch it again. The original fairy tale is better anyway. I grew up with that version.

I think Disney should focus more on newer content instead of remaking older films, however since they are remaking them I don’t really see an issue with them changing certain parts of the film especially if it’s problematic, because if you wanna watch the exact same movie wouldn’t you just go see the original? Might as well put a bit of a spin on it to keep it more interesting
Well I can understand where she’s coming from. The original film is very outdated. The prince was 30 and Snow White is 14, they also only briefly met once but for some reason his non consensual kiss saved her? He was also randomly on her property when they met? So there obviously was necessary changes to be made.

But Americans don’t realize how important the brother grim stories are to german as a culture. They were gather from all over germany and the first book written in the new unified german. Every single child grows up with them and they play in a german made format in the main german channel on every Sunday midday. I literally just rewatched the classic film and do you know what I saw? I saw a grieving prince who came to pay his respects to his lost love and he gave her one final kiss goodbye before he moved on with his life, which is perfectly normal if you think about it. I’m sure many of us have been to funerals of loved ones and I’m sure those dearly departed loved ones got their full share of final goodbye kisses. So, that’s how I interpreted it at least. A poor girl frozen in living death and a poor prince who spent months searching for his beloved only to find her at her funeral. It was only through true love’s kiss that Snow White was saved and the Prince was reunited with his princess.
I don’t think it’s her fault tho that there is no kiss scene, she just the actress not producer or whatever, she might have the same thoughts about not having the kiss scene but it’s not her fault that it doesn’t show up in the movie
