I don't believe that I've ever heard another pianist display such convincing mastery of all of tone, rhythm, dynamics, and the underlying musical structure. Bravissimo.
R composed this when he was ca. 20yrs old, and had just heard that a friend of his had died. He was shattered by this news, and so this piece is all about loss and grieving.
It is simply amazing. Sorrow. Hope. Pain. Anger. Acceptance. All in there and so masterfully woven together. If Rachmaninov could hear it, I bet he'd be crying too.
@@claudioparrella183 Yes pedal is important, but to represent the dark atmosphere of this piece, legato is a need alongside the pedal. It is true that some pieces sound better with pedal and less legato, but I think this piece is not one of them. Of course this is just my personal preference, music has no boundaries at all. I just wanted to share my humble opinion:))

Gracias por eso... oi otra muy buena pero de una mujer preciosa, y no sé qué me encantó más...si Irina tocando... o lo que tocaba...y en este caso, creo que hay más nitidez espiritual por tratarse de sentimientos de hombre que parecen recreados por Oleg, en una pieza que refleja la finura a que pueden llegar los sentimientos de un hombre por una mujer.... cómo un sentimiento atávico puede llegar a convertirse en una poesía de amor espiritual, y en un canto nostálgico a un momento de la vida que no podemos prolongar...exepto plasmado en una "Elegia" ...Gracias Oleg♥.
