I enjoyed every single moment of it. I will not only mention how beautifully it’s been played which is obvious, I will not only mention how beautiful the piece is composed but understanding every detail in it and preparing it like a great meal with all the recipes in it, and how you deliver it to people as a project is also exceptional as art. I fall into every second of it. Emre, I’m proud of you! Thanks for doing this. Wish this project goes bigger like a BBC documentary. It reminds me of Carl Sagan’s Cosmos in a way how he explains life in Science, you do in Music!

You are the only pianist beside Rachmaninov himself who truly understands this piece. This is an angry, violent and very heart-retching/wrenching explosion of emotions. The fact that it begins with angry/frighten left hand is meant to alert the listener that that a cataclysmic violent storm is approaching. When the storm is directly overhead one realizes that the person is in the center of this recalcitrant and tumultuous event is not one made of wind, rain and violent lightening in the physical world but is encapsulated completely within flesh and bones and is the very soul struggling to maintain their very sanity. I know when I listen to this piece I feel a tug of war between life and death. My soul feels like it is a rag doll in the mouth of a violent vicious monstrous dog trashing me about slamming me against and between giant granite boulders. This is the quintessential and most definitive explanation and interpretation of third greatest piece of music written for the piano in human history.

Very happy to have found your video as I’m working on this piece right now. First of all, great interpretation! You put a lot of nuance into this and you balance restraint and crazy so well compared to many pianists who will go all loud and fast. Second, many thanks for your thorough analysis. Interpretations will always differ but you point out so many of the levers and parameters to play with to make this piece of music your own. All the best!

Thank you Nicholas for your message which was very interesting to read and very motivating as well. I'm glad you appreciated the restraint and crazy balance. And I agree, this piece is usually played loudly all through which takes away the power of contrast between a variety of emotions. I wish you best of luck

You know the song is a beast when you can make a near 25 minutes video on just the play style of a 3 minute song. Great video and wonderfully played. Beyond the structure and editing of the video, Your descriptions such as “agitated and sorrowful duet” or your explanations such as how you group certain notes as they would be sung in the shower help me contextualize the notes while I’m playing this song.

Good advice and great playing. My nephew is graduating in piano studies. He told me he was going to play in a recital, that this was the piece and he was going to "do something". (I am also a pianist) I worried he'd get in trouble since he skirts the edges but he assured me it was an exhibition. He stormed through this piece with his usual bravura then repeated the last page at half speed, accenting the thumb of the left hand on the downward triplets. The face of his principal teacher was, as they say, a study! LOL He took a quick bow grinning ear to ear.

@@EmreSenSecrectOfMusic What?! you responded! I downloaded your Op 16 No 4 to my allle music playlist. But I love your dynamics when you play this piece. A lot of composers keep it fast and brash because in my head I picture a violent storm when I hear this piece so I understand why other famous composers play it like that. But it definitely adds life when you play soft and some points but still jeep that violent storm effect. Well played

@EmreSenSecrectOfMusic
@EmreSenSecrectOfMusic 2 года назад
O misal :)
