I´m a young cellist. It´s such a great motivation to see Narek playing. He plays so extraordinary and most important he gets completely lost in the music.

This is absolutely a beautiful performance but we cannot overlook the pianists, her performance is breath taken.

I've been listening to this performance every single morning for two years. But I still find it fascinating.

@@peterwoolfson3466 It's because the pianist and cellist are one. We HEAR two instruments but we LISTEN to just ONE sound. It's like silk.

Bravo to Narek and my friend Noreen Polera! This is a great performance of the Op. 19 Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata. You should be proud, as I have no doubt your teachers are. Stay healthy and safe. More than ever, our world needs artists like you!

especially beautiful.I heard her wonderful playing with A.Peled in Berlin. Her teacher... R.I.P...Martin Canin would be very touched by her collaboration here....!

I totally agree, and both of them do a wonderful job. The pianist plays with such clarity and deep emotion. Love it!

It's the shifts for me. It's the old-school way he adds just the right amount of schmaltz. There is also a sublime cohesiveness to his playing. It all just makes sense. Let's not forget, it takes a SUPERIOR pianist, with careful attention to detail and dynamics to pull this off. I believe that happened here as well.

This is absolutely one of may favourite pieces of music - a Rachmaninov masterpiece. I have to say this is a beautiful and breathtaking performance - they really capture the emotion and make it feel fresh: perhaps the youth of the players who make it so? Having listened to this back to back with the classic 1976 performance of this piece by Rostropovich and Horowitz, yes, Rostropovich and Horowitz have perfect technique, but perhaps their style is a little dry and reserved for today's ears. Rachmaninov's music is from the 'heart' and 'emotional', so 'bravo' to this modern performance - it is my new favourite.
@martinmysteres1384

Either Rostropovich/Horowitz are a little dry or Hakhnazaryan/Polera are too mellow... it's a subjective perspective also depending on the recording conditions, audio quality, headphones, hearing problems...

Beautiful, elegant combination and accompaniment, piano in this recording is` and performs more smooth and delicate, cello of course perfect, and even better than previous performances. This young man promises more hights,...to be one of the best. I love him

Very interesting how he doesn't leave the D string until around 2:30. Not sure if this is just his preferred fingering or what, but it gives a very satisfying conclusion to that whole phrase.
@chrisgreen764
@chrisgreen764 6 лет назад
Mitchell Williams the reason he doesn’t leave the D string is to obtain a more sonorous sound. The A string is far more strident and narrower in sound width. Each string has its own characteristic. Listen to the old recordings of Emanuel Feuermann, where quality of sound mean a great deal. It doesn’t now. They all want to sound loud like a trombone. My two teachers, we’re Anthony Pini and Paul Tortelier, both greats in their own individual ways.
