I feel real fear going slightly downhill on a longboard in the suburbs when I see a stop sign at the bottom of the hill, and I know that I will not be able to stop unless I collide with something. In that moment, I feel my mortality.
So i had this video randomly recommended to me. Never heard of Josh Neuman, never seen this kind of video before, so clicked on it, and was instantly impressed. Then suddenly to realize he only died recently is devastating. R.I.P. Josh Neuman. I hardly knew about you
I saw this type of video the first time and was impressed. I instantly thought "oh, how long will such a stuntman life? Seconds later i saw "RIP" wishes in the text and i thought "oh, lord, how sad, but with this type of life..." so i decided to figure out, why he was passed away and again Josh surprises me, not his job, a planecrash killed him... his videos impress me. dear Josh, i know you only a few minutes but wherever you are, rest in peace :(
I am so sad to read that Josh died... these videos bring me enormous joy and I hope they remain here. What a dude... every time I watch him fly down a mountain I get full body goosebumps. I bet he's having a blast on the other side too!

RIP to a legend, your hillbomb videos have always been so terrifyingly beautiful. I've watched this one a dozen times and it never fails to affect me. The world just lost a real one, but we'll never forget you.
What a guy, he packed a lot of living in. Pretty devastated to hear of his passing. A reminder to me to cherish and live this life to the fullest. Rest In Peace Josh, thank you for the inspiration.

Wow! Just watching him scared the willies out of me . I gathered he could be doing 60mph at times. He knows how to slow himself down . It’s those hairpin tight turns , that’s nuts!
there are two types of people: those who watch him cruise down and getting second-hand adrenaline, and those who watch the mountains roll by at peace. both of them are in awe and having a great time.
I'm the 3rd type thinking "one mistake, or even no mistakes and someone comes round the wrong bend at the wrong time, and either someone kills you and has to live with it, or you kill them, or both, all because you wanted the adrenaline." Frankly I don't care if you die, I just feel for whoever finally gets you.
RU-vid recommended me this video. After watching couple of seconds, I dunno why, continued watching it. Really had fun, specially his longboarding vidoes through the scenic routes. Honestly I never watched anything like this before. After watching two vidoes, while I was checking some comments, i was like,o my gosh, this guy is no more!!! "He died doing what he loved" Rest in peace Josh Neuman. We will miss you!
Hi Josh, I gotta say thanks for inspiring me to take up longboarding a couple of years about at 55. I will never skate the way you do, but the sense of freedom and pure connection to balance and movement can still be experienced even at 25 mph. My quality of life has improved, and I continue to make progress with skill development. One day I hope to skate a long open road, but for now I am satisfied with smaller hills. I’d be doing none of it if I had not stumbled across one of your Alpine Descents postings and seen how a gifted athlete can make magic on a mountain! Thanks again!

When I was a kid I had this recurring dream of me running so fast that I could start to slide over things and then fly. This is probably the closest thing in real life.
@@paranaut23 I have not been to all of Europe to make that comparison :) but I did grow up in the Austrian Alps and can say that such a stretch of flawless road is a rare thing indeed. Give this road one winter, and it will look differently.
I am an electric skateboard rider. This old timer asked Josh a question about ever experiencing fear while bombing. To my surprise he responded with an authenticity that impressed me. He said he faced the fear of crashing but encouraged me to face and overcome what most bombers fear most; a catastrophic crash. Josh heartened me to sharpen my boarding skills of maneuverability and take careful well thought out calculated risks. As everyone who rides fast knows those decisions must be made in fractions of seconds. Only practice gives you the confidence and skill required to successfully board without incident. I am so grateful he took the time to encourage and coach me in my E.S. runs. I think of him often in my rides. He is my mentor and teacher who's spirits rides with me on my skateboard rides. RIP Josh and thank you.
I never watched him regularly but I know that every time he came up on my feed, I always watched his videos because they’re just so impressive. Glide on, brother. RIP 🙏❤️
Josh Neuman's video's always inspired me, just the pure adrenaline and enjoyment of going warp speed down a mountain with beautiful scenery is capturing in a way no other video's seem to be. While his death is heartbreaking, I treasure the legacy he left in the form of these video's. May he forever skate down a mountain that never ends.
But skating down a mountain forever wouldn’t be so ideal it would be fun at first but how would you sleep,eat,drink? and when you would get tired how would you deal with that? You would have to skate for all eternity while starving and being dehydrated while also being tired. (But if you’re talking about him being in the other world then your statement would make a lot more sense)

I used to fly down highways too, Big Sur was my fav spot for that. However this new generation of speed freaks take to a whole new level, I LOVE IT!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! Sad to hear the dude is dead now. I'm sure he sk8ing the stars out there somewhere!!!
I know this guy is a professional but I still can't help but feel my ass and toes clenching every video. And that wipeout he had scraping his ass I ALMOST felt that.
@@jonslys He doesn't have a way to go on just because i recommend it to him. Everyone knows the thing about what to do or not to do. My advice is to see him enjoy doing it and he does it really well. Also, everything we do in life is actually a risk. You can't enjoy life without risking it!

Cant think Ive ever seen better filming of this sort. Simply magnificent accomplishment. I didn't know a person could do this on a scare board, street clothes, free on the board, especially past cars and around turns. I fear for his life and those inspired. Being young and permanently severely maimed for life is not something one gets over, as aging can be quite unforgiven and unforgettable.
Life seems endless until we collide with consciousness... Thank you for your life and inspiration... This reminds me of the essence of pure joy and passion in life. By now you will probably slide a longboard towards the undiscovered places within an expanding universe. Love to your sharing
Just beautiful everything... the scenery, the time of day, the road, the camera work, the incredible talent and grace. The lens flare at the beginning made it look like a carefully edited scene from a Hollywood movie. Breathtaking.
I like to watch these without sound as I think. It's nice to see movement forward during that process. Helps a lot. Thank for making these amazing videos!

@@escapetherace1943 nope, they have a lead car ahead to scout the road for incoming cars and call so josh will know. You can see it in his other videos. But well he wont be doing downhill longboarding anymore you dont have to be worried. RIP josh

His videos really brought comfort to me before, it just relaxing and just now after watching someone doing skateboarding in my fb, I immediately went to youtube and found his channel to watch his comforting videos again but only to find out he's dead already. This is saddening, I hope he's in a better place now with his skateboards.
I can’t imagine what’s going through your head at 4:10. Heaving already fallen once through there and then having to dodge two cars and two bikers through that already sketchy pass on the second go around. But you managed to do it!
Been going fast even for my bicycle, but at some point you get that feeling that your bike is maxxed out. Kind of a freaky feeling. But I guess that's the rush.
This i why jeans are good for skating. They're like, modern day chainmail armor except theyre quite comfy and gives a degree of mobility (to an extent), while giving basic road grind protection just in case you get dragged across the road after a fall from your skates
I find 2 things unbelievable about this video. First, the skill, control, and calmness of the skater. Secondly, that someone would risk their life to do this.
This video made me smile uncontrollably, and at the same time feel down with the realization that I would probably never get to experience something even remotely close to that... You're freaking awesome! keep it up!

I'm still trying to figure out how not even his pants are torn. Fell off my bike earlier this week and it ripped up two layers of pants and gave me a nasty knee scrape
do it if you have the possibility. I've been going to the Alps every year since I was 5. Summer and Winter (ski). After 30 years I still haven't seen it all. Avoid tours with busses, in the Alps you have to walk (or Ski)
