Running in a loving, fun and happy place too is a complete difference. Greyhounds are an extremely sensitive type of dog and race tracks are a horrific place for them. Please never go to a dog racetrack. It’s nothing but animal cruelty where they get injured like horses do a lot in the starting gates, or trip and fall when running within the pack, or get pushed too hard and injure soft tissue or bones or their brains (most racing greyhounds become extremely reactive), and never get the proper quality care, love or attention a family pet gets/should get. They’re domestic pets that should be treated and protected like any family member with a lot of special daily requirements that should involve running free at the beach, or in a field, or huge back yard, or a long safe trail, etc. I love how this couple gave this beautiful pup such a happy, healthy and loving environment. The fact they moved their home to a boat that gave him a lot of access to beaches was such a smart move. How happy is it just to watch him love his beach life. They know how to live. Interesting how dogs teach us happiness and joy so easily when we know how to treat them first. ❤

@@Confidentk9sCa I used to have three rescued greyhounds. They need exercise like all dogs. But they are more than happy with walks and a garden (back yard) to play in. Space to properly run is great, but not a fundamental need. They are so fast they can get injured - imagine one of those legs dropping into a rabbit hole.

Why did they fail?

@@eilenekellogg-ki2br Racing-trained greyhounds often miss out on house-training, and may be hard to train at a later stage, so may be rejected as family pets however docile they may be.

We had two of these whackjobs about the same age as yours. Best decision I ever made. Two of the best friends I ever had.

Well most people ruin their lives by living like dogs in a dog pound without vision and hope. One has to use their God given mind to live well and prosper.

There all that , and a sthick as aplank, they aren't ther brightest stars in the sky. But easy to keep! Eat, sleep , wander about a bit, find some way to embarrass owner, repeat. 😁

@@51WCDodge I have had 2 greyhounds.... One lovely, not-so-bright one and one lovely, very bright dog. I think it just depends. Their sweetness makes up for anything they may lack.

Greyhounds aren't rescued. They are retired and adopted. They are never in any danger to be rescued.

I have a neighbor who takes in retired racing greyhounds, and they are peaceful and wonderful dogs! He takes them for walks around the neighborhood, and keeps them until he can adopt them out. I'd take one in except my yard is much too small.

He has the most amazing life a human could ever ask for! Lucky!!!!

Greyhound or whatever breed, take one look into that dog's eyes, he's _(now)_ loving life fully. He is one happy camper. Ps. I'm 70 years old, and I've had dogs & cats all my life, and of all kinds of breeds, in all different health conditions. Only once a puppy _(I was 12),_ all the rest were rescues. I take them for what & who they are, and make the best of it. They all have that right. I could care less what breed they are. They are first and foremost an individual. While I've never had a greyhound, I think iggys _( Italian greys)_ are pretty cool. _(Just at my age, I'm the wrong human for them.)_ The dog I have right now is also a rescue. I've had her now for 6 years. And, we are both of the age that we are growing old together... and that 24/7, 365 days a year. I might not be the best human for her. But, I treat her the way I would want to be treated... that includes cooking her fresh meals everyday, just the way she likes them.

They can be treated bad but most live great lives racing. But they could be said about any thing involved with owning animals.

@@TheSmokey999 I agree and have heard that before. I'm not opposed to the idea of working dogs, like on the farm, and such. But, they need to be valued and cared about. Greyhound racing does seem to have a history of abuse.

@@KITN._.8great lives??? Surely you're trolling. Greyhounds are kept in horrible conditions, beaten into submission, and forced to run even when exhausted, sick or injured. The only exception is if it's a serious injury or illness in which case they're dumped or abandoned. EVERY business that exploits animals for human entertainment (or our taste buds) is abusing the animals. Don't kid yourself.

it definitely is so cruel, they treat the dogs like objects to get more money. the same thing with horse racing!! they just don't care about the animals and see them as money-makers, not actual breathing animals.

@TheInuyasha90 Completely agree! It's incredibly cruel. My mother adopted a Greyhound, she was so scared, sweet, lovely girl. She had to be taught how to walk stairs, climb onto couch for comfy rest, etc. Sweet animals.

Then they race and you find those alpha dogs that don't like to loss. Then watching champions run is awesome.

When I was a kid, there were these local Greyhound walks. Maybe thirty dogs and owners all meet up in a park, all walk the dogs on leash, let them say hi and have a little social time together... its as much for the humans as it is for dogs. I remember walking with a friends dogs, coming up a hill to flat ground, and when we got to the top, their owner was waiting for us about 200 metres away. She called my phone, told me to take the leads off (harnesses on, just leads off) and tell them to find mum. I did. I blinked and they were gone halfway down the field. They are insanely fast. It took them all of five seconds to cover the field.

@freddyt55555 Greyhounds are never treated like running machines. This dog is the way he is because of the love and nurturing he got from birth until he was retired.

@alisonwilliams3806 Greyhounds are not put down. Every greyhound that retires from racing goes home with their owner or goes to adoption groups and gets adopted. It's against the law to euthanize greyhounds for no reason. Please learn the truth.
