If Bruce and the band walked on stage, played this for 3.5 hours and walked off I wouldn't complain.

Here I sit drowning in the fear of the Covid 19 pandemic. Outside and on my TV screen images of protest, of violence, of peace, of hope, of a brave new generation play over and over. I lost my 33 year old son, David Silver, in 2007 and have been raising his then 3 year old orphan son ever since. I am 71 now and David's son, Aaron is almost 16. It's been years since I allowed myself to listen to these heart-wrenching songs Bruce tore from his soul. I am old enough now to actually KNOW I am mortal and my time will be coming. As much as I long to see David on the other side, I long even more to have every single second I may be granted by God to love and comfort my son's son, Aaron. Even though it is not in my power to decide when I will have to go, I can't keep the tears from filling my eyes whenever I look at Aaron, knowing I can't be here for him forever like he thinks I will be. There is only one Bruce and the emotion I know he tears from the depths of my soul actually scares me. That is why I stopped listening to these incomparable pieces of musical genius several years ago. I can't believe some of the comments on this thread are from a mere week ago. We all will pass on, like poor George Floyd, but even when Bruce's time comes, NOBODY and NOTHING will ever erase the sweet power of his genius.

I am a 63yo female who grew up with Bruce. This song tears at me. I'm at a crossroad in my life and trying to find reasons to keep on keeping on. I feel lost and broken inside. The part where he speaks of some guys just give up living, and die a little by little, or something like that, it's not verbatim but tell me what does it mean at our age to keep racing in the streets? I'm looking for answers because I need a reason.

I am feeling better, I work as a Registered Nurse and for a long time, I couldn't go into work. I would freeze and turn around in the parking lot. I think I was burnt out having worked frontlines during COVID. I am seeing Bruce 3/16/23 in Philly with my BF from high school. A day before my birthday. I can honestly say I'm happy at times, a feeling that was so removed from me for so long. Thank u...if you are ever in SC hit me up. I'll buy you a drink and we can listen to Bruce. Xxxxooo

1973 This song takes me back to a Saturday night in a small town in the Midwest. My hometown. Hot and humid, after dark on the north side of town between the railroad tracks and the cemetery a mile north of town. John Haley with his 302 69 Camaro and Ronald Bakko and his 66 Chevelle SS396. They raced several times, the sound of those 2 cars in the distance... I listen to Bruce do this song and I'm right there again. Even met "the girl" that evening, Roxanne with her beautiful long red hair. True to the song, I drove that girl away. I was 17 then, 63 now, life has been good, Bruce's music just gets better with age!

I can't help but feel grateful for the timeless masterpiece that is Bruce Springsteen's "Racing in the Streets." This song, with its haunting melody and poignant lyrics, has touched the hearts of generations of music lovers. The way Springsteen captures the longing for a life beyond the mundane, the desire for escape and the hope for something better is truly remarkable. His ability to weave together themes of love, loss, and the human spirit is a testament to his artistic brilliance. I am grateful for the countless hours of joy that "Racing in the Streets" has brought me and for the way it has touched the lives of so many. This Thanksgiving, Thank you, Bruce Springsteen and his enduring legacy of music that continues to inspire and uplift us all. The jamming part with piano and rock music is awesome. However I must admit one more Bruce’s masterpiece’The River’ which always drive me in perusing my life.

This performance simply blows my mind. The song is obviously legendary and one of the most powerful of Springsteen gems. The performance is so intense, it bends gravity. The band starts off cool - almost restrained - and then, the pressure builds up towards the end like a boiler on the brink of explosion. Springsteens voice is gritty like a bag of rusty nails. Your eardrums are scratched and your heart pierced. The band roars underneath the surface like a wild animal dying to be let loose. One of my all time favourite performances.

There are many great versions of this incredible song. IMO, of those I've heard, live, and on boots, this is my favorite. Roy's brilliant piano is present, but it doesn't dominate the rest of the band. We can hear every instrument, but especially Bruce's gorgeous playing. Racing in the Street is a classic example of the Whole being more - much, much, more - than the Sum of the parts. The song is so stunningly beautiful I can't help but feel lucky to be alive in a world that contains such magnificent art - and thankful that, for whatever unknown reason, to be able to appreciate the genius of Bruce Springsteen.

@CPSJSMSUUMUGA

I agree. Except... the problem I have is I feel exactly the same way - that I've just heard his greatest song, and the greatest at least since the invention of amplification - after about 20 of Bruce's. Incident on 57th Street, For You (Hammersmith Odeon), Backstreets (1977-78 with the Sad Eyes, Drive All Night, You Lied interlude), The Price You Pay, Wreck on the Highway, Jungleland, She's the One (with the 1978 Buddy Holly, Not Fade Away intro), Girls in their Summer Clothes, American Skin (41 shots), Land of Hope & Dreams - throw a dart. Speaking of throwing a dart, the mystery to me is how someone ends up Bruce Springsteen, and everyone else? Not.

A place on the internet where you can always find hope, inspiration and deep deep-rooted strength. Beautiful thought to know you can always come back here, right? Reading comments of people who’s heart got melted, just discovered Bruce or to simply type up their own admiration for this masterpiece, like im doing right now.
