Ok, you aren't the only one who had tears at the end of this video! Congratulations for being on the US National Cross Country Team! I know you had this habit of being a national champion, but 4th place out of the whole country....just awesome! You must have played baseball, as that was a classic dive into home plate! You used your head and gave a really excellent effort, as you left it out there on that course. I think you had a great run, as sometimes a great run isn't setting a PR when you are feeling great all the way through a race, but of really hanging in there, and giving everything that you have, so you did your very best on that day, which is what you did! By the way, you are a natural spokesmodel for razor blades! You have the hand motion down! Kudos to your parents, for flying across the country, and then as a reward, you force them to drive to West Virginia!! You brought back memories of my college days as I went to Duke, and used to drive from Michigan to Noath Kerolinah (yes that's how they say it!), usually getting a traffic ticket somewhere in West Virginia. Well, at least now I have greater patience with my driving. Allie Ostrander, congratulations for being on our national team, and an awesome representative of the USA. Look at where you have come from in a short period of time, while overcoming injuries and taking time away from training for your well being and living your best life. You are amazing, and have such great strength, both physical and mental. Good luck in Serbia for the world championships. You were in full beast mode at the finish. I knew your fast finishing kick would pass Logue to the line. You ran briliiantly at the back of the 12-person pack through the first 4K, then you slowly worked up the pack through the next 2K. At 1K to go I knew you'd finish no later then 4th. Cross Country and the Trails is your domain IMHO. Everyone feels all the emotions you feel Allie, but you have the age, the natural ability, and very importantly the work ethic to justifiably compete at a world level. 2024 is going to be your year with more Ups and less Downs.
I brought my family to Richmond for the race. I just wanted you to know you had three kiddos, 8 yo and younger, cheering you on along that final straight of the 2K. I saw you in the back of that big pack and was thinking, so smart because she’s going to end up passing them all (you proved me right!)
WOW! Team USA. Congratulations!!! I became a fan 10 years ago after watching you run up Mt Marathon on a RU-vid Video, and I am so proud of you. I saw you run at the Roy Griak too in person. You never gave up on your dream, you just kept living it.
You did it! I was following along with the splits and could see you were picking up the pace the last few kilometers. Super solid race plan paid huge dividends. The finish was priceless. Given your training over the last couple months it's clear you have the potential for even more improvement before Belgrade! Can't wait to see what you do there and in the trail running season!
I watch these videos because of your charisma, humor,positivity, and inspiration and so many more endearing qualities! Seeing you get the result you were after is an amazing bonus, all of us that watch see the dedication, talent and blood sweat and tears that goes into these races and I at least am not surprised when you succeed.! So inspiring Allie! I was on a flight during your race, and was so happy to see your placing after we landed. Thank you for being so open and vulnerable about the body image issues and how they can play into confidence..it's something that so many runners struggle with, and seeing you face it, and overcome it (and fuel with amazing pre-race food!), is so helpful. Great race! Way to run smart while maintaining such a fast pace. You looked great in that last track workout when you broke out the spikes for the first time in a long time. In race mantras are a great way to keep your confidence in the middle of a 5K or 10K. “I am strong. I am fast. I am confident.” Just rinse and repeat. If your mind keeps repeating positive I will statements then there is no room for doubt.

Hello Allie, hard work, perseverance, belief in yourself and the right environment have brought you back to the American top in running and you have achieved 4th place. Place rewarded. For me you got 3rd place or at least there should have been 2 two 3rd places. But that's not so important for you, you now have confirmation that something is going well again. Congratulations on making the USA team for the World Championship. That was a real battle for the finish! And the dive I have only done in the track. I was there for the race. I ran in the Master's Men's race and won my age group. It was 2 and a half hours before your race and was brutally cold. I loved the film of the course because I remember every muddy spot. I am now training for the USATF 5K Road race on Feb. 24, but I am planning to go to the Master's World Championships in Sweden in August. Good luck in Belgrade. Congrats Allie! I ran for Cornell College( the little Cornell in Iowa) in the 80’s but I was pretty middle of the pack. I think if I’d started younger and had better coaching in Jr.High/high school I would have done a lot better because I was really starting to move up my senior year of college. My coach in college was pretty bad about our weight and caused us to diet excessively. I can no longer run due to injuries and arthritis but I’m living vicariously through you and a few other athletes! You look fantastic,your body looks strong and healthy,so proud of you!
