But how about comparing the current BMW M5 CS against the by Tesla promoted Plaid here, over the course of a 10 lap circuit race? Would that not be the true definition of the worlds fastest sedan? :) Yes, Hagerty this would be the right definition, and you (my friend) know it.
It's amazing how gracefully that E39 has aged, and that engine sounds GLORIOUS!! The Tesla and Lucid are incredible vehicles but that E39 is a beast even today.
Absolutely agreed. They almost should have used a W211 E55 AMG. Only 2-3 years newer, and was the fastest sedan in the world for a few years running. Much, much faster than the E39 too.
and it is still faster when you look at max speed, which I think is also pretty important, especially due to the Teslas range becoming really slow when driving 200km/h for a while...
The moment he said: "watch these two silent killers show the M5 who is boss" as the video shows these two beauties just waiting there for the BMW to pass, man I just got goose bumps and had to watch that again. 🔥
The attention to detail is insane. The graphic stats that are motion-tracked to the car showing their stats during the slow-mo... CASTS ITS OWN SHADOW ON THE ROAD My god
Dude I just figured out that when he talks after the drag race it's not some complicated green screen showing the slow-mo of the race behind him but they actually drive the M5 and the Lucid at like 0,2 mph, it's INSANE.
@@mateokovac2642 😂. Don't think so. The Taycan is the best car I ever had. I had an E92 M3 for almost 5 years, I loved that, too. Maybe some day I will buy another or an M5 E39 but here in Finland most of the E39 are in bad condition.

Looking forward to seeing how Lucid does in comparison. We live in incredibly fast times indeed. Porsche.. Lucid.. Rimac.. you’re up to bat.
Model s plaid with 1000hp lost to the taycan with 645hp around the track by 3 seconds. Then this year they added a track pack varient with track tires and beat the 400 less hp taycan by 8 sec. The difference of using regular street tires vs track is 10 seconds at nurumbring. Without that advantage the regular plaid lost. It also lost too a few other 4 door sedans. Mind blowing camera work and editing. Loved the vfx, the engineer maintained the lighting conditions very well and it didn't look like a CG. Amazing. Tesla and Lucid are my favourites
I've got a E46 Coupe in my garage for about 8 years now and my plan is to electrify it when i'm on pension if i'm hopefully still alive of course. unfortunatly i think the government will ban gasoline vehicles except for the super wealthy so I'm probbaly forced to electrify it

@@BRAINFxck10 Well no need for that. To me its all about keeping it real if it is the only one of the cars you have. If you have multiple cars then sure an LS swap is cool
@@BRAINFxck10 The blanket ban of combustion cars isn't going to come any time soon because we're talking about over a billion vehicles on the road, how the vast majority of people get around. That being said, they are being pushed out of city centers and certain towns and in a few decades I can see general bans coming down once we hit a certain saturation point. Once you ban the sale of new combustion cars it's only a matter of time before they fall by the wayside due to attrition (accidents & poor maintenance) and people trading in their combustion cars for new or used electrics. And there's the question of the long-term viability of gasoline production.
BMWs with E-** chassis codes in general are excellent. A few exceptions, of course, but when BMW eschewed hydraulic steering and started phasing out manuals, they lost their way. Then they stopped making N/A straight sixes. Detestable.

@@a.banana Maybe, but there are so many driving dynamics of an ICE car that an EV doesn't replicate. Gear shifts, powerbands,VTEC/VVTL-i, sounds, superchargers and turbochargers, weight and the list goes on. Let alone the aftermarket support for EVs which is limited to only body kits. There's no doubt that electric power is superior to ICEs from a straight line performance standpoint, but their weight and lack of ICE features means they'll never replicate the driving dynamics of an ICE based car.
@@RyanRaiyyan Of course, EVs will never be close to replicating the experience of driving a gas car, but whether or not one is better than the other is up to personal opinion. Different doesnt necessarily mean worse. I find myself enjoying both. Hopefully aftermarket support improves somewhat though. Weight is sure to come down as battery tech improves for those that like lighter cars, I'm not too worried about that. Also Porsche plans to replicate the RR driving dynamics by putting some of the batteries in the rear, so that will be fun. EVs have some exciting things coming, I'm looking forward to watching them develop.
I always loved that M5. I wasn't sure if any manufacturer would even ATTEMPT to make a faster sedan. I definitely didn't expect that it would be destroyed by such an enormous margin. The future is weird.

@@dsmluck you may very well be correct, I would probably be surprised. But I would argue that nothing beats having to wring out the revs on an engine, making it work, getting the clutch and shift JUST right, managing the traction, all while exercising mechanical sympathy. EVs may be fun in their own way, but I doubt they'll ever demand as much from a driver as an ICE car. Having said that, this applies to old school cars, not almost anything from the last 10-15 years.

Tesla is a realy quick but it is not race car it's just quick daily, realy quick😅 I think more than 90% owners will not take it for racing on the track but for kicking it down when some "fast drivers" want to race on the road.
