I appreciate this video. My family and I have a Blaxit plan for 2027. We want to save more money and for our kids to be a bit older before we move abroad. We are currently eyeing Panama, Costa Rica or Portugal. My values have changed, I'm over the rat race, I am over worrying about school shootings with my kids, I want a life with comparative ease. I know racism is everywhere, but the prevalence of guns isn't and that is heavily impacting this decision.

My two cents... I haven't been to Portugal but I do know that they recently changed the immigration laws. They have always taxed any US income along with any pensions you may have and with the new laws raising the rate of taxation and actually getting a visa it makes it pretty tough to live there. I've surfed in Central America for decades and Costa Rica has gotten a lot more expensive than people realize and in Panama crime is just about around any corner whereas in Mexico it's not as random. In Mexico the areas where there is most of the crime is isolated and well known enough to just stay away from. The cartels tend to keep things between themselves so if you aren't in a cartel or in their business dealings you will be fine. I retired early a few years ago and moved to Mexico from the LA/Ventura area of CA last year. I've remote beach camped and surfed throughout Baja since the early "80's so I knew what I was getting myself into. I've never had any problems. Although I do a funny story about having two truck loads of machine gun toting cartel members pulling up to our campsite miles off the beaten path. They just wanted to use our fire and ended up cooking us a fish and clam dinner and sharing their beers along with some laughs. Everywhere I've visited here the locals are nothing but welcoming, friendly and helpful. BTW- There is only one or two gun stores in all of Mexico and nobody has any need for a gun here except the Tourist Police, Municipal Police, State Police, the famous Government Federales and the National Guard along with some of those in the random areas where the cartels tend to stay. Buenas suerte y Feliz Navivdad!

We’re taking our first research trip there in 2025 and will try staying in Centro so we can be in walking distance to what we need. Then when I retire in March ‘26, we’ll stay about a month. So glad you found a beautiful place to live free!🌺 my husband and I are coming to renew our Residency in July and moving to Chelem as soon as our house sells in FL. Racism is awful and seems FL there is a lot around including towards the LGBTQ community. Besides the racism in the US we feel the division in other ways with politics as well. We cannot wait to get to MX💃🇲🇽 I think most Americans grew up believing lies that we were the best country to live...I see a lot of beautiful countries that look like better options! US may of been the richest, but thats changing slowly too. I won't miss it when I leave! Good luck to you both!💕

Hello, want to share an experience with all. Born in US but my family came from Guadalajara area in 1940s to California. An aunt and uncle moved to Mexico in late 60s where two of my cousins were born. Anyway I was told that in the 60s my aunt and her kids were at the airport and my 4-5 year old female cousin saw for the first time a black little girl. My cousin walked over to the little girl and with some hesitation reached out and touched the black little girls hair and they both hugged each other. It was all just a learning experience for both little girls with innocent curiosity. A beautiful thing..... In contrast, I have never felt at ease for the most part in my own country for the most part. I went to Guadalajara in 1972 and for the first time in my life I felt that I was in a place where I wanted to spend the rest of my life.

They had assumed you to be from *Subsaharan Africa.* It's still *RACISM* _(in my opinion)._ I'm Not saying that Latin Americans have the same Hatred... Every country has a dirty past and present of how they treat us. If that’s a focus or deal breaker then the US should be the first place to leave. I am a Spanish speaking person from another country who yes, I have a US passport but when I’m there in Mexico I don’t let them know that. I speak to them in Spanish and they are very welcoming! Even moreso than when I was living in africa! I’ve lived all over Mexico and I’ve experienced bad customer service in Merida, prices for certain things went up for me in Puerto Vallarta and Oaxaca. Otherwise, I’ve had more good experiences there than bad. If you are going to go to a country and only assume that they don’t like you there then best to stay home. The world is big enough to find a home to settle in where people will appreciate you. Just don’t come feeling entitled or expecting people to speak English because you refuse to learn the language. Immerse yourself in the culture and they will respect that you are trying to connect with them!

I took my biracial daughter to visit my family in merida when she was 4 ( back in 2008) and we got LOTS of stares and they weren’t in a bad way. People were just very curious because they had never seen a black girl before. People would come up to me and say “ what a beautiful little girl, I love her hair, where are you guys from?” Lol. People still ask for my daughter and wonder what she looks like. I love Merida and I’m proud to be a Yucateca.

@nikkiecotton6532 Usually the racist ones are black and white liberals from the north who came down here to the south with their preconceived notions and making a fuss about nothing. If you bother to check Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, New Orleans, Montgomery, Jackson, Knoxville, Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Miami, Charlotte, Myrtle Beach etc. have black or minority mayors. Many of these places have black or minority police chiefs. If these places are racist as you all seem to think, then why did so many of these places elect non-white mayors despite the fact that the non-white population is much smaller than the white population? We southerners are honest folks, we elect politicians to various offices based on their abilities not on their race, gender, etc.

Humans need to educate themselves that every human flesh is made off same six recyclable elements such as oxygen, hydrogen ( H2O ) , Carbon, nitrogen, calcium , phosphorous. but the soul which is made of thoughts is either bonded with spirit of this world or Holy Spirit that defines a person's happiness. Every soul is imprisoned by the flesh until Jesus Christ the Savior of souls bails out my soul from this flesh. Folks who do not get this are missing out heaven on earth.

Racism is everywhere. Moving to Mexico or any other place for that matter is not going to eliminate it. I’ve been to other countries even Japan and all these places have people that don’t take kindly to African Americans. The United States is a melting pot of all types of people. On top of that there are Mexicans who know that black Africa has ties to Mexico. Vicente Guerrero and Gasper were Mexicans of African descent who are considered to be national hero’s in Mexico.

tech note: your cam looks great, and I can hear her voice fine, but you might wanna consider a lav mic for him, so we can hear his parts as clearly. Or, if you only want to use one external mic, maybe position a boom mic overhead and closer to him than her, until you get a balance of both voices. Cheers!
