being a black guy, i can't say i've been exposed to much racism personally due to people in the fandom, but being referred to as an uncle tom by khord kitty still hit like a proverbial freight.
When I tell y’all I saw a screenshot of someone on tiktok telling a POC fursuiter to; “Go do something more fit for a black person like rapping and leave fursuiting to us whites ^_^” I am saying this genuinely. Like, holy shit. The screenshot was on Pinterest and my jaw actually dropped down to the floor- and just the freeze-frame of the POC fursuiter in suit just staring in utter disbelief that the commenter had the audacity to say that to them- you can’t even see the real persons face but the positioning of the fursuit head says it all-
Lmao I saw that and thought it was fake. If only that girl (girly looking fursuit from the screenshot) had see the start of All Gas No Brakes’s video on a furcon.
@@PrincessofKeys Any community big enough is bound to have bad apples. And the bigger the community, the further out of bounds the bad apples tend to get...
This is a really well-thought out explanation of the idea that minorities can be bigots amongst themselves. It's something that is really brushed under the rug in this fandom, and as a Black guy myself, it's super obvious to me when it rears it's ugly head. Though i still believe a lot of it comes from a lack of knowledge and understanding of inter-minority bigotry, and videos like these are a really important step of education which leads to mitigation. So in short, I appreciate you putting this together. Well done.
I see this in LGBTQ spaces as well. Often pride and other LGBTQ spaces are catered to whiteness, and white LGBTQ people get a sense of immunity for their own implicit biases, and will play their 'card' when called out on the way they exclude BIPOC people from the space. I try to shut it down within the spaces I'm in, and hold other white queers accountable for it, because I want those spaces to be open to my BIPOC friends. I think people in the fandom get this sense that because some people are bigoted to furries, that furries somehow can't also be bigoted. It sucks too because there's not really any systemic or structural oppression of furs, so conflating the experience with BIPOC experiences is kind of gross.
Brian Tamaki not only blamed earthquakes on gays, but specifically watching gay porn. Which he said was occurring at its highest percent in the location where the earthquakes hit. He said "from my own research", which like, why was he looking up gay porn stats huh?
That's how all people attracted to the opposite sex are. Pretty hypocritical given that global warming actually can be pinned on people attracted to the opposite sex.
Transvestite is still a term, it's just a person who dresses in clothing traditional to the opposite gender to the one they identify. It's becoming more common to just remove gender from specific clothing though
Great video, thank you for speaking up about these issues! I hope it encourages more people to educate themselves and help make this fandom a more welcoming place.
@@nataliemoraes2033 ..yeah, hence the “I hope this encourages people to educate themselves and help make this fandom a more welcoming place” statement, lmao
Hate how whenever people talk about racism it's automatically assumed that it's white people being racist to everyone else. That assumption is racist and racism against whites often isn't taken a seriously.
As much as I want this fandom to be accepting towards good kinds of people, no, it's impossible since we have too many types of popfurrs who raised the concept of "clicks over everying" encouraging all kinds of horrible behaviour just to gets as much attention as possible, creating more cespull to promote specific ideologies. It's too late for now, only way is to raise a new generations of furries to different standarts and let the old one be gone naturally.
As long as there are people attracted to the opposite sex in the fandom nothing will change for the better. Let's not kid ourselves and pretend there's hope.
I'm not a furry (Ik my pfp looks like I am one) but I think the furry community is great despite it's issues highlighted in this video. Hopefully the furry community can gradually improve over time to be more friendly with people of all colors and backgrounds!
As a filmmaking student, I can't help but resent the fact that D. W. Griffith was from the triple K (who used blackface in his films) and just happened to also make some of the best breakthroughs in the history of filmmaking. It's one of those moments where it's hard to separate the art from the artist because of his influence.
Yeah not a furry. But got into gaming when it was considered a loser thing even back then being not white, male and a teenager got ya mocked and harassed on forums in game chats. As well as by your family for wasting your life. Theres a reason the n word is now called the gamer word unironically online. Its just gotten worse with shit like voice chat being a thing. Also was part of the early western anime craze same shit happened there too. Now rhat both are mainstream its gotten better in the larger circles of it but alot worse in the niche circles. 2016 also didnt help. Theres alot of people who do guides and videos on both that i cant watch cuz of the super casual racism, sexism and calling people mentally retarded for liking a game they dont. They always get really butt hurt and cry about it when ya call them out as well. All of adults by the way from ages 25-40. Their fans also go on the defense and call ya sensitive for not liking edgy jokes. Which is hilarious cuz thats most of my jokes. Problem is mine are funny or apologize if its too far. Theirs are just statements about what they really think that they call jokes as a defense. Also as a mixed person black people dont like me much cuz im too white to them. I was raised by my mother and stepdad who are white. Bio dad is the stereotypical deadbeat black guy who never paid child support but makes 4x more than both my parents did combine. And as part of the lgbt group no longer an active member cuz i dont go to group outings or events. Cuz they really dont like asexual people, trans people or bi people or poc unless they had to be for apperances. Or anyone that calls them out on it. I was the asshole who called them out and told them to do better. Might just be my state thing tho. Midwest is just diet south after all. It was also a decade ago so maybe its better. Anyway obviously im just giving examples of how minorities love discriminating as much as the majority to make themselves feel better. Never at the people that deserve it tho.
Yeah, I kinda struggle with that. I'm growing up in an european country with way and I mean waay below 1% of black population. Last year marked the first time I've ever seen an african-american person in person in my life. I am literally yet to make eye contact with a black person. Slurs as well as the n-word are straight up just an edgy catchphrase for teenagers and the adults couldn't care less. I have a vivid memory of our class talking about different word groups stuff in our language and our teacher offered to let us write any swear words we could think of on the blackboard while she wasn't looking. All fun and games until wouldn't you guess what word appeared there. Even at the time it felt weird that someone felt confident enough to think it was okay to write that there infront of the teacher and even weirder that they were right as the teacher never adressed it. Why so vivid? It happened this week. I'm in high school. Half of us are almost 18. It was the n-word. Native american halloween costumes are still very much a thing. The word for native americans in our language is still Indian (the exact same as a person living in India). And parents teach toddlers "what does an indian say". There's this holiday in January/February where the 'three wise men' go home to home and ask for money for charity and/or for sweets if the three wise men are children. All good, yeah? Well, one of the three wise men is widely regarded as a black man. So one in three kids walks around in blackface. If this country hates anything, it's romani people. They steal shite, their homes are messy, their family trees are ladders, each family has 20 children, they're dense. And there are basically sayings around this stuff. I've had my mom tell me that my room is like at a g-roma's place when it's untidy. Holy fuck, this place is fucked up. That's just what I can name off the top of my head. Homophobia is surprisingly not that rampant because I guess there are more gay people than all people of an ethnic minority put together and I'm not so sure people know what 'transgender' means yet. But the racism is BAD bad. I'm white as hell and though I've been exposed to stuff like american politics from a fairly young age, I still have a really hard time avoiding doing offensive things which you guys probably take for granted. I do my best to learn and I still mess up. The other day a twitch streamer banned me when I got a gartic phone prompt "csgo ragequit" and I drew a kid smashing their keyboard with a text bubble that read "NI-", which was meant to suggest a slur. In my head I was poking fun at how kids resort to slurs when they lose. In the streamer's eyes I was being a racist dirtbag. And at this point I'm just ranting, but holy fuck, is this shite hard. I know I'm not in the right. It sucks to be called racist, but it probably sucks harded to be a victim of racism whether it's intentional or a misunderstanding. I try my best and I'll keep on trying my best. I'm not that much of a furry, but I am lgbt so I am still a minority who (unintentionally) discriminizes against another minority. This was a really helpful video and I'm just glad that at least I don't do this shite on purpose like these people do.
Every year around Pride my mom (an OG punk) would rant how the atmosphere wasn't right because "you can't forget, Stonewall was a ******* RIOT!" Much respect to you for your appreciation for our history. Great job💚
I feel weird putting furries in like "minorities" like obviously yes being a furry is stigmatised, heavily in some cases. But its not the same as being trans, or being gay or being the target of racism or xenophobia. It is a fandom as the title says, its completely optional to be a furry, its not like you're born a furry its just a fun thing to do. I'm really tired when I wrote this so I don't know if I'm making any sense. But Essentially I think you shouldn't complain too much about being discrimintated against for being a furry, it is just a hobby, albeit a pretty in depth one.
I get you and I agree with "furries aren't an oppressed minority" statement at face value. Here's the thing though: the community is very largely comprised of lgbt+ and/or neurodivergent people, and much of the anti-furry attitude is thinly-veiled queerphobia and ableism. Which makes it quite baffling that there are a significant number of bigots in the community (though it's not so surprising once you realize a lot of those chuds are 4-chan brain-poisoned anons who love to be "ironically cringe" for the joke)
@@FunnyFany oh, yeah thats totally true. I was really tired when I wrote this, but I mean like it doesn't seem like interminority hate when looking at furries in a vacuum. There are definitely a lot of queer furries.
One thing I hate next to bigotry in general is discrimination against folk with disabilities both mentally and physical disabilities. I have Asperger’s syndrome and I mask my condition as it was hell growing up with it.
"We should be proud of our history" when you talk about identities that were made overnight without a significant support group, backing, consistent ideology between those involved or on top of not being remotely tied to anything and saying "remember our history" as if the collective whole of identities are all represented under one unifying principle/concept of 'human rights' is banal & the point falls flat when people start differing in opinion on what that shared goal/end result should be.
You can stack that on top of this idea, that a flag meant to represent a group of one immutable characteristic, _isn't inclusive enough_ because it doesn't represent every single constituent subgroup and/or person. It's just insecurity-driven whining, with the side effect of dividing the former group into smaller divided pieces.
As a black person that just want to be seen as a person, i do question why add black to a flag that represent our sexually. I mean just with me it fells like another unneeded faction that just goes deeper. But thats just me. Its just iffy putting race in place wherr race shouldnt matter or be there. If you gay, you gay.
"What do we need a black lesbian flag for, just use the NORMAL one" My god I have seen that word so many times in the furry fandom, and the fact is, if you use the term "normal" in this way, you are part of the problem, probably.
I'm curious how people feel about POC being racist against other POC. It does happen and is overlooked a ton. A POC tiktok user I follow has others harassing and attacking him all the time for calling out criminals and other troublemakers in his community. And he takes it in stride. But still, it's not right that he has to endure that.
I don't think we should really take Fiddleafox that seriously. I know, the line between jokes and serious stuff it's thin, but still, it's the Internet
I honestly don’t care if people are bigoted like oh someone doesn’t like trans people like oh no what a horrible person, like i don’t care if people dislike trans people or a minority group as long as they’re not harming anyone
@@jackster10101 It's great for you that you aren't as rejection sensitive as others, but humans are all different. It doesn't make one soft to be affected by emotional abuse, particularly when it's deliberately inflicted. That's part of being human. You sound aloof and apathetic to put down others for having different brain chemistry to you. Do you see depression as "just being soft" too? It's not just someone's words. It's a large collection of people's words and if you're being told directly or not that the way you are is "unnatural" or "disgusting" every single day, it's gunna affect you psychologically. The same way we cringe seeing others get hurt in horror movies, words can hurt, or feel inadequate when broken up with. We're empathetic, emotional creatures.
You don't have to care what people call you. But if others are being hurt, it won't kill you to be empathetic and stand up for them, or at least empathise when them when you see it happening. Yes, we can try and let things not affect us, but when it does, telling someone "oh well you're just soft because that doesn't affect me" isn't helpful to anyone but the bigots who see you condoning shitty behaviour and give themselves a big pat on the back for being one of the "strong" ones. You're choosing to shit on people who are already being shit on.

Hey friend, great video but I wanted to ask to please not rewrite transexual history to fit an agenda! Marsha P Johnson has never claimed to be a trans woman, and transvestite is synonymous to cross dresser. What she did was defend cross dressers, gay men, lesbian women, and transsexual individuals, because we all existed around the same sphere at that time. I am a transexual man and this stuff is so frustrating, I get the desire to want to be an ally but spreading falsehoods as facts only increases the misinformation around transsexual history. I, a transexual man, am not the same as Marsha P Johnson in that I have a genuine medical condition, but she was an amazing ally! I do not dress up as my non biological sex for entertainment or drag purposes, it is quite offensive to conflate the two concepts.
Your explanation of how people dont realize theres racists in the furry community feels exactly like the reaction i tend to get when ive mentioned A-phobia in the lgbt. Some people dont know it exists
It’s really crazy, it extents to even furry art. Im not getting into too much detail but let’s just say there is a furry artist who had an webcomic set in the 70s, a lot of the older characters seemed to dislike hyenas, and later in the comic we learn that hyenas are basically considered people of color in this furry universe. Like that just strange to me? Why bring race in to a comic about anthro animals? What separate them? Fur color? Country of origin? And it’s still happening
Well it’s not necessarily a bad thing unless it’s blatantly siding on racism. Social commentary has always been a literary element, like how predators represent minority races in Zootopia.
As a muslim I've faced so much racism. I've been in the fandom for 7 years and never faced racism until I converted to Islam. I've been called slurs and have gotten so many threats and bomb jokes online AND IRL. I was called a terrorist sand n word (hard R) at a con by a middle-aged white man in front of staff. Nobody ever stood up for me or even bat an eye
I am rather open to others at times, when the topic may come up, that I am a furry. It is not to me anything to hide. And I am not a fanatic about it. It's just an interest of mine, like any other interest. One thing I do tell other though, is furries are not the Borg. We are not all one happy group. We don't all agree or get along. - This can be true of many groups. Take the LGBTQ+. Plenty in it say they want the TQ+ removed, to be it's own group, and to have the LGB be it's own group again. But not all in the LGB agree with that. Mostly those that happen to be both trans and gay. Even those who are part of the trans community don't all get along or agree with each-other. Many who are trans are often enough been called transphobic, by those that don't agree with them, despite being trans. And it can be over anything related to them. One such example would be Buck Angle. Who would call himself a trans-sexual. However, many (but hardly all) within the trans community say you can't use that word trans-sexual anymore, for they see it as insulting to them. But Buck Angle says he will keep using that word, for he identifies as such, and refuses to be bullied by others to not use it for himself anymore. And so is called transphobic by others for that, despite he is not just trans, but a trans man who had full body conformation surgery. Something not all who is trans will do, such as Blare Wight. Even plenty who are trans don't feel trans women should be in women's sports. And are called transphobic by other trans people who feel trans women should be let into women's sports. There is a fare divide among those who are trans on that very subject. Caitlyn Jenner, who was once loved by so many trans people when she came out as trans, being called brave, is now one such person now called transphobic for not supporting trans women being in women's sports. So, that be just another example. - Is no surprise to anyone with observation skills, that the mass of people who are religious don't all agree with each other. Though, to be religious, is not being in a minority. It would, in part, depending on what religion a person follows. Even those who are not religious at all, don't all agree with each other either. As it stands, the numbers of those who are not religious grows in places. In some places, those who are not, greatly outnumber those who are. So is hard to say if those who are not religious is in a minority, and can be counted in this topic. - All people are individuals. No matter what group they my be a part of, be it a big or small group. Is just the way it is. Furries, would be no exception.
No kind of self harm better than watching furry drama and commentary videos to bring the fear that I'm only one step removed from being in one of these videos at all times and forcing myself to think that I'm a terrible person at all times spiraling myself into a deep depression that not even intense therapy and a trip to the hospital and talks with crisis workers can solve
Because I am a member of the Orthodox church and must necessarily stand by its historical teachings and dogmas, best I can do about things forbidden by the church is to extend indifference to those outside it knowing that if it's a problem that God will deal with it and only to really hold people in the church accountable to the standard I'm supposed to follow... If that's not good enough then I can't help. This is probably the biggest reason apart from the covid shutdowns that keeps me as one adjacent to the Fandom rather than as one fully into and in support of it... Also ffa was a disaster full of people I can't associate with.
Kinda similar. Not exactly a Christian myself anymore but still align with most of its teachings. I actually used to be a furry since 2011, but furries' soapbox behavior from 2016 onwards got to a point that by 2021 I just couldn't stand the community anymore and stopped interacting with it. Seeing countless figures' hypocrisy later on only reinforced in me that I may never again have any desire to participate in the fandom itself, even if I still enjoy many furry artists' works to this day and still make some art myself. I just miss the age of furry forums like Furry Pile/Furry-2-Furry where nobody was suggesting that the fandom should be any specific way or another; people were just there to share in art and RPs. But now that the internet is mostly social media-based where everyone chooses to wear their beliefs on their sleeve, the fandom has mostly devolved into either self-righteous hypocrites who have a progressive veneer and act as moral arbiters despite having skeletons in their closet, or "apolitical/nonpolitical" hypocrites trying to [not so subtly] promote right-wing extremism. Some places like RU-vid and furry art sites don't seem to suffer from this nearly as much as typical social media or instant messaging platforms tend to though.
@@TurboPikachu what sect that calls itself Christian were you a part of? I know that Catholicism and most protestant denominations are eroding from the inside right now and those that aren't didn't have much binding ecclesiology to begin with and that's one of the reasons why I did become Orthodox recently.
@@ThumbKnuckle I grew up Lutheran, but ever since I was 17 I just kinda drifted away from Christianity. I don't wanna blame my parents but church was more of an obligation than anything. I just feel like I'd be more likely to return to the religion and consistently attend church if my mother wasn't trying to barge into every aspect of my life
@@TurboPikachu half of the Lutherans nowadays have capitulated to the culture and the other half is wondering where the Lutheran church went, I was lcms (Missouri synod Lutheran) for a few months after leaving the non-denominational megachurch Christianity my parents had raised me on, but started having some theological issues with that church compared to the Bible and church fathers it confesses to hold to, namely Christ being cut off from the father on good Friday according to them I decided to look into the case for Orthodoxy and it has now consumed my life, I would recommend at least understanding the heritage of every Christian sect as everyone in protestant circles is looking for apostolic Christianity through interpreting a collection of documents removed from their liturgical context, but keeps letting it pass under their nose by ignoring the Orthodox church because of her different teachings coming to their sects. Not only that but most of the churches mentioned in the book of acts that are around today are Orthodox. Knowing now the heritage of most major religions and practices I know where I stand. Without knowing church history nobody really has a reason to keep the faith anyway I'd say. I would also highly recommend attending an Orthodox liturgy and speaking with people at the parish as an inquirer even if you aren't going to go all in on it.
Now, i am not a poc what so ever but i have seen first hand racism in the fandom. Which i find kind of weird? Like the fandom is built around support and kindness. Right? ...right?
I cannot speak on being a person of color or being in the furry fandom but i think everybody can agree with the statement "the people you surround yourself with whether willingly or not, change your opinions and ideologies". Very good video as always, While watching this video ive had many times where i was like "duh, dosen't everybody know that? " but the more examples you provide and the more i think about terrible people ive met before, i truly feel sorry for them, i only wish for them to quit being so ignorant and take a bit of time to learn about the topic before making an opinion.
A lot of this stuff seems to stem around pure ignorance and laziness it seems. God, everytime i see this topic i get flashbacks of the South Park Panderverse episode, its crazy how a vocal minority of people that can't learn about these topics can do to people just because of their ignorance and lack of knowledge.
Being a black, indigenous and furry guy, i cant describe how i have been exposed and attacked with infinite racism and curiously and personally due to specific furries, and these one are from *Geometry Dash Community* Literally they have threatened me and see me worst than the ped0ph which that community actuay has, on words of them ofc
On the topic of 2 flags meaning the same thing. And why people say "why not just use the one we already have" Because it comes off as race favortism on its own. Theres a multitude of other races. Which aren't slapping their race-brand on symbols. But I wouldn't be surprised if we got a flag version for every single race out there as a reaction to there being a black exclusive flag. The hetero/straight flag was made with such reasoning in mind. As a reaction to every other sexuality having a symbol. TLDR people are mad because one race is being put on a pedestal over others. When the original symbol was all inclusive to everyone.
I guess it complicates things when I as a straight white man find comfort when I chat whit a furry avatar because I don't feel like the bad guy anymore. It is nice to have an avatar that is 80% likely to be non-straight and 50% chance to be non-white so that I am no longer 100% the bad guy in those circles. And I believe the people that go to far feel the same way. "They are the bad guys by default, what is the difference when they act like it?"
With that second one, I partly agree with it. I don’t think that illegal immigrants are much more Dangerous than your average American, or legal immigrant. But I do think it is a good idea to own a gun for self protection purposes, as long as you use it safely, and inlet when necessary it can be very helpful and even life saving if it comes down to it. Just please go to a gun safety course beforehand, so you know how to store it, and use it without accidentally shooting it. Mainly just muzzle control, keep ammo and the gun in a different safe, and NEVER EVER put your hand on the trigger UNLESS you are absolutely shure that you should shoot at whatever is and front of you, and that you are ready to shoot after. If you can’t be responsible with a gun, don’t buy one, you are danger to you and everyone else.
I should have said this first but diplomacy is always the first course of action, and a gun is not the second. Think of all the ways you could handle a distressing situation without killing some moms child, humans are more reasonable than you think, and the police response time isn’t that long in most areas.
As an very young asian person going to a school full of white people. I was scared going because what if people were extremely racist, it wasn’t bad for the first year in a white school but each year I would start hearing more asian racial slurs and some black racist jokes, I would hear a lot more asian slurs than black racist jokes. I had to realize that students will not get in trouble for saying things like that, teachers will act as if they didn’t hear it, students will become more confident saying racist things out loud because other students will think it’s funny and teachers will ignore. The school will talk about how they support other races but when they hear racist slurs/jokes they will ignore it. Having to start normalizing that white people will get away for being racist because most people living in my city are white.
I agree with pretty much all of this. I live in a part of the world where there are all sorts of types of people, and you'd think that'd make people less racist, but people are very racist here lol. I do think however, that everyone has biases, no matter how subtle, and that everyone is racist to at least some degree. It's best we all do our best to be aware of those biases and the extent to which they exist. For everyone of a particular race, they are born looking a certain way, and by human nature, people who look differently than them are going to be subconsciously categorized as 'different' and ripples from that categorization can definitely pop up here and there. Now it's just human nature, and we shouldn't be afraid to be ourselves and walk on eggshells all the time, but we should at least be aware of that biological repulsion of things that are different and think about how that applies to social situation and our relationships with people so that we don't behave unfairly or unpleasantly in any meaningful way. For some people, they really get hung up on that and I think that becomes the foundation of the fostering of a lot of racist beliefs. It starts at that biological predisposition and snowballs into some real nastiness. Emotions tend to shape our beliefs in a pretty major way, especially if we're unaware of that and a bit impulsive by nature.
I recently just found this video on my Watch Later playlist on an alt account looking for a song I saved. I heard some bad stuff about the community but racism is not one I expected, although I have honestly seen that armband before.
The sad part about the fandom, as like he said in the video, that trans people from my experience also have a problem with bigotry... I don't have anything against trans people, or the decision to become trans, but the majority of them just seem to like doing it for the attention and power it gives them. And no, I'm not joking, they get pretty offended even when i mistakenly label them "he/him". unfortunately i do that often without thinking about it, as my social skills are rock bottom most of the time, due to my past and how i didn't really have a childhood bc of my parents, and most of my childhood consisted of bullying, physical and mental abuse. And I'm pretty deep in the Autism spectrum as well, so my lack of social skills also stems from having an underdeveloped brain. Also they mostly are he/him to she/her, so apparently they get more power to abuse bc of a broken system... Most encounters i get now with people are like "If i haven't engaged with u in a conversation then fuck off", and "if I'm in a group conversation already, we're just gonna ignore u and prevent u from being a part of anything". It's kinda as if they see me as "stupid" or "dumb", bc either of my opinions are based off of true research on the Internet, and it is not consistent with theirs, or is bc of my autism. It's also the way they act usually twoards me, everyone seems to try to avoid me usually. Now I'm second guessing if it was really worth it to get a pretty decent rig (RTX 3090, 13600K, Valve Index), only to find out noone really likes me. instead i found a better hobby that's a whole lot more rewarding, and that's just tinkering with my car, it's expensive but the returns seem more emotionally and mentally beneficial to me. It's almost like inanimate objects have better relations with me than people, and that's kinda depressing the more that i look at it...
@@cmaslan, sadly an inconsistent amount... I have really only been able to find people in there 30s or 40s who actually feel like they care, but those are people who are rarely on, and have lives. I don't want to bother people, and I definitely don't want to interfere with others lives, but I'm simply unable find anybody who doesn't abuse my sympathy and compassion who is a peer, or is in the same age group as me... I've had 6 past relationships, and every one of them I, alone had to get rid of bc they didn't understand they've consistently triggered past trauma, or has made me feel uncomfortable around them bc of their actions... I'm now asexual, not just bc of this, but bc I now have to improve upon myself without the interactions of others, which has proven to be difficult. I used to release my frustrations through words, now I punch a punching bag till my hands bleed, I used to find an enjoyment in conversing with others, now I find my enjoyment spending my money till I'm broke and tinkering with my car and computer. not the healthiest way of enjoying life but it's all I got left...
The whole segment on Structural Racism had little to do with racism. Also no we don't need a black lesbian pride flag (just like we don't need an asian, white, arab, or hispanic lesbian or any other pride flag), I don't think race and sexuality need to be mixed. I understand wanting to highlight minority achievements, but doing so only brings division on racist pretenses.
Ok so its crazy that furries just seem to absolutely generally not share my values. I am a conservative Christian. There are some groups of Christian furries out there, but im sure you can imagine its quite niche. So, most of my interaction with the furry fandom is, well not Christian to say the least. But they are racist too? I swear. 0:50 yeah so that's more on my wavelength. I think the way that person went about it is rude and unwarranted and only serves to further divide people, but I do agree with the underlying premise that, well transgenderism is a lie. 1:18 furries are not... a minority group? That's just weird to say isnt it. Its like saying "oh yeah im a starwars fan, im in a minority group" 1:45 again as a christian, not a fan of sexism, not a fan of racism. Ok with the other two just, you know, lets try to be nice about it? Actually have conversations rather than yelling matches and putting eachother down. Like I know from your perspective I am not approving of your *entire being* which is kind of hard to hear. I understand... but that is not my intention.
The problem with "apolitical" people in my experience is that every person I've met whos claimed to be apolitical isn't they are just a closeted biggot. I've yet to meet someone who is genuinely non political rather than someone who says they are to get out of trouble or controversy
@@DaWoWzer are you saying disliking the term apolitical makes me racist? You jumped about 500 miles to make that conclusion. I'm not even offended just amused 🤣.
Yeah... we are kinda put into one collective mass especially online. I've seen a lot of people hate furries just because of something else they've heard someone else say or something they read online where a furry does something cringy and they assume that we all act like that. I don't know how much hate all the communities get online, but Furries definitely has to be somewhere on the top communities on that list.
that'll never be the day. so long as a "community" this massive and down bad continues to exist people will just keep peddling freaks online. there are still kero the wolf fans despite his reception
The real issue plaguing the furry fandom is e621 auto changing femboy to girly, those are two different terms and I do not support it. Femboy is not derogatory and I need to draw a line in the sand.
I absolutely would love to hear you get into the topic of free will, and how so much of it is kind of an illusion that we psychologically and sociologically impress upon ourselves and others. Anyways terrific video! The perfect balance of comprehensive yet concise on what are very complicated and important social topics ^^
@@uselessgamer9978 dude ~2/3 of the fandom is attracted to the opposite sex. They're either hard right homophobes and tankie left wing homophobes that either way think Putin has done nothing wrong.
Honestly, I prefer your way of discussing problematic furries over Tom. You don't generalize the fandom because of these toxic furs, which many of us can appreciate. You aren't biased, and lay it out how it is. I wished more channels that covered these topics took the same approach.
@@JoyfulNerd400 Google what equity is , this is a form of it, you get mad when you’re not included in something for once in your life, there’s billions of videos you can watch to see your races issues and history documented, stop coming on black history posts and saying what about you like there not existing media for you to view
Hii!! I’ve been a long time lurker of your channel, and every single time you upload I get shocked that your channels isn’t bigger! Your vids have some real quality!! Keep it up
The second half of the video seems to be littered with indefensible propositions, off-topic nonsense, and even hypocrisy. It's only somewhat watchable bc of the cute drawing talking to me. Oh yes, go on a needlessly pedantic rant about how 'apolitical' is meant to mean that they're "anti politics" when you already clearly know that the point was to say they have actual freedom of speech and aren't gonna go after you for believing things. Also yes, l need you to tell me things like "it's okay not to be political". Thanks for being a good parent. Just by scrolling through the titles and thumbnails of your other videos I'm willing to bet there are moral propositions that you'd shame people for not accepting, and I'm willing to bet you believe politics is of moral importance. That would logically entail that you DON'T actually believe it's okay to be apolitical. But sure, thanks for telling me it's okay to be apolitical dad.
I've been in the fandom since 2009. I had to leave the RL aspect behind, because the weird microaggressions just wears on you. Straws on the camel's back. There's always overt racism, but because of its cowardly nature, you really only see it online, and they can be blocked.
I wish you linked to the creator you credited, or at least showed her username on screen. Because you just mumbled her name and i have no idea how to find her.
My bad! I put the link there now. It should work. I'll double-check when I'm home and have access to a computer (youtube studio real glitchy on mobile) but thank you for reminding me
@@Clappedseal I now have nothing to complain about. Great work! Thanks for doing what you do. Don't forget to platform and give light to all the positive forces in the fandom. It is extra important as you are one of the few creators in the fandom who are honest about the sadly very real bad and dangerous aspects of the fandom.
So in theroy if I make a white lesbian flag, no one should be offended because a special one just for black people exists already (and multiple other races except specifically white). I always thought we were all in this together. Not advocating for separation of races.
You’re missing the point. There’s a black lesbian flag because black lesbians are very underrepresented in the lesbian community. White lesbians are usually the standard and the person you would think about if someone told you to think of a lesbian. People would most likely be offended because the making of these flags are usually made in resentment towards the flags made for representation of black people. They usually never have good intentions behind them.
I am fully white, and when I’m alone I’m not afraid to say the n word, I’m not racist at all I just think that it’s just a word end it shouldn’t matter if you say it at all ( don’t worry I don’t say the hard R ) I would never say it to a black person and even though I make jokes I think people of color are just normal people like everyone else
Interesting I’m part black and my white friends say nigga as well lol and as long as they ain’t saying the hard R unless we making jokes (Jokes) then I really don’t care who says and also CONTEXT MATTERS. I’m also glad someone isn’t a complete one sided donut.
This is a healthy approach. My friends and I personally call eachother crakkas and niggas all the time. Its a borderline term of endearment at this point lol. Its almost like theres more nuance to this than "racist" or "hecking tolerant and inclusive"
Crime shows actually do show disproportionate numbers compared to actual crime stats, but that's because they show way more non-black offenders compared to the actual statistics. Despite being a minority by population, black Americans commit an overwhelming majority of homicides in the US. Over half. Please do check the statistics.
@@justarandomhorrorfan7899 Why unfortunately? Transgenderism is bad, because the genitals are not a toy and a sex change can seriously damage health. Moreover, after a sex change, a person spends almost all his life on hormones. Homosexuality is bad because same-sex sexual intercourse has a higher chance of contracting HIV/AIDS. LGBT people also hold parades, pride months, wave flags, etc. But straight people don't do that. Do you have any questions?
I remember being told that I said the n word when i was a third grader. At this point if my life I didnt even know what curse words were let alone racial slurs. Idk if i said a word similar to that not knowing what it ment but I had alot of bullies during 1st 2nd 3rd grade years, most of which were black kids. Which im not sure why, my guess it was some sort of racism but idk, I was a young and dumb child.
i wouldnt say racial education is a way to prevent racisim as it just brings the topic up in younger children or teens and more often than not teaches someones agenda of creating more hate within the population and usualy ends up with more people being hated on or a group being put on a pedestal and teaching people that they are oppressing or are opressed and that creates conflict with people who have nothing to do with any of it.
