Racket has an extensive standard library that even includes support for creating cross-platform graphical user interfaces. Its GUI library is flexible but imperative and verbose, thanks to its reliance on the class system. In this talk, I will present a new library, built atop racket/gui, for creating GUI applications in a declarative style. I will review its advantages and disadvantages compared to racket/gui and demo building a small UI with it.
Bio: Bogdan is a software developer based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He is the author of several Racket libraries, and he runs an e-commerce business built on top of Racket.

I really enjoyed that. I love how Racket enables "expression of intent" versus finagling the language you're working with. This was a cool example of almost completely eliding the technical details while expressing your intent.

While watching the live coding example here, I notice that Bogdan is using Emacs with both Evil-Mode and Racket-Mode. But it looks like Bogdan's also using some other Emacs package to do structured editing on the fly. Does anyone know what that might be? Since I'm an aspiring racket programmer who already uses Emacs and also relies on Evil-Mode, it's important to me to have a good structural editing package that plays well with Evil. It looks like Bogdan has a good setup here, and I'd like to recreate that, if possible.
