Phew! Wow Carl! I was breathless at the end of this too. I have listened to Ari Elsinger and Gordon Smith play like Lonnie and they are very good, but you are more fluent and capture the tumbling nature of his wonderful style. Bravo!

Between 1926 and 1932 Lonnie recorded more than 150 songs, almost all in the same key/tuning (D position, often with a capo and in drop D or drop G tuning) and in fingerstyle. Mayo Williams, an important producer, told him to change his style. Lonnie started recording again in 1937 and played with a flatpick and in standard tuning. Quite different than his previous recordings. He kept that style till he died in 1970. He didn't like to be reminded of his old style. Here's a good example of his modern style ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FS36Mt0OCCM.html Sadly, there is no footage of his old style.
