@monroe they weren't before but now they are pretty solid...he's not saying that just to fanboy, at first when Adrenalin 2020 came out it was ass anyone would admit that but they fixed the issues.
@monroe lol my 5700xt is extremely quiet with temps never passing 70 degrees, where do you get your info from? Intel fanboys? Also from the day 1 I never had a driver issue. I'm really starting to believe these people with issues may have horrible Psu's or bad cooling in their PCs
The thing is, the 5700XT isn't punching above it's class, that is it's class. The others are just too expensive for mid range cards, or mid-high range. I miss the old days of affordable graphic cards, and people not defending the stupid high prices.
Luan Le Ngoc honestly man I would just wait, I know everyone says that but within the next 3-4 months amd and nvidia should both have some amazing cards coming out for these prices most likely with better performance

You are a lier. From start 5700xt was declared as an equal to 2070. But some lunatic wrote and make fake videos, what 5700xt is equal and even better than 2070 super. OK, it's finally proven 5700xt is weeker than 2070 super on about 9% and still has troubles with drivers. 2070 super - just works from 2019. Without pain, without troubles.

It's a reflection of the timestamps in the video description... I should check some old videos that already had timestamps and see if the system is back-trackable. Edit: Answer: No. It's not back-tracked. It could be an additional setting in the uploader's settings, and it could also be a new API that requires old videos to be somehow updated or reuploaded.
Raytracing isn't really worth it in this gen, since only some games supports it and some even look good without rt but hopefully nivida realese the 30xx series with alot of improvement
It's been known that the 5700XT is slower than the 2070super, some of these results with it (5700XT) however are somehow lower than even stock users i know with 3900X, 3700X and 3800X users which are due to frequency being higher on intel, slower in 1080p gaming

I've been and remain Extremely Happy with my reference 5700 XT. I Love the gaming performance and visuals on my 32' Freesync monitor. With Radeon Image Sharpening everything at 1440p looks basically like native 4k and again performance is phenomenal. If I give my card just 6watts extra over stock and up the max fan speed to %50 (over the default %42) I get an highly consistent clock speed of 1942MHz while drawing only 189watts at %100 utilization. Temps are fine and with headphones you'll just experience Excellence. I know there are AIB cards that are better, but even the reference blower design has worked extremely well for me. Also, I have 3 monitors and never had any driver issues. Can't wait for nextgen GPU's from AMD, nvidia and Intel.
I hope you would show or give short details about the max temperature and power usage of each card everytime you release reviews like this. That would really help us and make your videos as reference. That's something I've been looking to your videos. But all in all, you make great reviews. I thank you for that. Keep it up. God bless ^_^
Just saying thank you for breaking down your video into chapters. I still watched the whole thing, but found it so much easier to go back to certain points for reference.
Wow, I was literally debating between the two cards. I landed on the 5700xt. I pretty much only play Tarkov on 1080p and didn’t see the value in the extras from Nvidia.
@@mrbubble9618 Not a single issue. I got the PULSE version and I also haven't seen it hit above 60 degrees . Amazing card and the Radeon software is so good. I had an nvidia card before this too and actually prefer the radeon software to shadow play. So many awesome features
I would really like to know how many "gamers" recommending 2070S's for 1440 no matter the cost (cause moar frames moar better) actually own a high refresh monitor and/or include one in their recommendation... Personally I've met one that still has a 1080p60 monitor with his 2070, and one that I convinced to upgrade to a 1440 (from 1080) to go with his 2080 but he couldn't afford 4k or high refresh 1440. If you're on a budget like me where the whole system is relatively out of date and you can only afford to upgrade 1 thing at a time; unless Nvidia drops prices by 15-20% I just don't see a future there. Great video as always! Thanks for following up on the 2060S.
Almost everyone in my country is recommending 2070s over 5700xt lol, they think that it's better because it's nvidia and think that amd is for the poor and miners
in my country (Argentina), due to all the taxes hardware is really expensive, a 5700xt is about 760usd, i managed to get a 5700xt for the same price as an 1660ti in my country, i paid the card 430usd so it was a good purchase i think.

this is a great review - thanks team. I just upgraded from a rx580 to a rtx 2070 super. Yes i knew the better value card was an xt5700 and the performance would have been close but the reason i did this was for a) i wanted stability b) i wanted something quiet and cooler running c) had some longevity d) had cuda support for doing funky stuff like deepfake and AI/ML. It was always hard to pick between the 2 and I sometimes have buyers remorse for paying the extra but when all said and done its done now and overall feel good about it. Like I said both great, depends on your personal requirements. Nice.
Don't feel bad. I just did the same thing. I was debating between the 2 cards and decided on the fact that Nvidia just works and it will be a fantastic card for a couple of years in my rig. PS I also had a rx580 8gb and it has frame stuttering and stability issues on many games that I enjoy.

Excellent review, getting ready to build a new gaming system, was going to purchase a 2070 but after your reviews cant justify the fps to dollar difference, so 5700xt for me!
Thank you for including results of a 2070 non super. Makes me feel marginally better about my card that its still used by some benchmarkers even though it became entirely obsolete 4 months after I spent $500+ on it.
It's insane how DLSS has gone from laughed at to extremely impressive with an update. It's definitely over sharp and should either be implemented a little better or have a sharpening setting but I'm impressed. With the new consoles theoretically being on par with upper mid range of this generation of graphics AMD and Nvidia are both gonna need a big upgrade to justify the price premium of high end products
I think DLSS is the future, all gpus should get that technology, it is most important than Raytracing. A mid end gpu could run 4k games using DLSS, that is just amazing
I had a 5700xt. The drivers were terrible. Weird stutter in many older games. Others also having similar problem. Replaced with 2070 super and couldn't be happier. Worked perfect straight out of the box. No messing around needed.
I’m all for the price to performance from AMD, but I’ve always had bad experiences with their drivers, which Is why I went the Nvidia route this time around.
@@jordanlarkin5807 Nvidia doesn't even have a AMD relive equivalent, c'mon now. Also, the most recent 5700XT drivers work great, don't uodate the drivers without knowing what'll be affected, research the update before doing so, like iOS for apple or android 10 on androids.

I had the Radeon 5700 XT for a few months and I had a good time with it but I began to have a variety of issues. Black screens. Stuttering. Random game crashes. I spent over a week figuring out ways to fix it by adjusting settings and trying different drivers. I youtubed how to optimize/fix these isssues hundreds of times and watched every advice on it. I still havent escaped these stupid issues. I decided to just buy the 2070 super and return the Radeon 5700 XT. Im done feeling like a beta tester for amd’s card.
I would agree with this video but, I used to own a 5700XT and it was garbage. US prices put the 2070S and 5700XT about $50 apart. 2070S is the better gpu at these prices IMHO. This is coming from an exclusive AMD user for years so take that for what it's worth.
I've been hearing not so good things about the 5700XT. Good thing I kept reading the comments. So the 2070S sounds more reliable for gaming even if it's a little more expensive. I currently own the RX 480 and its meh. I want to run Half Life Alyx with no problem. Looks like I'm swapping over to NVIDIA this time boys
The cards great but theres a huge amount of people having issues with the drivers on AMD cards I wanted to like the gpu but brand new out of the box it crashes of every game due to drivers not my system or setup....
I come to Hardware Unboxed because they primarily feature 1440p results, others focus on 1080p or 4k . My comment on 'comments' is that it looks like with DLSS enabled 5700xt & 2060 super have equivalent performance ..so HU again demonstrates that pricewise this is a good matchup . nVidia like Intel have been at a premium for a perceived bit more performance. HU did a price comparision previously, adding fan price to cpus that ship without & then restacking their results by'value' & it reinforced that alot more performance came from AMD. Would like them to shut down the fanboy crap feedback by featuring some freesync & gsync pricing stacked into results that perform better than 60fps ..ray tracing maybe the future but having to jump into a 2070 super to see a reflection is VERY costly, the 2060 performance sux . Thanks again Hardware Unboxed for some illuminating results & look forward to this content - so many others test at release , but you refining & retesting with VALUE focus is always worth watching
Oh, well AMd has a special little button on their driver application under the update driver section that allows you to report bugs and crashes. Don't know if you never saw it, looked for it, or are just lying.
You can report on the website and on the Driver application.. the problem here is everyone reports bugs to NVidia but when AMD has bugs they just return the GPU lmao how dumb is that?
Because of how Tim described DLSS 2.0 in Control, I bet future results with DLSS 2.0 will behave more like Youngblood. Full disclosure: I own a 5700 XT. Here’s Nvidia’s problem: the new consoles will have RDNA, and a growing percentage of the PC market will also have RDNA, so even though Nvidia basically has a key to free performance now, they have to incentivize developer support until they can run it completely through the driver, which may never happen. Thanks Steve for the thorough testing with context.
I find funny how 21% difference isnt enough for you guys on some games because of the 25% price difference, what are you expecting, a better performing by 30%, Ray Tracing, better drivers temps and cooling, construction quality and 1%`s?? Wtf! Its already clear that the 5700xt is a great value card, but by any means the 2070 super is bad, Ray Tracing and DLSS 2.0 with all the factors mentioned and new consoles coming I see this reasonably good for both AMD and Nvidia
If somebody already owns a decent gpu atm. then RTX 2070S is overpriced in the light of incomming new cards. AMd's pricing strategy does them and the buyers more favor.
Nvidia trouble themselves for early DLSS fiasco on release, and only 4 games currently support it. Even the RT cores in most benchmark aren't used, which is a somewhat wasted sillicon. Hopefully a lot more game and devs support those tech, as do both AMD and Nvidia to improve it.
DLSS uses the tensor cores on the chip. The RT cores are for ray tracing. Though nvidia did just release a beta to use tensor cores for your voice. Haven't tried rtx voice yet. But people already tried it. It sounds good.
I had a MSI 5700XT Mech and I recently just switched over to a 2070s because i was so tired of the crashes or black screens, driver issues over and over again and the constant thermal throttling. You can hate on me all you want, im just here sharing my story.
Why do I keep watching these videos? I already know my RX 5700 XT (Sapphire pulse) is the best card on the market for this price range. I have some major insecurity issues for my first build. For those wondering this card has been a great experience so far! Runs great, the only thing I did to double check and make sure things were running smoothly was go on AMDs site and use their cleanup utility to make sure everything was clean. And then I downloaded the latest drivers from their site and forgot about it. There have been no black screens, or any issues so far after a month of playing. Every game I have thrown at it runs like a charm, and the temperature never gets above 60 degrees no matter how hard I try to do it. Some people may disprove of what I am about to say, but I used the Adren 2020 Performance tuning automatic overclocking feature and never had to worry about anything again.
Chris Chris yes, I bought the Gigabyte OC from Newegg @ 409.99. I haven’t had any driver issues yet. I am fan of AMD software. It runs COD medium settings at 1440p and averaging 150 FPS.. no lag or tearing.

For the ones that wanted DLSS to be tested, let me inform you that there is Trixx boost for all games in the Radeon weapon list that works great and ups FPS without losing in percievable quality.
Trixx Boost just add in the registry: DALNonStandardModesBCD1 = 21 76 12 24 00 00 00 60 16 32 09 18 00 00 00 60 So anyone can populate it with your own resolutions, aspect ratios and hz;
Trixx is not the same as DLSS, DLSS (particularly 2.0) will look better simply because its using hardware acceleration to re-inject detail into the image, Trixx reduces the rendering resolution and then upscales it again using image sharpening, so its using sharpening to clean up the naturally soft image of lower resolution, DLSS is not this at all, Nvidia too offers sharpening but DLSS rebuilds the image and they are finding 2.0 often even looks better... than native 4k. your right though its probably not perceivable to most gamers but those even playing with the tech are most likely to be looking even harder at the end result. there is no getting around it amd does not currently have a competing technology to DLSS, sharpening a downscaled image does not get close.
@@jinx20001For now AMD even disabled the DirectML filters available to enhance screenshots on the Crimson galery. After the DirectML filters, they only need to add a good image reconstruction algorithm (even a open source one) all these filters to be enabled like RIS. That would be a good enough competition even at lower quality if the compatibility is widespread.
@@brunogm You forgot to mention that DirectML being a Microsoft tech is also in the Xbox Series X (news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/03/16/xbox-series-x-glossary/). Microsoft also owns quite a few game publishers all of whom will more than likely be taking advantage of this technology as well as DXR, Mesh Shading and VRS. This will quickly move from console to PC as very little if any porting will be required since the new console is expected to be running a special version of Windows 10. What this means is that drivers for this functionality already exists on the development kits but probably won't be released until after the launch of the Xbox since this is a Microsoft show. Anything for the new Xbox will be compatible with the new RDNA2 cards from AMD, that's a given. So while right now DLSS has support in 4 games we can expect DirectML to be in many games in a short period of time. Even if DLSS is better in terms of performance/quality, DirectML will have widespread adoption so everyone including Nvidia needs to support DirectML. This is especially important for consumers as future players enter the GPU market such as Intel which will allow them to provide similar features and hopefully keep costs under control for new GPUs. The real winner here is Microsoft. While AMD reaps the rewards of tying up this partnership and being a good, reliable partner. It's all about the long game.

08:48 seems an unfair comparison to me...it would be more conclusive to compare DLSS 2.0 with TRIXX Boost and Raedon Image Sharpening enabled on the same scale although I cant even go as low as 960p on the Nitro+ (seems nonsense anyway as this is below 1080p) being on 1440p res. so I think you guys should maybe do a followup as render low res and upscaling is already a thing on AMD cards. I use it for considerably dropping the power consumption as I´m fine to play on 60fps stable/1440p for most games. Thinking of it I think Raedon Software allows for scaling too now

I had a friend of mine who was like this: Hey what you would you recommend for around 450 euros I sad the RX 5700 XT He asked if it was an Nvidia card I said no He asked what was the closest Nvidia card to it I sad the 2060S was about the same price but 10% slower and the 2070S was 100 euros more expensive at minimum and around 10% faster. He said he'd rather have the 2060S and eat the 10% just to brag that he had an Nvidia card because no one would know what a 5700XT was. Moral of the story? For most people bragging rights and name recognition mean more than the few extra %. This is the reason why AMD cards will never sell well unless they are 20-30% faster at launch than their Nvidia price competitor. It's rather retarded but that's one of the best examples of Nvidia's mindshare
lol.......AMD only sell their cards because they are cheaper then Nvidia ones, and secondo: Nvidia was, is and will be the first in every new GPU technology ,the Nvdia GPU's are always more reliable , stable and efficient , the drivers are well programmed , many games uses Nvidia technology , so they are the leader of this market not by chance , and that's why many people recognize Nvidia more than AMD .........AMD only exist just to be the cheaper option .......

I really really wanted an 2080 Super. I ended up getting the 5700xt on black friday for $250 Rakuten deal. I couldn't pass it up. With budget allowing I'll probably get an Nvidia card for my next build but that won't be for 4+ years. Thank you for the excellent review/testing.
That borderlands 3 result makes me happy since i bought the radeon for that game instead of the 2070s. Thats crazy that you can spend $100 less on a gpu and get better performance.
in most titles 2070s get better performance so your comment is kind of false, there are a few titles, like borderlands 3 like you just said that get better performance but how you put it is saying it gets better performance across the board
For me, I went with the 2070s because I have been burned by Radeon drivers too often in the past (They used to be REALLY bad). Granted, I haven't owned a Radeon card since AMD took over, but I still saw plenty of complaining about AMD drivers in 2020 when researching new hardware. Its worth the price for the peace of mind knowing that I am going to get quality drivers and support with an Nvidia GPU.
All the more reason to just wait until Fall for the new generation GPU's. AMD definitely holds the value crown, but we should finally be getting more performance per dollar from both teams. The 2000 series was very overpriced, and the 5700xt won't perform well in future titles.
Will probably end up buying the 2070 super too. Because nVidia's game drivers are the best in the business; they constantly release drivers that boost performance in various games, and they release innovative features like GameStream (playing your PC games streamed on your nVidia Shield or phone or tablet or TV), and FreeStyle (which lets you apply image enhancement processing in games, for example it makes GTA5 look like a 2020 title with amazing sharpness, HDR-style graphics, lively colors, etc), and RTX (which several games are locking themselves into even though there is generic raytracing now that Radeon supports too), and many innovative things such as DLSS (dynamically rendering a game at lower res and upscaling it via AI on the GPU to make it look almost as good as native 4K for example). I really don't think I can switch to AMD... nVidia's software components are just too great. Sure, the performance is similar, but the software is what takes nVidia to the top. Edit: But I am thinking of possibly dual-booting to Mac (hackintosh), in that case I need the Radeon GPU instead. Because a Radeon is natively supported by Macs but nVidia isn't... Hmm. :-) But if I only run Windows, the question is easy, nVidia is the better card and has the better software. Haven't decided yet. Edit 2: Okay after a bit more research, I will skip the Hackintosh. MacOS is really hard to run on AMD processors because it constantly requires recompiling the kernel to add AMD code since it's not an Intel CPU. And can break anytime. And the OS itself is decent and the apps are always beautiful on Mac, but I have used a Windows machine for a year now and really love how Windows 10 looks and how free I am to use any apps I want. Mac apps are really limited. I used a Mac from 2008 to 2019 and after getting used to Windows 10 I really don't miss it, except that apps look prettier on Mac. Meh. So nah, I will go with nVidia and keep using Windows only!
@@BenderdickCumbersnatch Let's see about that in a couple of years ... Friend got a GTX 650 and I got a R7 265 back in 2013. Guess which card became absolute and lags even on league of legends
