Thank you so much for this lovely video, I have a question : How will we do this same thing for Spend completed vs the monthly budget assigned Over traffic source?
Thank you for your video ! It is very precise! I have one question, In case that you have many values for regions. How do you filter the top 5? Thanks!
Thanks for your kind words. You could use index() function to create a rank based on measure value then filter the top 5. Check out below video with similar scenario on how to filter top, bottom 10 values. hope that helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X_K0l9DXp6c.html
Hi, I followed all the steps, but I figured the path has not been assigned to each record, so when I set the table calculations to compute with path(bin) it doesn't really follow the path. How can I solve this? Thanks a lot!
Hello, thank for this great tutorial, much appreciated My question is : I have been trying to implement the same idea but for each circle to represent a specific percentage (not up to 270°)( trying to combine this tutorial with the one where you create percentage charts) I was wondering if it's feasible or not, if yes any help is much appreciated as I'm currently stuck. Thank you
Hi, Apologies for late reply. Are you referring to Sunburst chart ? If not could you please provide more detail as if you are only trying to create one ring with different colours to complete full circle? Please check below tutorials for reference: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ecpi0xCOwHc.html Radial heat map ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z-2gBok4I9A.html In this you can use one ring and multiple segments but each of the segments will have same dimension but you can change the heatmap. Hope that helps
Thats a great question Wendy :-) In my opinion , I can think of only two benefits : - Radial bar chart are used where there is less space on the dashboard Example : you might have seen it on Apple Watch or some fitness apps - Second use of radial bar chart is purely from aesthetic point of view to enhance the artistic side of chart. In most of the scenarios bar chart will be the best bet and if you want it to be more artistic than you can use radial bar chart.
First thing is first, thank you for this amazing vid and for awesome explanation. May I ask how can I do this calculation for count of orders per region for example?
Thanks Ramy, You could use any measure value to build this chart. For example: where we have used Sum(Sales) replace that calculation with CNT(OrderID) Hope that helps. Cheers!
Hey thanks for this got it working great. Only issue I have is my volumes double as adding the path data source duplicates the rows from original source. Anyway to get round this?
Hi Edward, thanks for your feedback. With data densification, we used two points between 0 and 270 . What it does is that for every row it creates a duplicate row I.e one with path value 0 and other with 270 So in order to overcome this, you need to divide all your measure values by 2 Hope that helps.
thank you for sharing! i have added to my sales review Dashboard and is a fantastic way to visualize category sales! i do have one question. I tried adding unit % CHG to the tool tip and it only shows the % at the end and beginning of the radial chart. any ideas on how i can show the % on any point of the chart? thanks!
Thanks for your feedback. As this chart is based on technique of data densification, the radial comprises 270 points. When you try to add the % change on tooltip, it will show on all the 270 points. Thats why its recommended to show tooltips at the start or at the end of radial chart. Hope that helps :-) Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. cheers!
HI, Thank you for this tutorial, please I really need an explanation on something because I am really confused. Initially, I thought the radial chart would give us the longest radial based on the total value of the sales, but after computing this I realised that the total value I got does not tally with yours for each region. In my chart, I got the west region as the highest sales with value of 725,458 but your analysis gave us south with the highest value of 22,638. Please Kindly help clarify this because I am confused. Thank you
ohh, I went back now and i figured it out, the tutorial is based on maximum sales value for each region, I was thinking it was total sales value, i have edited the @sales and @maxsale formular to sum([sales]) to get the total sales value for each region. Thank you for the tutorial...Hoping to see more
Hi Komar, Tooltips works fine with this chart. Could you please provide more details and share the link of your dashboard with the error and i will have a look. Cheers!
Hi!! I followed this and when I go to format the table calculation for "Max Sales", the size on each bar did not change, they are still distributed evenly. I triple checked my calculations and everything aligns. Any advice?
Hi Shawna, Could you please share your dashboard as it will help me to investigate further. As an alternative, please download the dashboard from my public profile for your reference. public.tableau.com/app/profile/gurpreet.singh2669/viz/HowtocreateaRadialBarChart/RadialBarChart Regards Gurpreet
Hi Ajit, there are 2 ways to create such charts using published data source: - By downloading a local copy of published data source and then join it with excel the way i showed in this tutorial for data densification - Second way is to use one of the existing measure field in the data set and create a bin using its min and max value for data densification. Hope that answer your question. Cheers! Gurpreet
Can we use filter also in these custom charts. For example I want to add year filter then the radial chart will automatically change Or I need to do something... Plz reply.
Hi Kartik, Yes, you can use filters in these custom charts and the chart will automatically adjust the length of these radial bars based on the measure you are using. Cheers! Gurpreet
Great question @Kristen. Yes you can accomplish it with a LIVE data source connection. As shown in this tutorial, I have used Live connection to sample superstore data source. However if you are trying to connect it to tableau published data source on your in-house tableau server or tableau online then you won't be able to do that. Hope that answer your question :-) Please feel free to reach out If you need more information. Cheers! Gurpreet
Hey, thank you so much for your video. But when I try to do what you do at 12:00, I get an error which says "Argument to MAX(an aggregate function) is already an aggregation and cannot further be aggregated." Could you please help?
hi, I ran into this issue. You will want to create a "Fixed" calculation so that your field is no longer an aggregation. EX: { FIXED : COUNTD('TABLENAME'])}
Please download the dashboard from my public profile for your reference public.tableau.com/app/profile/gurpreet.singh2669/viz/HowtocreateaRadialBarChart/RadialBarChart Hope that helps to investigate the issue.
Hi Suneel, thats a great question. You have given me something to think about :-) I will get back to you once i figure out a solution. In the meanwhile if you find the answer, please do share. Cheers!
