I'm so happy that this translations exists! I think the positive consensus among critics show that there's a historical trend of translation dominated by patriarchal views. We gain so much by revisiting these texts after social change due to feminism (e.g. the movement to sexism and oppression). I loved reading the Heaney translation of Beowulf and I can't wait to read this one. Thank you for the work you all are doing!

As a Jewish man, my heroes are scholars, writers, and teachers. I read Beowulf (and Maria Headley's novel) with great interest as an insight into a foreign culture, but it doesn't rsonare with me. Has anyone done a similar work on the Jewish warrior-monarchs?
