Please note that I will not be able to continue recording new Louis L'Amour content (copyright reasons). This audiobook is simply a revision of old content compiled into one complete video. It is also an attempt to coax a verdict out of the L'Amour foundation since they have been unresponsive to my requests to get a license to record. Enjoy!
Louis "LÁmour was a favourite western author of mine and it remains till today a favourite of my son, too. Thank you for giving us so much pleasure. Between us we have almost all of his novels. My eyesight is not too good now so I listen to his audiobooks. So thanks.
I was a US Navy submariner back in the 80's and 90's. We had so many Louis L'amour books in the ship library. I read everyone I could find. My favorite pass time on patrol.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! What an author to stumble across! I did love Radigan but I must say that L'Amour's To Tame a Land is even better. You can also find the complete audiobook on my channel. Thank you for the support!
Interesting that Ratigan is becoming more popular! I have listened to Ratigan many times, read book also, comforting because, he is every man that is independent, strong, has a plan and works every day to complete his life, ..he is the human that we all want to be, no matter what, have faith, keep fighting ❤
Read some of the comments, of course , Ratigan is what all men hope to be, .. women also..philosophy for humans in general, thanks Louie L'Amour ❤ I have listened to this audio many times.. good for sleep and courage for anything that takes courage 😊 have read all his books and passed them on ❤
Hi Dorothy. Thank you so much for your kind words! I see that you wanted to donate to our team and wanted a safe mechanism to do so. That is very kind of you and here is our PayPal account: paypal.com/paypalme/MackMakesAudiobooks
I'm so glad you enjoyed them! I definitely hope to read some more Louis L'Amours as soon as they enter the public domain and I am wanting to try my hand at some of Zane Gray's books.
I’m working in a tiny trap house trim room by myself in a room smaller than a prison cell with the dehumidifiers and air conditioning as loud as you can imagine. Thankfully I have noise cancellation headphones and found your channel. So today I wasn’t in my little hidden job, I was in Colorado and New Mexico hearing this wonderful tale. I’m sorry you can’t make more L’ amour you did great at this one.. thank you
Lol. His family is All about the $$ they can make off of his books. I guess you have to understand how bad his publishers were about his share of the books. I can run down to the rummage shops and buy his books for pennies. I just want to enjoy hearing his stories. I think your accent is best suited for the early Sackett, Chantry, Talon and The Walking Drum stuff. And remember we in the US have a bastard pronunciation of many things. For example our first vowel is often long for no reason. I'm enjoying your work sir! I also listen to another fine gent from northern Ontario! With me living to the Hanging Judge from Fort Smith Arkansas, I'm kinda partial to the southern slang!
It's a tough one. I think it can be a bad thing if it is the case that L'Amour's family makes it their business to sponge off his creativity; however, I bear no ill will to the L'Amour family - they have done a great deal to keep the legacy of the West alive.
@@MackMakesAudiobooks Oh! I agree! I agree with the sponging term. Though we have to remember that while he wrote those amazing short stories, and was paid a mere penance, they were trying to pay bills. Now that he's made his merger millions, er or thousands, he's finished as it were. I bear them no ill will mind you. But it... I'm rebellious. It pisse$ me off. Do your justice and let the cards fall where they may. Express that your work is in the reading. That is Your creativity! The work of script is his and you give due respect to that. I have these books that I bought at the "dime store". I am searching for an individual with a style of expressing what I already own.
Please note. Folks like you keep writer's like Louis Lamour alive. This tik tok generation doesn't care for his works or any other. His descendants foundation should be aware of this. Thanks for the wonderful read.
You do realize there’s a huuuuuuge age gap there, right? Just like you prob don’t like the newer things doesn’t make you right or wrong. Period. Can’t we just accept everyone for their differences?

Mack is trying, Louis L'Amour foundation won't let him read books anymore, and his voice works, that hard to accomplish , I'm almost blind so really disappointed
If you would like to support my work, here are three ways you can: (1) SuperThanks: See the ❤️ with the $ inside it by the👍button under all my videos. (2) Patreon (see the "About" tab of my channel) (3) PayPal (see the "About" tab of my channel)
Mack, you've done an admirable job with this narration of this book 📖 👏. However, I will now critique certain minor things which could only improve the experience. The pronunciation of some surnames of Gallic extraction can be daunting. I.e. Barbeau is pronounced correctly "BAR--BO" The sping you just referred to on top of the mesa Radigan just climbed with his horse 🐎 nearly floundering is pronounced "O-HO" as many Spanish words can be daunting as well. Otherwise keep up the good 👍 work hopefully 🙏 you will be able to continue with the L'amour backcatalog. (I've seen others who've been doing as you with Louis L'amour's works 💪 and can only presume/surmise it must be a glitch/anomaly in your particular case).
Mr.mack could you check into long-arm western series books maybe you can check and see on the copy right situation. Those are soon great western books.
Mack that is very sad and troubling to me 😢! I was wondering what was the matter because I had listened to others you had done by Louis L'amour. I have had previously years ago had contact with Louis's son, Beau and we had a good conversation about something pertaining to his father's work. I'm not promising anything. But ironically recently I went to a local bookshop and stocked on some new-to-me Louis L'amour books. I'm going to reach out to the L'amour foundation and see what I can do to help. Kindest Regards, Thomas Wilson
That would be very kind of you Thomas! I really hope that your correspondence with Beau and the Foundation is more fruitful than mine was! Once again, my team and I are extremely grateful for your support!
Btw I did some more research and looked into what the particulars were of the cut ✂️ off dates 📅 for literature becoming into the Public Domain, and two years were referenced 1978 and 1989 (after 1989 the works of an author can't become Public Domain until after 70 years elapsed after the author's demise) About 1978 I think it means everything written prior to that year. It all bears researching more thoroughly. I wouldn't take anyone's especially an Publisher's Representative word as final or gospel.
@thomaswilson7655 thank you for looking into this Thomas. I have done extensive research into this myself but since my country (and many others) have an international accord to guard copyright lifetimes, I will have to abide by the standard American protocol which is to add 50/90 years to the author's date of death.
My 4th time listening to your narration of this book; you do a great job and have a pleasant voice. I wish the LaMour heirs weren’t such …jerks? Anyway, sure wish you could read more LaMour.
That is very upsetting I wish you could have more Louis Lamour on here when I was a little girl this is how my dad taught me to read he would read a chapter and then set the book down and of course we wanted to know what was going to happen next so we had to learn to read then he would come back later and read another chapter or two and then give us back the book he would do this periodically which kept us so intrigued just thought I would share a memory miss my dad
Sorry, my American ears were unable to follow this Reader's unfamiliar accent ( foreign to me, my hearing impairment compounded with my 30yr in immediate proximity to powerful 4-eng jumbo jets, plus working many years on military fighter jets with powerful engine 'Afterburners' ( that hurt the entire human body!! 😱)
I like your story telling but mesa is pronounced may-sa not me-sa. Also don't keep trying to make a southern or western person. It just don't sound right with your natural accent lol. Otherwise you are doing great friend. Not trying to discourage ya or anything just a little helpful criticism.
Thanks for the tips! I hope you find "To Tame a Land" more to your liking - I think I corrected a lot of mispronunciations from my first book (Radigan) there.
