It's a shame they could apparently only find one female voice for this party(!) - but thankfully it was one of the best in the voice business. Julie's voice, which is heard on so many train services and the old directory enquiry "the number you require.." messages, is so warm & clear - and she has the sophisticated tones of Joanna Lumley with a calm, friendly delivery. It's really nice to see her getting that recognition!
I was born and raised on Tyneside and I can tell you that Marcus Bentley's so-called Geordie accent is totally inauthentic and obviously affected. It grates on me every time I hear it. He's probably a middle-class twit who normally speaks RP but has found this niche by capitalising on his Teeside roots(he was raised in Stockton-on-Tees, not Tyneside). You would think that since that's all he does, that he'd try to get it right.
