I'm no radio fanatic, but the fact that the VERY LAST THING AIRED ON RADIO 5 BEFORE BECOMING RADIO 5 EXTRA(minus the news and announcement) was Nigel and Earl Sort Out Radio 5, which was about the titular duo trying to save Radio 5 from closure(and failing).... ....It's just so bittersweet. Especially those final moments.
Thanks for all the Radio 5 recordings, they brought back memories. It was a station I listened to regularly back in the day. That final News and Closedown after the station had officially ended was eerie.
Same here, and to listen to a distant station that shared the same frequency, i also liked to tune in before it opens up again starting with a loud test tone.
I used to listen to Le Top and Euromix on this station, other stuff too. When it switched off I turned off from it as rolling news and sport isn't my thing.
It's the format of those early 90s logos, an abstract shape suggesting the number, with much use of negative space, and the name of the number next to it somewhere.
