I remember listening to Radio Moscow on my Sony shortwave portable and they were boasting about the subway system. I wish I had taped it. I can't find any recordings from that era about the subway.
Yeah you can tell the effects of chilling out on censorship, more topics discussed, they even talk about how interethnic relations and how they are kinda getting worse. They even mention that the Soviet government was basically restricting western culture and had strict control over culture, though with different terms (they even acknowledge that there was underground cultural movement during the Stalinist era and immediate post-stalin era that undermined the Soviet government). This makes Radio Moscow North American Service feel less like outright Soviet propaganda (except for when it talks about news) and more of inside look into the Soviet Union and Soviet life and stuff.
