Based on a few comments here - Sounds like I just need to start manufacturing a down lead that plugs straight into a Baofeng UV-5R. That's seems to be what people are wanting to do. I could charge, hmm... $300.00 easily for a $30 part. The trick is finding the connectors. But that might be easier than expected. Who's interested (joking about the $300 of course)?

You can try your luck with military surplus auctions.

@@commgearsupply4647 Good suggestion... I betcha I could advertise at a gun show or two. It's not uncommon for people to stick a piece of paper on their back as they walk around, advertising what they have or want...

I've been looking for a good waterproof radio with front panel programing. It also should work with military style connectors for PTT and headsets. Can you suggest anything please?

What frequencies do you need to work on?

@@commgearsupply4647 Nothing specific. I'd love a tri band but an UHF/VHF would work. Whatever you recommend for regular civilian sheepdog use. I'm surrounded by water in FL so it has to be waterproof.

@@Blackcloud_Garage Right now we have GMRS options that are water proof. If you want something that's UHF/VHF you can still find options online like the GT-3WP by Baofeng

Still waiting to hear back from you guys about my hardware integration. Atlantic Signal Comtacs with the ODU 7pin. Also have the Atlantic Signal Comtac V with 5C downlead and Viper II PTT. Needing cables for my radios to this PTT, 10 pin MBITR, 6pin NATO M55116, Motorola APX 7000, and glenair 804 EUD integration. Why is it so hard to get the right equipment when everything is being gatekept. You have to spend $10,000 in equipment, beg 10 companies to give you information on products that usually just blow you off, and hire your own electrical engineer to get things to work. It seriously like they don't want you having any equipment that they can't monitor you with.

Unfortunately, our inability to provide additional help is due to the propriety connectors that other companies use. This is just one example of many requests for custom adapters for proprietary connectors. It's out of our control when comes to property connectors from other companies.

Making your own interface is a soldering job and not much more. You may be able to find the connectors by themselves from digikey, mouser, or jameco (component sellers). If not, you can cannibalize/macgyver from existing hardware... I can't think of another way...

@@AtomkeySinclair The hurdle to overcome, at least from a business perspective, are the proprietary connectors. The manufacturer themselves would have to make an adapter/down lead cable that will allow you to interface with other comm units.

@@commgearsupply4647 Or you could purchase replacement cables from Gentex/OpsCore and cut the end off and solder the desired connector that is needed. Still the price of the cable though. But the connector appears in other gear that is after market. Like on Amazon. Someone is copying the plug. But is it worth paying an injection molder to do it without order 10,000 units... So yeah... point taken. Thanks for the reply.
