even from this to ok computer- the transformation is unbelievable. they went from just another rock band to the most unique musicians of our time in a matter of 3 years.
@@violethill4454 Yeah lmao the music video's silly as hell, but I think that's why I like it. It fits the cheesiness and goofiness of the song really well.
honestly one of the main reasons why i love radiohead so much is the fact that their 'worst' songs would be considered best or at least somewhat good if they were written by another band
You just like this song a lot, and i'd argue it's not even one of their worst. And on that topic, their other worst songs are absolutely boring compared to this or just in general so argument invalid
i read something that thom yorke doesnt like the fact that his voice is "pretty", and he wishes he could rock out like his idol frank black. but its interesting, here you can see him trying his best roxing scream. around 1:00 you can see him attempting it, and he knows he isnt the best at it..hence his distance from the mic...i dont know..ill shut up now..
This concert took place on the day I was born. It's nice to know something as amazing as this was taking place the day I arrived in this world, even though I obviously wasn't allowed to go... :(

@@Metalllians86 well because its more in line with the general pop songwriting structure. Or the lyrics not being that serious, which as we know radiohead doesnt make silly songs anymore. Its very upbeat and whatnot. Just listen to something like paranoid android and than come back to this and youll get it probably.
@@s-dew yeah i mean its a fun song. I just dont get why they went to an extreme measure to erase this song from peoples mind. Its easier to grasp than any of their recent release 😆. Not to bash their recent songs. People just like simplicity ie creep. But its their song, so what to do..
@@Metalllians86 yeah exactly. Tho its a shame they want to get rid of this so badly. I wonder what mustve happened for them to hate this song THIS much. Lmao 😆
I really can't bring myself to hate this song. It's just so fun and even though it doesn't really feel like 'radiohead' I still think it's a great song and definitely not the worst in their discography
@InsomniumX I had Pablo Honey when it was out and got the Bends just after it was released. I was waiting with great anticipation for The Bends, and it blew me away. But I liked Pablo Honey (I still do.) I had the same experience with OK Computer when it came out as I did with The Bends. Great times. The "My Iron Lung" EP shows a bit of transition between PH and the Bends.
this is so 90s, very brit pop... i mean, this song sounds like blur could've written it. not saying it's bad, i'm just saying now they sound so different
Memes aside, I find it interesting that the whole "current pop music sucks" discourse always existed. Like a few years after this song came out, scottish band bis released their song Action & Drama which has the lyric "pop music is not gonna die, it just has no direction" and 15 years prior to Pop Is Dead the band M released their song Pop Muzik
This song isnt bad, some bands have best songs that sound like this, plus for an early radiohead fan like me this is more interesting than lets say most things post hail to the Thief
This is probably Radiohead's worst song. But i was watching Glastonbury coverage on the BBC today, watching Two Door Cinema Club and just think "This is the dullest, most benign music ever"... This song doesn't give me that feeling, it still grabs you. What happened to all the good crap music? (Note that i think Radiohead are the best band ever, it's just this song..)
This is no where near their worst song the chorus is solid and it’s still interesting their worst songs probably a throw away from Pablo honey or some uninteresting thing from king of limbs era
Indonesian Radiohead Fans proudly presents: Tribute to Radiohead on May 23rd 2010 in The Tee Box Cafe. Jl. Wijaya II, No. 123 Kebayoran Baru Jakarta, Indonesia. It's gonna lot a fun.. :D
You can get inside my head on the japanease creep single (but its a live recording which i don't think sounds as good). acording to wikipedia pop is dead was a single not included in Pablo.
Well it's funny you say that, and it's funny that people are so sensitive about it, because from KID A on Ed is standing there doing nothing half the time. You asked an honest question. I think the purpose was to have a rhythm guitar, a lead guitar, and an extra guitar for effects.
@thurstonite In the 10 months since I made that comment, I can now say I hear that progression more than ever. I dove right in and got every album, so it took a while to really understand their growth. Incredible band, I'm still obsessed!!
Before Radiohead seemingly ended with their ground breaking melancholy finish 'A Moon Shaped Pool' which combined sweeping string orchestra with their electronic sound, front man Thom Yorke proposed that Radiohead should do a redux of 'Pop is dead' saying, 'I know that our history together is coming to a sort of end and I know that Radiohead will probably become retired and put on the shelf as a complete project, so I thought that we should embrace the irony that we've become the kind of rockstars that we talked about in the past, I just really want to take the piss one last time (laugh)'. This was ultimately scrapped and replaced with the gutpunch that is 'True Love Waits', this was made after none of the band really found the idea funny and just wanted to "get this over with and score films", Thom wrote it in 5 minutes and then made the smile because he was bored I guess idk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@TheParanoidAndroid1 Yeah, I know what you mean, Radiohead's worst is still pretty decent. Still, if I had listened to Pablo Honey at the time of its release and then The Bends a few years later I would have gone all "WTF! When did these guys become so immensely talented, how did they do it so quick!". The distance in quality between the two recordings is just incredible... the only hint of The Bends in PH is Blow Out, and maaaaaybe You!
You do know how to read right? I said, Pop is dead would be more famous if someone like muse or Coldplay wrote it...but since it was radiohead its not as famous cause this is nothing compared to anything they have wrote...way to blow it out of proportion...Its like you see coldplay/muse in the same sentence you immediately think its pro coldplay or muse.
Where does this "Pop is Dead" and "Inside my Head" come from? I don't see them on Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, HTTT or In Rainbows!
@@gonfreak4951 they don't like it because the song is not in 5/4, they dont sing it like a 15 yo girl and in particular the whole song doesn't sound like instruments being tuning
Emanuel Virgen wdym they don’t sing it like a 15 year old girl lots of there songs aren’t like that listen to just, anyone can play guitar, paranoid android, bodysnatchers etc.
Its not bad...just not like as artistic as all of their songs...this would be like a famous song if muse or coldplay did it though...cause in comparison to their previous songs this tops them :O
