I will say goku's first death sentence alone kinda shows how little that really means in the series[death having no consequences and all that] but yeah your right.
Exactly my thoughts. It would have been better if Raditz was like a Saiyan Technician that remembered a log entry of a pod being set for earth. Then, he would report back to Vegeta via scouter. Then, he would not have been seen as wasted but rather one step in the saiyan arc
He showed that family means nothing To saiyans , although nappa and vegeta may have been a bad influence on raditz..... goku had the better life Theres a hierarchy Frieza and his minions crap on the Saiyans, vegeta and nappa crap on Raditz . Unless they like being crapped on It would make sense for raditz To join goku on earth.

He had a mini "arc" it's true, but the show makes a HUGE deal out of bloodlines and potential. Gohan, Goten, even Bardock were extremely powerful super saiyans. Raditz being of that family was a wasted plot point.
@@guyver441 Gohan and Goten are a huge deal for being half-sayians. And Bardock was only made a big deal and a "powerful super saiyan" in retrospect, in a OVA. And after that in the card game that is japan only and then in xenoverse 2. Bloodline was not that big of a deal when Z and even GT were airing
They should've brought Raditz back with the dragonballs at some point. A key trait of Goku is making his enemies allies over time. Even Freeza whose basically pure evil was able to work along side Goku. The only one they might never bring back (as an ally at least) is Cell because his entire programing and purpose is to destroy Goku.
He definitely does a great job at what he was there for. I just wish that, with his unique situation, he’d be given another chance or spotlight like other villains.
Like imagine goku meets raditz in hell amd we can see raditz has trained and has even achieved super sayan 3. He would have been a great ally for universe 7
@@Sinsmoke_ He wouldn’t train with Nappa. In multiple source material and the show itself, Nappa and Vegeta viewed him as trash and would often punch down on him mentally. He is not a good guy, he’s a corrupted guy. He would probably try to train for the first several years, then would probably relax and try enjoy the peace. He would still want to fight and shit, but I don’t see him interacting with people like Nappa
i also dont think he was wasted, but he had potential to do even more. think if vegeta, a character who fulfilled their purpose in the saiyan saga, but because he was given a chance to do more, he has accomplished so much that he has greatly enhanced the story continuously for decades. i wish raditz also got that treatment
I get where he's coming from and I would agree if raditz wasn't gokus brother give the job to some random saiyan and call it a day then they wouldn't feel wasted
Raditz probaly didnt need a redemption arc like Vegeta, but he was wasted because he is Gokus brother and I think that kinda demands something to meaninfully pay of that relationship. Raditz would be perfectly fine as is if he just was one of the few random warrior who survived the destruction of Vegeta and was sent to collect one of the last members of his race, but the story we got absolutely needed more payoff. Just something to cap off their brief relationship and let them properly get to terms with each other.
Of course as a story villain his role was in the story was achieved but as a character he wasn't utilized. A good way super could redeem him is by letting Goku visit him from time to time in hell. He could be used to give the Z fighters information if any trouble starts brewing in hell, he doesn't need to be strong or be a super saiyan but the story is at a perfect point to reintroduce him since Goku is currently interested in his family. He now no longer sees all saiyans as evil and it could lead him to try to find peace with Raditz and make him a recurring character.
If u think about it....raditz and bardock deserves revival from the next DRAGONBALL summoning, I feel more of the DRAGONBALL Z series would really start baxk gettin our attention
Why would they be revived? How would that even make sense plot wise? "They are Goku's family" Goku dosnt care. That would only serve for cheap fanservise, lets keep those for dragon ball heroes and xenoverse.
It has still long been my fantasy of Goku and Raditz making peace with each other, making amends with each other, that desire became much stronger when I became aware of this fanfiction non-canon alternate Dragon Ball universe in which Raditz becomes good, he ends up having Launch as his girlfriend and later wife and the mother of his daughter named Ranch.
He fully made his mark and despite not being around for long still has a large, growing number of fans. That aside though would be nice if they brought him back either before they fought frieza (would probably bring nappa back too for the sake of more backup) or whenever else. Regardless tho if you want to see what I mean by Raditz still getting love, Masako is the epitome of that 🗿🦍
I see what you mean..but I still feel that he shouldn't have been Goku's brother given how much potential *that* aspect of his character has which wasn't tapped on..really at all.

@@quinn7427 No, Goku being "low class filth" yet rising to humiliate the prodigy prince of all Saiyans and then going on to become the Super Saiyan of legend is much better, it really detracts from all that if he was actually a secret royal hidden away in shame and it was actually his birthright to be the best.
I agree I quite like Raditz I wish they brought him back somehow if Vegeta could reform surely Raditz could aswel hell maybe even bring him in as a potential Villian quite a long shot now considering Goku's insane power but ya know wish they brought him back
It’s directly because he’s the main character’s brother that he is wasted in the role. If say Goku’s father came to earth to get him and got killed evil fathers were and are a common trope so him getting wasted and never thought about again would make sense. Evil siblings tend to get redeemed or at least a longrunning rivalry that lasts at least one major arc.
I think his most important role was to showcase the insanity of the saiyans. Not only in power but also in his words. He was bothered, almost offended at Goku's insubordination and attitude. He had the cold blood to try to kill two saiyans, one of them being a child, despite retrieving them being his original task, he could just left but no. And he wasn't a random saiyan, he was family. He was genuinely eager to meet Kakarot, but he radically changed his mind.
I would agree with you but the reason I want to see him more is because it would do something tremendous for goku..if goku ever wishes raditz back or fuck even says his name again it would be the first time goku ever thought about his family 😂 that would be major character development for him, the man has two sons and neglected the hell out of both of them so seeing him take an interest in his bloodline and his family name would be cool
I really want to see ssj3 raditz He does have really long hair already which I wonder how much long it grows Also he got the tail to have a proper ki control and provide stamina. He could use ssj3 in full power
I beg to differ, the reason he isn't used well is only because he's gokus brother, sure he "served his purpose" and did a lot to launch the series into a new era but literally any saiyan could.
If Raditz wasn't Goku's brother, I'd agree he wasn't wasted, if he was just a soldier sent to retrieve the other Sayians for the Prince, all the other stuff could of happened the same way, Goku would of refused, he would of taken Gohan, Piccolo and Goku would of still worked together finding out that Goku was of the Sayian race, still would of introduced Vegeta and Nappa. Literally him being his biological brother was wasted, he could of told Goku about their mother and father, could of explained the Sayian ideologies to him better than Vegetas warped view because he's royalty and didn't understand the lower classes because he was born with privileges. All you said could of been accomplished without having him be his brother and he could of met his real brother when the sayians arrived. Basically you could of actually changed Nappa and Raditz and the story line would of ran smoother.
Yeah but it wouldn't hurt if he made a reappearance and maybe becomes a better person or a chance to change or maybe have a inpactful role in the future of DragonBall. (I like radtiz to be bring back to see how goku and the z fighters react to him again and maybe see him and goku fight and see radtiz grow and how goku could make him stronger and his character growth)
Maybe a blood red haired version of super sayian that also gives a demonic looking appearance with reddened skin and demon teeth as well. I’d make the aura look like burning flames and retheme his attacks to his new demonic persona. The hellfire sayian form
His time to shine was in dbz .... Even some fake leaks for the dbs super hero movie showed if the new red ribbon army either got a hold of his corpse or cloned him . In naruto shippuden they killed off jairaiya in boruto they made a clone template called kashin koji, Dbz or dbs could have done that with raditz .
I never thought he was wasted at all. His death was such an accomplishment for the z fighters, and when he dies he says there are 2 more coming who are even stronger. That struck fear in me bruh
Raditz is definitely underrated as a villian and a character the way he introduced the saiyans was needed as goku at this point was the strongest being on earth he couldn't even fully fathom anything being stronger then him on earth or out of it it also gives us a idea on how strong the saiyans really is if raditz was the below the weaker bunch and he was easily manhandling goku and piccolo,the two strongest beings on the planet then how strong could the "elites" be? he also gave confirmation that goku isn't human we already had some idea when goku fought king piccolo but that just confirms what we thought,but he had more of a reason to go over to the z fighters then vegeta imo
I think he should’ve been Toras son (bardocks friend and where his iconic red headband came from). Everything still plays out as it did in the original series but he talks about their parents friendship, their warrior status, maybe how great bardock was ect. no one would really question his death or what he could’ve become like we do now.
Something you didn’t mention was the fact that Raditz was the one to show to both the audience and to the characters Gohan’s potential and rage boosts. Even if only for a short time, these put him on even footing or even outright surpassing whatever villain Gohan was forced to combat against. And later on, Gohan’s rage gave way to Super Sayian 2 and most recently his new Beast form in DBS: Super Hero.
Honestly looking back on it now we could kinda say the same thing about Whitebeard since the only time he showed up was in Marineford and did the same thing: fight and bring on a new age in reality and his world
He serves his purpose well, and having Goku’s brother show up and Goku reject the evilness of his Saiyan heritage outright is a strong character choice. But as a character and not a plot device, he is thrown away as quickly as he came in.
Honestly, I like that Goku's brother was such a weakling compared to most saiyans, it proves his strength really was the result of hard work and training, not just raw talent.
If he would have been just another random saiyan that no one cares about like Scarface, shorty, most of bardocks team, beets, ect, there wouldn’t of been anything said But he’s the brother of the protagonist, the first born of bardock. He got the same treatment as nappa when he meant arguably more than him
He was also a reason Goku got Kaioken and managed to defeat Vegeta (barely) and then went on to have Goku use Kaioken to survive longer and longer and eventually making him a Super Saiyan
See tenkaichi 2 expanded on what would happen if he was good and I really hope we get more what ifs like that in the 4th game cause stuff like this would be great for it’s what ifs
While I love vegeta I'm still just a bit bugged by the fact that out of the three saiyans, goku's brother somehow wasn't the one who ended up with the heroes. It makes it especially weird now since we've had such a focus on bardock lately with the broly movie and the manga.
If he had survived he could have been the balance between vegeta and goku. He could have been a brother to goku and a Warrior who understood vegeta's saiyan pride and would be better able to explain it to his brother plus i think he and piccolo would hit it off
Raditz actually played a big role He transmitted everything to Vegeta and Nappa which triggered the second half of the saiyan arc Vegeta and Nappa wouldn’t have come if Raditz didn’t do that and the earthlings wouldn’t have found out about namek and it’s dragon balls. And if the humans didn’t go to Namek, Vegeta wouldn’t have met Bulma If Vegeta and Bulma didn’t meet, Trunks wouldn’t have been born and the future version wouldn’t have warned the z fighters about the androids and Goku about the heart virus (maybe Gohan would comeback to the past) so everyone would die So Raditz played ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE role compared to what many people thought
@Salad Saiyan I agree raditz wasn't a wasted character, he definitely served his purpose in the franchise, even though I would have liked for him to have been around longer. But in my opinion, I think that the villains who are quote "wasted potential" were freeza's father king cold and Dabura the demon king. They had cool character designs, had high power levels, and each of them could have done so much more in the series but both were dispatched effortlessly just to hype up the actual main threats.
I also think he helped hint Gohams true power as well. During the cell saga the announcer (idk which version of the cell saga) Even mentions that it was first seen up against raditz and frieza. Short lived but he did make the impact
Honestly I think making him gokus brother was to establish that this is what he would’ve been like had he not landed on earth. He would’ve just been another saiyan grunt never passing into greater power levels
They could socialize him and have Vegeta talk some sense to him as his prince and while he gets socialized they could use that as an excuse to give him a redesign. He can also have a small power boost maybe ssj level from fighting in hell and already familiar with saiyan transormations
It's crazy that if raditz didn't come to earth. So many situations in dragonball wouldn't happen like vegeta coming to earth which mean goku wouldn't know what a super sayian is and many more. Raditz may be a short-term character but he definitely one of the most important in the series
Raditz’ role could’ve literally been replaced by one of the Kai’s saying that about Saiyans, some oracle looking in the future, one of the namekians “knowing” and sensing and then later revealing them. I wish they didn’t waste Goku’s brother like that.
Thing with Raditz is he was only in one episode, he was a pretty big deal being Goku's lost brother and all but he was only around for 30 minutes. That said though, he was so powerful compared to DB characters, it sounds rediculous but he's not that different to Beerus: he introduced a whole new scale and world development to DB like Beerus did to Z. Rewatching that first episode, Raditz wasn't just strong, he was monstrous, DB's strongest characters were nothing to him.
Goku told him to leave earth and never come back again, lets say he did do this Goku never died thus he never trained under king kai , frieza or vegeta would Just outright kill him for being weak and Incompetent/ dimwitted
