I have the 490 I like it I really wish this company would make a phase 2 digital simulcast scanner A quad band radio from one of the big 3 ham Radio companies would cost you 700 dollars or more. Now, with these new Chinese companies we can have a quad band for less than a 100 dollars. I am sure they could make a radio that does everything the Uniden SDS-200 does for under 100 Uniden charges 700 for this and we now know that these radios only cost 40 dollars to build. They are killing us with corporate greed We need to campaign for Radtel to build a scanner for us. These radios do basic analog, but we need DMR and Phase 1 and Phase 2 digital simulcast networks Some radios for 100 do DMR but we need a real scanner, that is just a receiver.

I have been told the Radtel RT-630 will also work on 11 meter CB on FM. Would be interesting to have one radio that does CB and GMRS/FRS. Might be worth checking out.

Neat radio. The price is right. When i can't see the print on things i just take a picture with my phone and zoom it in. Lol . But that would be a pain doing that with every page.

If you have a scanner copier you can blow the manual up to 8 1/2 x 11” . Your peepers would be grateful.

Maybe worth getting, then again with 5 other HT's I don't need any more for what it does.

A ham friend of mine I think has that same radio. I know its a 10 watt Radtel and it actually sounds better than his Yaesu VX6R. With that being said, He did say that his Yaesu receives better though.

I'm 54 and yes, I have trouble reading small print even with contacts or glasses or whatever. The print needs to be larger!

Offset is needed when programming a repeater.

Radtel isn't new new, they kinda been around for a while but only recently started producing a decent product. I have the Radtel RT-600 myself and have to say its a decent radio. It programs better in Chirp. I have Ft. Worth ARTCC and some DFW Airport in mine and it receives very well. You can actually force AM on 225-380 MHz. As for VHF/UHF its decent. In analog it actually sounds better than a Motorola XTS5000 believe it or not. I actually am replacing my Baofeng fleet with Radtel and Quansheng products.

Thanks for the review, Can it pick up digital Business radio on VHF. Don't want to use it to transmit. But to listen to local busses report about traffic.

What is the best CB radio made nowadays with through hole soldering on the components? Everything nowadays is a system on a chip and surface mounted. Are there any new radios the radio tinkerer can get into?

Deffo with the vision challenges.......things are just too small nowadays chap, and I think it's a cost thing.

A larger market out there for these ham radios on the cheap. Most popular is Baofeng.

Cool unit, nice mini tv display instead of pixel lcd, wish it could tx or switch to am rx on 27mhz, or dual watch while fm bc jammin', but you could spend 3x more on a basic scanner, and feel like idiot, when murs, frs, ham, gmrs, air band rx, wx, fm broadcast, with tx on all the ones you can get a license for, or ones that is not required. Just great stuff to make up for the downfalls of being in the future, with a usbc charge port on the batpack. 😊

Im curious now if it has gmrs mode. I must research it now
