My goodness! And well did she deserve this tribute. She is sorely missed. Epitome of correctness and loyalty. Always got on with the job even in the midst of dreadful family embarrassments which were no fault of hers. Rest in peace.
Having served in the RAF myself, I can't help feeling a tinge of pride, as I watch these lads doing what they do best. The Queen's Colour Squadron, the finest drill display team in the world!
They were really good however, I will have to disagree with you. They pale in comparison to the USMC Silent Drill Team.... and as a drill team they should be carrying the greatest British rifle ever made the Lee-Enfield SMLE MkIII... those SA-80s suck as a both a drill rifle and a combat rifle...
What's not to love?! Those are our protectors. God Bless the RAF and all of our Forces. I thought that they did a splendid and flawless display. Only wish that I'd been there.
As a very proud mum of one of them, I have watched them many times and (being totally unbiased !) they are faultless every time. Well done lads, our active military and veterans are not appreciated or respected enough in this country. A sad reflection of our current society and times…….
Thank you to the lady that filmed this so that the people who couldn't stand and watch and the people that couldn't be there could see it. Well done to the flash mob.
A spectacular display! The precision and timing was magnificent to watch! A wonderful presentation by the RAF to celebrate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II birthday! Well Done RAF!!
This is a wonderful way to acknowledge the Queen's birthday and those that were there were treated with this fine display. Love how Great Britain shows the world class and dignity. Love all the uniforms etc. Carry on.
Even though this was 5 years ago, it is very impressive. It makes you proud to stand for freedom. What an honor for them to celebrate Her Majesty's birthday by doing this show for the people. Hoo hah!
As a Canadian accidentally :) born in the US to Canadian Parents in 1953 this brought both a "Stiff Upper Lip" and tears. Dad, United Empire Loyalist Heritage, Mom, Irish American German Heritage. Respect
Brought a little tear to my eye. brought back my marching out parade at RAF Swinderby in 1969 and being very tall I was right guard so my platoon and the two behind me, were all dependent on me keeping a straight line, but someone had parked a van, so I could not see the corner of the hanger my drill instructor had told me to line up with a white pole and a flag for that very purpose. By the time we got to where he halted us, I had swung the whole squadron about 3 metres to the right. I will never forget his swearing and cursing me under his breath as we stood to attention. Thankfully, after boot camp, I can't really recall the 5 years I stayed in, ever having to march like that again. Good thing I did not join the 'Rock Apes' i.e. these RAF Regiment guys were very good, especially it was not on a flat and wide parade ground but in a confined space, with the public having to be controlled and it was quite noisy. Like me using the corner of a hanger to march straight, their timing provided by the music as one unit has to be absolutely perfect. If just one of them makes a mistake (as I did) it can put the rest of the sequence out of order, so they would have practised that routine many times over and not where they actually did it. I was crap at marching but seeing those young men being that good, made me feel very proud to have served in the RAF which greatly changed me for the better and that we still have young people who felt as I did, wanted to defend our country. Back in my days the adverts' said "Join for the sport, comradeship and adventure" but my recruiting officer did not make it very clear, it was a job you may have to put your life on the line for. As an Aerial Photographic Operator was tasked one day to be sitting with my legs hanging out of a Success helicopter, with a great big camera strapped to my chest, which had been used in WW2. I had to press a button to film us passing by bushes on a cliff face in Cyprus that might be hiding Turkish Cypriot arms caches. To my absolute horror, found a machine gun firing at the helicopter I was in, I literally shat my self and was so grateful the pilot pulled off and we went back to Akrotiri airport. My point all those young men now, do not have the soft job I mainly had, which was processing and printing aerial photos back in England. They will be guarding RAF personnel, equipment and planes that often can now be in obscure parts of the world where they will be facing non-regular military personnel i.e. terrorists. That very high level of marching display showed so well they can work together in a very efficient way. All my respect and admiration.
@wakeup3860 I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for your country. And to let you know I would have been terrified to have done your job. 😲😳🥺 I'm ok with being in a plane (not a helicopter), but I cannot imagine hanging out the side of one taking pictures!! 🎞🎥📷🛩🚁 And also wanted to let you know that I am from Florida in the United States. I have a Huge Respect for the military, especially those who are fighting for their country, their lives and their families. My grandfather, father and older brother all served in the army. Thank you again for your service. My apologies for such a long response and sending you many blessings
As a former airmen of Her Majesties Royal Air Force, this makes me so proud to watch. Always enjoyed the hearing the slap of the rifle during arms drill. Well done lads "PER ARDUA AD ASTRA" and God save our glorious queen
I may not be from your country, as I am an American, but thank you for your service. Sometimes I find y'all a bit weird, to be honest, but y'all are still awesome
Salute from your cousins across the Pond!! I have had the privilege and honor to train, work and fight alongside many of our mutual allies, including Her Majesty's Armed Forces, and I love the way you still have that "Old School" flair and polish when marching!! Love that very English sense of humor too!!! #RESPECT!!!
My Dad was in the RAF. Check out this video about their secret mission to nuke America TWICE!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Wx6npt421c.html
Well Done! Thank you for posting the video! My Father served in the RAF and immigrated to the US in the mid fifties. I hope that our "special relationship" can endure with the UK!
Really well performed. Notice there was no one directing them. I was in the WRAF stationed at Jurby and the RAF came to do the "beating of the retreat" 1963/64 the RAF were perfect in those days. I shed a few tears to see this type of marching again, with lots more moves. Cheers RAF.
Having been in the military myself I can appreciate the hours of practicing it would have taken to be able to make it look so seamless. Well done to these airmen, a very cool tribute
What a wonderful piece. We are British. Not EU. I do not want our people under EU command. Thank god we are leaving. A wonderful display. I wonder how many UK citizens and tourists that day had a smile on their faces after seeing that?! 👍🇬🇧
The precision is mind-blowing. You could just make out the 90. A wonderful and beautiful tribute to the Queen. And now that it's April and her 95th. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.
LOVED the flash mob celebration for Her Majesty The pomp and ceremony can only be done by the British, and boy did they do an absolute terrific rendition Loved the whole routine 💓🌻
The British are without a doubt the "Best" when it comes to the ceremony. Their class, decorum, discipline is top notch. After all, they have been doing this for a thousand years or more. Absolutely magnificent. Her Majesty must be proud as punch, (as this was for her 90th Birthday.)
The British are the best at quite a lot of things, and the RAF are the oldest and the best air force in the world. I doubt if the Queen saw this particular performance.
I expect it instils discipline, working together as a well oiled machine, concentration and focus. All necessary in battle situations. This is not done purely for show, but for physical skill and concentration. Teamwork which is needed in con flict situations. Well done guys. You are superb. My dad had 2 brothers killed in WW1. He never knew them as he was born in 1913. My mum had 2 brothers in WW2. One a gunner on Russion convoys. Torpedoed and woke in a Russian hospital and said they were treated as heroes. The other was badly injured at ElAlamein. Both survived but long gone now.
Although this was several years ago it was nice to watch it again. We are the best in any ceremonial circumstance and the RAF never fail to provide. A great display of drill and arms control and it was wonderful to hear the crowd cheer and applause for a very commendable and warm celebration for our glorious Queen.
Well said & seconded! Yes i'm a goth & love my "alternative " music & dress. But when it comes to pomp & circumstance, my beloved country does it best. I've been to the Edinburgh Festival 3 times to watch the Tattoo. The most amazing spectacle. Made me feel humbled & very proud to see our men & women of the British Forces, the Pipes & Drums, the history & the lone piper, put a lump in my throat the size of a beach ball. So yes. God bless England & our Queen. 👑❤
Thankyou for posting this my Dad and Grandad and an Uncle were in the RAF Grandad was in the Battle of Britain WW11 my Dad and Uncle in Signals during the height of the Cold War - so proud of them and even prouder to be a RAF Brat. Thank you so much for posting will share with my Dad he's 85 now and will be absolutely chuffed to see this. ❤🇬🇧
Why have I only just seen this four years later? How did I miss it??? Wonderful stuff!! *patriotic tears* - they had better start practising, and do something for Her Maj’s platinum celebration next year!! Good willing and all that! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴
Excellent show! No screaming and shouting like other armed bodies of men to "motivate" themselves. Just a disciplined squad doing what they were trained to do with no fuss. What more do we need? I would trust them. Soon enough we will all need to. Well done.
AMAZING, our armed forces are fantastic and aren't appreciated nearly as much as they should be. HUGE HUGE thank you to all the British armed forces you are all amazing people. Was great seeing such a fantastic flashmob dedicated to our Queens 90th birthday by such amazing people
Very crisp precise marching, must have been hours and hours of drill to have perfected that. I wouldn't mind betting every young man there wanted to be one of them and every old man wished he had those young days back again.
I was in the crowd at the time and I thought it was absolutely fantastic! I'm very grateful to whoever posted this as a record of the event. The first (and final) march was "Eagle Squadron". Then followed by the "RAF" and "Luftwaffe" marches from the film "Battle of Britain.
@@farodealer'Sorry, Katherine. 'Fraid not! David Bradley was - more or less - right. (He's not the actor, is he?) The second one was the 'official' Battle of Britain March from the film of the same name. (I've got the soundtrack......)
This is the drill team of the Royal Air Force. The Q.C.S.The Queens Colour Squadron. They selected members of the R.A.F .regiment. They were formed during ww2 and their primary role as it is today is defend air force installations and home and abroad but they play a very offensive as well as a defensive role.
I grew up with a dad in the (US) Navy and we took my whole 3rd grade class to a military performance, not unlike this. It was way more intense and exciting, but it was also a huge performance by at least a thousand people. This just reminded me of that fond childhood memory.
My dad, my uncles, and my cousin all served in the RAF........he always said their drill was second to none....... I miss them all, this makes me so proud of their service
Me too, I used to love watching The Royal Tournament each year, but they dont do it any more. Plus we wont be having Trooping the Colour AGAIN!! this year. Dont know about you, but brings a lump to my throat.
When I was doing my trade training (Supp-A) at RAF Hereford in summer 1973, we had quite a lot of parades & high-ranking visitors. The music we marched to was provided by the RAF Apprentices band. They could play 2 tunes. The RAF march and I'll Haily & The Comets' Rock Around the Clock. Yes, that song IS a march! 😂😂
These guys stopped my base being mortered in Afghanistan. This is a serious fighting unit. As you can imagine, when someone saves your arse you build a lot of respect. Oh yeh, and they are good at drill.
I am God Smacked! Such an unexpected tribute to The Queen. I am an American. We have our Ponce & Circumstance, bit flooded my heart with such pride in knowing where my roots are from!! God Bless America!!!! God Save the Queen!!
I have a military background & when bayonets were attached, that meant no prisoners would be taken. I blustered with pride!! My pride in being a part of the separated United Kingdom of the world, I felt such humility. I remembered how much the Kingdom is prolific in the peace of our planet. Kill them all!! Kill all enemy's of the Kingdom!!! If ur an Enemy unto the Crown, you are an enemy of the USA
I couldn't believe the amount of people who ignored it completely. I would gladly be late for whatever I was going to if I stumbled across something like this.
I didnt see there Fred,is he really dead? I didn't hear Fred, this Queen music is sad.Maybe I dont know what really rock'n'roll mean,is it realy tribute of Queen?I rather watch the show of mr Been ,fuck birthday of queen.I am poor human being ,nobody is up above ,no one is king or queen.I enjoy the wine & bread, give us real Oueen, where is my friend Fred?
Christoere I agree with you, brotherly love, so important. I LOVED working with the American Navy, so warm and friendly. We all got on so well together, I will NEVER forget that sunny afternoon, when we all became ONE!
The first march, "Eagle Squadron," salutes the American airmen who deployed to Britain in WWII. Listen carefully, and you can hear strains of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Kenneth Alford composed some of the finest marches we have.
