About this video
We’re delighted to have been granted licence by Sony Music Entertainment to use a classic
AC/DC track on the back of hot action from RAF Lakenheath, the home of the 48th Fighter Liberty Wing.
As well as Hot-Pit exercises with 493rd Squadron, we caught F15E’s of 492nd and 494th Fighter Squadrons on exercises from the USAF base in Suffolk.
This was filmed to a live audience from a public viewing area at RAF Lakenheath. If you visit, please respect the locals and take your litter home.
Big thanks to our Legal Guru for arranging the licence and for the boys from AC/DC for being cool about it, hope they get to see it. Hope all the boys and girls (Pilots and Ground Crews) from Lakenheath enjoy this one, it also goes out to Station Commander Jason Camilletti

Can't beat standing behind the Lancer on full reheat, just don't get too close. We asked a load of tourists to move back behind the corden, they didn't listen and were all repositioned nicely by the jet wash

@@billirvin9057 God Bless you brother! I come from a long line of military members so I never enlisted. My sister & her husband were Air Force. I could watch any series of F jets all day long! The fact that these pilots can take off at the angle they do here is amazing!

I remember taking my father to Lakenheath for the first time and the shock on his face when the F15s reheat kicked in and the car was shaking. For those people who have never experienced it, well its loud real bloody loud, and the new F35s are even louder

We used to have f16s in norway. Now we have the f35. I was sitting inside an heard a new kind of loud. It was an f35. Talk about thunderstruck

Love it. All Baby Boomers love it. Of course we love it: We are the last well-educated, moral generation in America. It was for us that our fathers in World War II, and every generation in the cockpit thereafter, learned to rock and roll.

I am the progeny of Baby Boomer parents. My grandparents did not serve due to health & other issues but my maternal grandfather worked for Boeing building war planes, he had two brothers stationed at Pearl Harbor, one being killed, the other wounded but went on to be part of Doolittle's Raid & served in Korea. My maternal grandmother had two brothers who served in WWII also. My mother raised us with good morals & taught us the importance of being a good worker. & raised us to be patriotic. My father was a deadbeat who, after their much needed divorce, didn't pay child support nor did he remain in our lives. He happened to be dishonorably discharged from the Marines as well. Being born in a certain generation may have resulted in certain admirable attributes but the decade we were born in itsrlf doesn't guarantee good morals. Family involvement, a good education starting in grade school & the people surrounding us play a big role. I spent my early years being educated in Iowa & Minnesota & at that time the school systems were amongst the higher rated institutions of our country. Our neighbors were quIet, hardworking people who helped each other when needed. I believe this accounts for some of my behavioral traits.

In the late 70's when I was there, our F-111F's would take off in full AB, and the farmer at the end of the runway would complain that his cows would not give milk because of the loud noise.

I was at the heath 77 thru 80. Sitting at the radar site when the Roman candle f 111 made the big noise. Registered at 120 dB with no ear protection.

My youngest son was stationed there, he works on f 15s, the most bad ass fighter jet, developed in the 60s from the f 4 I believe!

i remember visiting Lakenheath back in the 60s and the USAF treated us to a mass launch of F-100 Super Sabres - they took off three at a time. That's probably why my hearing's not so good now. 😁😁😁😁😁

I was there from 82 through 85 and we had F-111s. Got to see the original broadcast of a couple of TV shows, Max Headroom, and a thing caller The Black Adder. The plane that we flew home on was the same one that three years later to the day blew up over Locherbie Scotland on Dec 21st, 1988. I haven't been able to donate blood or organs since because Mad Cow was ongoing at the time and they still fear it like voodoo.

I am a US Navy Veteran. Try taking off on a US Navy Aircraft Carrier during rough seas. That is a test of a great pilot. I have seen this done. Then they have to return. WOW.

I was station at RAF Mildenhall, 1988-91, which is practically down the street from Lakenheath. by car about 5 minutes. When taken off from Mildenhall you can see Lakenheath. you could hear them take-off. Like they say, the sound of peace. I miss those sound of any military aircraft taking off. it such a great sound to hear. Been retired from the Air Force 23 years..

A bunch of aircraft taking off. Whoopee! F-15Es (or other) are phenomenal but, ... no engagements?! Let's just say that we (U.S.) haven't any proof of any F-15s in engagement. But the Israelis have. Lost a wing and still the F-15 kept flying. Excellent work by the pilot. Outstanding design and manufacturer of the F-15 Eagle?

I hear this every day. I live near one of the Air force training areas. These are loud as they fly over my apartment. Along with many a lot of their other stuff. I can tell when the world is heating up by the changes in frequency of flights followed by unusual slowing of the noise for a week or so.

I remember F-15s in CA doing 'Good Neighbor' scrambles -- no A/B until 1000 ft AGL. Quieter, but when the A/B lit and the nose came down ... impressive!

Can’t believe 314 is still flying at the 494th, that was one of if not the first we got from the factory in 93. The wonder lemons just left. My jets were 327, 321, and 605…blows me away those old gals are still flying.

Normally I'm not a fan of putting music above the sweet sound of afterburning turbofans, but this is great! Thanks. Sometimes I think the most surprising thing about the F-15 is that although it goes to Mach 2.5 with afterburners, it doesn't supercruise at all.
