The great Mexican/American trumpeter, composer, arranger, teacher and bandleader Rafael Mendez (1906-1981) plays his own composition, 'Tre-Mendez Polka', along with his twin sons Ralph and Robert, on a special for TV entitled 'The Trumpet' (1955) - 5th and last part.

Fantastico! There has never been, nor do I believe will ever be, anyone better than the great Mendez. Thanks for sharing this flim clip of Rafael. THere are very few videos of this greatest of trumpeters.

Rafael Méndez en una entrevista en Estados Unidos dijo que de muy joven fue villista, convivió alrededor de un año con Francisco Villa con quien desarrollo una buena amistad. Ademas de ser su músico, fue el primer corneta en muchas batallas

The boys thought they could do better studing under someone else. They finally came back to Pop and he had to spend a lot of time correcting bad habits they had picked up. Sure wish I had the chance to study under him.

I don't know where they are today, but they became two of the most highly respected urologists in Los Angeles. In fact, I believe it was Robert who had worked on Robert Kennedy on the night he was assassinated.

+RokerLauncher96 Mi socio estas mas perdido en el llano que una hormiga! heeh este senor technicamente en la historia de la trompeta no tiene rival! Ahora en sonido y grabaciones si hay discrepancias porque esto fue grabado hace muchos anos cuando solo er vinyl!
