Sunaada Art Foundation presents "Raga Bhairav - One Khayal : Many Voices", a group rendition of Khayal in Raga Bhairav.
The primordial Raga Bhairav is fundamental to Hindustani Classical Music in a myriad ways : as a scale, melody, Raga and Raga-anga. Peculiarly for students of music, Bhairav is apparently easy for the beginner, but gets significantly complex as the learning advances. It is common knowledge that many great musicians begin/began their day with Raga Bhairav throughout their lifetime.
With an intention of presenting Khayal in Raga Bhairav in a concise format, the duo of Omkarnath Havaldar and Shreedhar Mechri have brought together a group of talented musicians and multimedia professionals in creating this audio-visual showcase.
While the vilambit Jhaptaal bandish is a traditional composition, the drut Ektaal tarana is composed by Pandit Yashwant Mahale.
The music for this production is composed and arranged by Omkarnath Havaldar, who has also mentored the featured vocalists.

Biographies :
Divya Shenoy was initiated to Hindustani Classical music by Smt Geetha Hegde, and continues her learning under Pandit Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar and Shri. Omkarnath Havaldar. Divya has a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, North Carolina and has worked as a Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist at New York Presbyterian Hospital. However, her passion for music has drawn her back to Bangalore where she is pursuing advanced training in classical music. She also teaches beginner and intermediate level students.
Dyuthi Jahagirdar was initiated to Hindustani Classical music by Pandit PR Manjunath and Smt. Bharathi Pratap, and currently learns from Shri. Omkarnath Havaldar. She is a student of Engineering at BNM Institute of Technology, Bangalore.
Jerine Anna John has been learning Hindustani classical music from Pandit Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar and Shri. Omkarnath Havaldar for the past one year. She completed her Fellowship in Pediatric Optometry from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, and is currently a Consultant Optometrist at HORUS Specialty Eye Care, Bangalore. She has relocated to Bangalore mainly to pursue Hindustani classical music.
Mazha Mohammed started learning Carnatic music at an early age from Smt.Sajitha Narayanan. She was Later introduced into Hindustani music by Shri. Nalin Moolji, a harmonium player and a disciple of Pt.Tulasidas Borkar and Pt.Sudhir Naik . Considering her passion for vocal music, Shri. Nalin Moolji directed her to Pandit Dr. Nagraja Rao Havaldar and Omkarnath Havaldar for advanced intense training. Mazha is a undergraduate student English Literature at St.Joseph's College Devagiri, Calicut.
Meghana has been learning Hindustani classical music from Shri. Omkarnath Havaldar for the past one year. She is an undergraduate student of Science at Vijaya College, Bangalore.
Snigdha Jahagirdar was initiated to Hindustani Classical music by Pandit PR Manjunath and Smt. Bharathi Pratap, and currently learns from Shri. Omkarnath Havaldar. She is student of Science at Sri Kumarans Pre-university College, Bangalore.
Omkarnath Havaldar is one of the leading vocalists of Hindustani Classical Music in India. He began learning vocal music at an early age from his father Pandit Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar. He has further trained under Pandit Madhava Gudi and Pandit Panchakshari Swami Mattigatti, and continues to learn under Pandit Indudhar Nirody. Omkarnath has performed on many prestigious platforms and has several accolades to his credit.
Kedarnath Havaldar initially learnt vocal music from his father Pandit Dr.Nagaraj Rao Havaldar. However, he later pursued music on the Tabla, learning under Pandit Rajgopal Kallurkar and Pandit M. Nagesh. He continues his training under Pandit Samir Chatterjee. Kedar has accompanied several musicians of repute on the tabla and has innumerable performances and recordings to his credit. He also teaches percussion music at the Azim Premji Foundation.
Sameer Havaldar has trained on the Harmonium under Pandit Prabhudeva Salimath of Talikoti, and continues to learn from Pandit Panchaksharaiah Hiremath. An excellent vocalist too, he learns vocal music under his uncle Pandit Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar.
Shreedhar Mechri is a photographer and a devotee of music. Leaving behind a corporate career in information technology and finance, he now pursues his interests in visual media and Indian classical music. A vocalist and flautist himself, he has learnt Indian Classical Music from Smt. Jayashree Kadlabalu of Bellary, Ustad Sheikh Hannumiya of Bhalki, Pandit Madhava Gudi, and Pandit Vishwaprakash. He continues to learn vocal music from Pandit Dr. Nagaraj Rao Havaldar.
