Pandit Pritam Bhattacharjee is entering a league entirely his own, and following a path that reminds one of the unspeakable genius of Ustad Amir Khan and his Guru Pandit Jasraj-ji. This level of thoughtful and soulful gayaki cannot be summarized in any one way: it’s not just the glistening sur, the breakneck speed and granularity of the taankari, the pulsating pathos of the Raga development, the joyously layadaar Drut, or any one thing. It’s all of those things and something way, way bigger: the brilliant deployment of all of those elements in truly wise proportions, in a way that makes every single cycle of the Vilambit Ektaal bandish unforgettable. I’m out of words. But this level of gayaki is so unbelievably rare, we’re so lucky to be hearing it. I get chills. Jai Ho!
Shri Pritam ji ,. Nice rendering , are you disciple of our Bapuji (. Pandit Jasraj ji ). ? Or learned from his disciple ? or just following him by listening. ?
I'm big fan of Pritam ji. He is an excellent singer but biggest drawback in most of his recordings are he is not facing the microphones properly. Whenever he is facing mic he is audible but 60-70% of time he is looking away from mic or at accompanist.
