She just has a finesse on beam that not many have. I'd love to see her future work. I hope she stays in tip top shape for Tokyo 2020 as it doesn't seem likely that she'll make it to Rio.

Yeah! she's only 15 so she has plenty of time for Tokyo and world championships.

I mean, she makes a standing full on beam look easy. It's insane to me that even this quality of gymnastics doesn't even get you a spot on Olympic team (I know she is alternate). All of these American gymnasts are just mind-blowing!

The reality for her was consistency- which she had periodically but not all the time. Laurie had proven herself extremely consistent, and had a stellar and consistent floor routine as well. Ragan was awesome, but the team chosen was definitely the correct one. I just wish she hadn’t had the bad ankle injury in 2017 as it really seemed to end her elite career. She might have had a shot in 2021 if not for that, as her gymnastics in 2017 was much better.

cool leo, Ragan. Looks like she only competed bars and beam this meet but tied for 6th (bars) and was 5th on beam. 21st overall, placing immediately behind Simone Biles and Gaby Douglas in the AA. She's so strong and clean in her gymnastics. Kim Zemeskal and her husband coach Ragan. haha: AWESOME arabian double front dismount! i love it. so good.

she's twisting just a little too late going into the Patterson but this routine was solid!! I absolutely want to see her on the team!! she just doesn't rattle and that's a huge asset in Martha's eyes :)

they didn't give her either of her mixed connection bonuses and for some reason they either didn't give her the series bonus on her dismount or they didn't give her the connection for the bhs+lo which they really should have

I think this was her best beam routine ever... she hit EVERYTHING!! If only her dismount was a little cleaner (which it definitely is it was just off)

Wtf? Why is the D score so low? They couldn't devalue her layout because it's literally goals. And I can see them not counting the front tuck to sissone. But they should've credited her front aerial to pike jump.

ikr? I thought she was underscored too! I mean her dismount wasn't the best, but at the Pacific rim, she scored over 15 and this was pretty close to her Pacific rim routine...

I would love to see her in Rio! I think she has a chance to make the team because auf her outstanding beam. And also the important point is that shes hiting it everytime she does.

I think that's the first layout on balance payment but I've seen in a long time from team USA that will not get downgraded

At this point, I don't see her going ahead of Maggie or Laurie. It could still happen but with Maggie apparently having a lot of her skills back and Laurie upgrading to 6.4 on bars and 6.6 on beam it's going to be really tough for her to get in. Simone has been a lock all along, Gabby will become a lock if she gets her Amanar; if she doesn't she still has a chance but she probably will do the amanar anyway, and Aly is in a similar spot as Gabby, practically guaranteed but not full on. The fourth spot is the bar specialist spot which will see the continuation of the Kocian vs. Locklear battle and the fifth spot is going to be a nerve wracking yet exciting brawl between Maggie, Laurie and Ragen. I would expect Laurie and Ragen to have a better shot than Nichols, but it really depends on how well Maggie has recovered. Martha doesn't seem concerned and said she looks good, so I guess we'll have to rely on Marta's word until we see for ourselves at P&Gs. Personally, I'd rather see Laurie make it but I'm not trying to get my hopes too high because whenever I do, the opposite of what I want to see happen happens.

my biased self is Maggie but Laurie is gunning for that spot she has a better shot. Her jumping out of the 6.1 bars spot to 6.4 was smart. Her beam and bars is TF.

Well without the knee touch Ragan would've scored 15.650 so... I think she's still in it 😂 and her floor is great along with improvements on bars. Especially not knowing the conditions of Laurie and Maggie's injury, I'd have Ragan on the team of the Olympics were where nationals are now.

Yes, Ragan is one of the top beam workers, but that's it. She doesn't score in the top 3 on any other event. I LOVE her but at this point, if she made team, it would be as a beam specialist, which I highly doubt would happen. We already have Simone, Aly and probably Laurie on the team, all scoring high on beam consistently.

Too bad about the error on the Patterson, but exciting to see it finally! It was about as near perfection as she can get before that.

I think if you look closely her left knee just touched the ground. But I'm not sure; it's very close and it's hard to tell.

I saw a picture taken from the other side of the beam. She barely had both feet on the beam and her feet were crooked when she pushed off. She was lucky to get the Patterson around as well as she did.

I would guess no, and I would bet .30 was deducted versus .50

.2 bonus for two back handsprings into the dismount, 1.0 added for good amplitude and body position in saltos, .3-.5 deduction for fall on landing. it's been .5 forever for a fall, today I found .3, I'd double check that point deduction you're citing. Not to mention I didn't see her hands or knees touch, so I didn't call it a fall even.

easytoslip I don't think it was counted as a fall either. As for the 1 point deduction, I just checked on the USAG website and it says that the deductions for various errors range from 0.1 point for a small error to 1.00 point for a fall. I know that within the JO system a fall is a 5 tenth deduction. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're trying to say but no harm done right

+Zyxcba Same! And yep, but this one wasn't as bad as Bailie's day 1 Nationals 2015 Leo... The PT Leo's Bailie and Ragan wore.. Oh god. Last years junior day 2 Leos were actually tolerable.
