He said something in part one about being able to tell in just a few beats if something was going to be special. Two beats into this song and his face says it all. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1e0iPX8eNCs.html
Every Rage Against the Machine album I ever bought had a sticker on it saying, "this album was recorded with guitar, drums, bass and vocals only." No turntables here bro, just Tom Morello...
My favorite part of reactions to Bulls on Parade is everyone coming to the slow realization that Tom Morello's playing the guitar when they think it's a turntable 🤣
@@RAMONAxLA Plus they're like.. millionaire Communists who love Che Guevara - Che, who HATED black people and rock music. Lol RATM are retarded politically. But they're still one of the sickest bands of the 90s.
@@RAMONAxLA damn shame , here in Australia we hear Coachella is one of the bigger better one for anyone to perform at , good info Rich I'd take your word over the media's ..we got some great festivals over here,I'm probly to old to go to a festival these days ,but I'd like to see them over here.
Saw him at New Orleans Jazzfest a few years ago with Bruce Springsteen and he did THE BEST SOLO I"VE EVER SEEN....and I've seen a TON of bands including Van Halen with Eddie. It was that good. Look it up on RU-vid....it's Jazzfest Ghost Of Tom Joad. Awesome.
@@SortenRavn Naw man, Slipknot are cornball metal. Rage are THE ONLY good example of rap/rock working. Everything else is Limp Bizkit cheese, dont even get me started on linkin park boy-band garbage.
I would say at present there are artists like Ho99o9 who are doing justice by this aesthetic. A good example would be their song "Street Power" which switches between being a Rap song and like a Crossover Thrash song.
Dude, your reaction to Morello scratching a guitar instead of a record is priceless. I love Rage and I am still looking for the turn table in this song. Amazing
I'm 59 years old now, and saw my first ratm show in Washington DC when I got back from west Germany in 1990. Good to know that the message of this music is still being heard ✌❤🦋🎶
Yes Tom Morello (the guitarist) figured out how to scratch with his guitar. Jamel I'm sitting here yelling at my screen "I TOLD YOU! I TOLD YOU!" I'm loving every minute of this.
Lemme tell you...They used to play this in a bar in Times Square back in 2002...EVERYONE didn't matter what you looked like...jumped in and started moving to this song. It's one of those greats...It ties us all together because we all get what this guy is singing about.
Drago Kan: You loved seeing Jamel's first reaction; wait until he finds out that his reaction the 1000th time he hears Morello scratchin' will be EXACTLY THE SAME.
Fun Fact: RATM's original album had inside it a text certifying that: "All sounds made by guitar, bass, drums and vocals" . . just to make sure we all know how badass they were
Tom gets that sound because the switch he toggles with his right hand switches between the two pickups, making the alternating sounds from running the fingers of his left hand on the strings.
Can we take a minute to appreciate Tom Morello who brings so much to this band? The whole band is amazing, but even back then a black man with a phd from Harvard playing in a rock band talking about police brutality and government corruption was revolutionary.
my older brother has a Masters and a PHD.. still give him advice on how to teach his class.. Me with a H.S education.. go figure.. Paper is paper brother that is all
@@Linogewillkillallofy if antifa are terrorists i guess im a terrorist. JK because your a fucking idiot and dont understand what the fuck antifa even means or stands for
hes young, he missed their heyday. its quite common, you grow up with whatever your parents or older siblings are into. outside of that, its whatever else you are exposed to elsewhere, which will typically be current releases. im 37, I have a 17 year old sister. shes now exploring some of my music library, out of curiosity. if I wasn't around to expose her to it, she would have no reason to look it up, and realistically would not stumble across it naturally. shes starting to turn into a little bit of a metalhead.
I like how he said, “shit or get off the pot” using the word commode. Rage Against the Machine means fight the power or fight the institutions of oppression. The lead singer’s dad was a well known protestor. Their songs have deep meaning to the lyrics.
EVERYTIME I hear this song it takes me back to the 1st time I seen them live, and when there's the break down in the middle then it REALLY KICKS IN, I swear 15,000 people started pitting ALL AT ONCE on the lawn, while making there way towards the stage!!! IT was SCARY, FUN, INTENSE, NERVE RACKING, ALL AT ONCE!!! BUT, mostly memorable!!! Just a great moment in my concert life!!!
I am so glad you are hearing this. I first heard rage in the 90s and fell in love. was destroyed when they broke up. No matter how many times I hear this song, I get goosebumps. We need Rage. Glad they are coming back.
That look when tom morello did his solo. Its great to see music i first heard from my cousin because its the same genuine feeling and reaction i had and its a great memory to be able to have.
they are such a great band with great content. I am saddened that their recent tours were canceled. But bless em for doing what they do and the content we have.
I just wish they did a real show, and not at Coachella. That’s for a bunch of pretentious, entitled kids. I hope they do shows out of Coachella in Cali. I’ll definitely be going.
Majestic DC he took it to the highest level playing with the late great CHRIS CORNEL, CHOCHISE? show me how to live? Like a Stone? Totally mesmerizing.. Morello is a guitar God. And I’m 74 years old and love this!
Watching this gives me the same feeling I had when I 1st listened to it. the wave, the rush of Goosebumps flowing over me right now.... thanks for taking me back.
“I’m not gonna let him slide with that “ and then rewinding the guitar solo 🎸 was freaking hilarious . That deep breath you took after the second time you heard the solo lol I remember listening to this when it came out and it changed all of us who understood the lyrics. It really opened a lot of eyes.
«Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes Not need, just feed the war cannibal animal I walk tha corner to tha rubble that used to be a library Line up to tha mind cemetery now» What a line man... What a line!!!!
I heard of RATM in the later years of the 90s and was blown away, I also lived in rural kentucky. This band opened my musical mind up, I love them for that.
When you said "I'm over here lookin' for a damn turntable!" ...I was drinking a Pepsi and I laughed so hard it all went out my nose. That was halrious. I do enjoy your videos, keep um comin'.
Tom Morello is one hell of a guitarist, distinct sound you recognize among a million other guitar players, could say, he's a bit of a Brian May in ways. Brian ofc has the most recognizable sound of all guitarist, but Tom follows closely. Dang it Jamel, you opened up a can of worms for me with RATM... lol i was somewhat addicted to that band and i feel that that addiction hasnt fully left my body hehehe. I guess i'll be blasting RATM at volume level 11 for the next few weeks again... poor neighbors! The memories come flooding back in, and i thank you for that :D
RATM ❤ My olds used to think I was such an angry teenager listening to this kind of music.. it just resonated with me and it is still on my playlist nearly 30 years later ✊🏾
They knew what they were doing when they named the band RAGE... Zach clearly has rage and directs at his lyrics- biting, hard, and on point, delivered with his unique style that blends rap and heavy metal. They just kill, man.
Morello's unique approach to guitar playing combined with Zach 's lyrics combined to form one of the most important bands to come out of the early 90s, the last era/breath of greatness from American rock music. The bands that sprouted out from 88-93/94 really took things into new exciting directions and I'm glad I was just old enough to get to experience most of it live at various shows as the whole thing was happening/evolving. Back then it seemed like people were just more willing to embrace and get excited for various genres of music. Nobody wanted to be identified as being one dimensional and you would go to cyphers in the park one night and then go to a club and jump into a pit the next. That got lost somewhere along the way and music in general was worse off for it. We're currently in the midst of a revival of the spirit of that era and it's making this an exciting time to be involved with music again, this time for me on a professional level after years of just sort of going through the motions like a regular job.
I can't say how many times I've watched your reaction to this. It's so cool to see you become aware of and thoroughly enjoy this band. It happened to me in the 90's and RATM still is one of my elite bands. Love 'em.
easily my favorite reaction i've ever seen. the looks on your face of pure joy / surprise.... the one liners like "the amount of funk in that mans foot!" "DOPE...dope dope..." enjoyable to watch and listen to. many times over.
@@andyd6338 nope, ratm is a leftist band and what they mean by that is the us hiding the history of their atrocities in many other topics in history and like to focus the enemy on anyone that opposes the us
Jamel, my man it's so much fun watching you discover music that was integral to my formative years -- rage, muse, tool, rush, etc. and have the same reaction I did as a kid. These bands are who made me love music, and now I'm discovering a lot of artists that other people (maybe you, maybe not?) grew up with, and finding so many messages that are the same, presented from a different cultural/musical style and it makes my heart so full. Music brings us together brother. Keep on rockin.
I love your channel and videos because you have the same level of reactions with the same emotion or sense of shock from the talent of the musicians at the same time I do in songs I am familiar with. So cool!
I am so glad I discovered you Jamel!!! You’re making my day! 😊 RATM is one of the many bands on my gym playlist! Cardio for days with this type of grunge!
