You guys R0ck i just subbed not long ago ,I made you a list of pantera to think about Pantera - Domination (Official Live Video) Pantera Regular People (Conceit) Pantera Shedding Skin PanteraSuicide Note, Pt. 2 · Pantera Live in a Hole Pantera Throes of Rejection
Totally..... I enjoy their reaction so much and how their passion kicks in Resonate to this controlled bullshit.... Unity is near. ... Taking powers back from elite was evident... Always Rage Against The Machine 💪👑
As an old white guy, seeing you young kids reacting to this shit the same way I did back in the early 90s gives me life. Keep reacting to RATM and living your lives.
“Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses.” Saying, some of those that wear a badge and a gun also hang with the KKK. In live shows Zach would change the second vs to “some of those that hold office, are the same ones who burn crosses.”
Yep. Its about the oppressive machine that runs the government and how disgusting and racist and corrupt the whole system is. RATM wrote some of the best "fuck the system" songs ever.
seriously. it's almost embarrassing watching reaction vids where the reviewer has no concept of what they're listening to. watched a guy review "youth of a nation" and say it was about self-love.....
Just let them react how they want. Is it that important to you for them to understand every lyric? They haven't heard the song 100 times like you. Get some friends.
I bought this album 25 years ago. I've been fighting the powers that be for a quarter of a century and Zach De La Rocha speaks to me like Martin Luther King spoke to my parents before that. I can't tell you how awesome it is to see young people find this and feel about it the way I did all those years ago. Blow this shit up. Let everybody you know know. These times, Rage Against The Machine you should be heard. Good on you, little homies.
Ah... I remember those days, I had a flatmate who was obsessed about Xfactor. I tried explaining this song to them and why it was better than the cheap Xfactor pop star (who'd gain nothing from their contract and be forgotten in a year). Nope, still obsessed, couldn't get the message.
@@plasmakitten4261 What does an economic system have to do with a cultural issue like racism? And worse, particularly american issue, because you have a lot of capitalist countries in Europe and Asia where things like this never happen, and where racism exists obviously but it is minor compared to your country, I love the states but you americans give a relevance to pigmentation never seen in anywhere else.
@@danibaltr9742 first of all, racism is an exceptional problem in the US but it is very much apparent to anyone not blinded by nationalism that it has a strong presence in every Western nation. Second, racism is inherently linked to capitlism because racism is profitable for the rich white man. It allows him to divide the poor against each other. Back in the day, it even allowed him to justify things like the slave trade and colonization, all of which were immensely racist and immensely profitable. The link between supressing the non white and making money is never going to be shattered. Thus, capitalism has no praxis to solve racism.
@@plasmakitten4261 Capitalism is just an economic system, which since the industrialization got most of the population out of poverty, and obviously the rich were made richer, we live far better now than before capitalism, I can say as a south-american that the experiments of socialism and economics controlled by the government only brought us poverty and misery, don't follow our path.
@@danibaltr9742 you're confusing capitalism with industrialization. Industrialization, science, and other forms of progress have given us better lives; capitalism disproportionately awards those improvements to the richest. I'd generally tend to agree that socialist states have failed historically in South America, but most of the reason for that is every time one is doing well, the CIA topples it -_-
His paternal great-uncle was the first elected president of Kenya, and his father was Kenya's first ambassador the UN. Unfortunately he denied paternity of Tom, so he was raised alone by his Irish-Italian mother. His mother was a US history teacher at his school and taught both him and Tool guitarist Adam Jones; the two of them played together in a band called Electric Sheep in 1982 (with him on guitar and Jones on bass) and Morello was actually the one who introduced Jones and Maynard James Keenan to Danny Carey when they both moved to LA. And it goes without saying that he's one of the most brilliant guitarists who ever lived.
Honest opinion: I love y’all’s energy with these reactions, but I think y’all may need to pay closer attention to lyrics, especially with songs like this. It will had more value to your reactions and give you a better understanding of the music you are discovering. That being said, keep it up! Your channel is becoming a daily visit for me 😁
Shawna Hawkins I agree! This is the type of song that opens people’s eyes to what really matters. This is what I was listening to in high school 20 years ago and is still just as relevant today as it was back then.
I think they are blessed as they clearly don't know what "burning cross" means and its completely ok as i doubt they know what Ku Klux Klan is either. No need to remind them of something they should be spared. Maybe nobody told them for a reason.
@@realfoodrefrigerator9338 No joke? That’s awesome! Of course, I was at the New Orleans Lolapalooza in 1993 - Lolapalooza used to tour. Where were you?? 👍💖
@@realfoodrefrigerator9338 That is SO COOL! Lolapalooza used to be so awesome - a touring “tour de force” with the best alternative and grunge bands. I made it to the 1994 show in New Orleans, too, but I think I only made Lolapalooza 3 and 4 (my senior year of HS and my freshman year of college at LSU). After that, we always hit bands on their own tours (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Tool, etc.). So fun to reminisce with someone who was there! 💖👍
all the rage and shits the same. The people in the crowd are now middle aged white dudes who voted for trump at a 80% pace. They were listening but not Listening.
@@lesslycarthan956 Google Rodney King + Stacey Koon, the officers were acquitted of state charges in 1992 by a mostly-white jury, sparking violent protests that claimed dozens of lives. As a result, King's name became synonymous with the issue of police brutality.
GenXer here! This was my shit back in the day! I love that you both love music - your reactions are so fun. Sadly the message here is as timely as it was in ‘93. Just remember- you are our future, stay strong, stay informed, know your rights, always know your worth. #BLM
Bro I grew up in the 70's n 80's when this was everyday life. Throwing hands was just part of all that. Rage was actually outlawed for awhile because they were supposed to be too radical. Shit was real in the day.💯💯💯😎
Shit is pretty real now too i mean segregation is legal again racism is at an all time high i mean I don’t know what it was like back in the 70s and 80s I’m 27 and I’ve never seen it this bad before this country is going to shit Joe Biden is president for fuck sake
“Those who died are justified. By wearing the badge, they’re your chosen whites.”-whenever cops are killed they are honored and lauded as heroes. “You justify those that died. By wearing the badge, they’re your chosen whites.”-Looks similar, but the few differences change the entire meaning. Whenever people are killed by the police, particularly black people, everyone is quick to justify their killing simply by virtue of the badge. How many times have blacks been killed by police and the media digs up the victim’s entire backstory and every little thing they have done wrong in their lives? They paint them as criminals so as to deflect from the issue that they were murdered by a man with a badge.
Zakk goes to the aid of a crowd member who was being roughed up by security in this video. He was famous for stopping gigs if security got out of hand or a member of the audience was in trouble, he also called out male audience members for groping female crowd surfers.
I loved that showdown. The security guy was steaming but he knew he couldn't do anything because he was facing the lead singer of the band and would have been destroyed if he tried anything.
@@millahnna My sympathies because you really did miss out. They were the first concert I ever went to by myself when I was thirteen and I still remember the pit and stage diving. One of the best concerts of all time.
im a 62 year old white man and love this music and it represents a defiance against injustice that affects black and white, this band is both and we need to unite against injustice for all
She’s adorable, can’t control herself. Smacking her hands into 💩. Just imagine being around thousands of people with this live and blaring! Been there , intense show!!!!
We’ve Never learned our lessons..from OLD rage against the machine to Sublime singing about the Rodney King riots...it’s so sad. I hope changing FINALLY comes.
Rage is timeless. This song was inspired by Rodney King but that crap is still going on. I've been lucky enough to see them a few times. The music is pure energy and politics. They inspired me to build "Burn Wall Street".
While I appreciate you have found RATM, I would hope that you would understand the message and reflect that. The music is amazing, but only secondary to the message.
One of the most transcendent experiences I've ever had as a concertgoer was standing in that arena in 1996 with both fingers raised to the sky and screaming "FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME" until my throat was ripped raw. RATM is an experience like no other, and they paved the way for my favorite breed of music - the beautiful rap-metal fusion.
The last 30 mins, I've been watching videos of people discovering RATM for the first time and its my new favorite thing. Everyone needs to RAGE a little, man ✊✊

Fishbone, Skindred and Dub War are a few other bands that successfully pull off crossing those genres! Well worth a listen if you don't already know them.
"Some of those that work forces"= police "Are the same that burn crosses"= kkk These white kids in the mid 90's were saying the same shit as BLM is today. Not that they were the first to say it, white or black, but it just goes to show how little has changed. For more conscious old school stuff that is still relevant, I would love to see y'all react to Ice Cube's A Bird In The Hand, from the early 90's. Kendrick Lamar sampled it on his To Pimp A Butterfly album.
@@natescott3832 those that work forces is not the police, the police is "the forces": the government work the forces ( The GOP has ben going roge for a long long time) its all old money
As a person who reacts to all music (classical, opera, rock, rap, jazz, film score, etc...) with hip hop sensibilities and with the classic hip hop hand, this is so fuckin refreshing to watch. It's great to see other folks react the way I react to music... eyes closed, bobbing your head and breaking your neck, and making faces like "this shit hurts so good"
I think best lyric in this song is "some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses". Also " You're wearing your badge and you're cloaked in white". Powerful writing right there because it is true.
I can't be mad, when I heard this song when I was young I had the same reaction, and it wasn't as easy to look up lyrics. forget a smartphone, I didn't even have a computer. thought it was about being a non-conformist resisting authority doing your own thing, but a lot of people completely missed the message about police brutality and racist cops. we are paying for it
Such an astute comment. Heard this song so many times in my young twenties and just thought it was rad... im 33 now and a few years back I listened to the words...
This happens a lot. In the middle of the Mccarthy era, when maybe the worst thing you could be was a communist, every kid was taught to sing This Land Is Your Land by Woody Guthrie. The same people who hated communism were teaching kids a song that was written by a communist. Not only that, the song was preaching communist values, lol. This phenomenon speaks to the subversive power of art to reach the minds of the brainwashed and plant seeds that can sprout into resistance.
@@natescott3832 Fortunate Son is the same way, everyone treats it like it's some patriotic anthem (probably cause its genre has been ruined and filled with nationalist crap since then) even though it's clearly an anti-privilege and anti-war theme. All I'm gonna say is that the conservative US order is lucky that the Soviet Union collapsed at the end of the 80s, because if US art culture had continued to develop the same way against the backdrop of endless anti-communist propaganda, the generational backlash could have had some very dramatic effects. It's sad how in the 90s a lot of the energy that was built in the 80s counterculture just went down the drain.
Rage was awake before the ‘woke’ crowd knew how to tell time, if you know what I mean. The message is worth digging into - will blow your mind even more.
"Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses" the Klan been part of the police for a minute now. I'm loving this right here, something about watching others get the same hype from this music as me is great.

@Akashic Samadhi RAGE got in a lot of people's heads in the government. They started a smear campaign on them. It culminated when they taped "Sleep now in the fire". Check it out if you havent seen it.
I remember that, I also remember The Wildhearts playing live on Top of the Pops two weeks in a row with the song 'I wanna go where the people go' and for two weeks straight, sang the line 'I wanna be where the cunts like me are buried six feet underground' live to the nation at 7.30 on a thursday evening. good times
They were suppose to go on a summer reunion tour with Run The Jewels co-headlining, but then the pandemic hit and cancelled everything. They are also eligible for induction into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, but, with two opportunities, have not made the cut yet.
No they weren't. They changed it to "some of those that burn crosses are the ones who hold office" for the live version. They weren't forced into anything
Paul Kersey they is most likely the general public. Then the band and their fans were considered rebellious and trouble makers but here we are today and most of the country is preaching what they did then. Hope that explained it
