I will say this; as a drummer, other instruments are often left at my house. one of my favorite things to do has always been turning on some Incubus or similar artist and playing bass along with the songs. it's fun! bass guitarists are underrated.

After Rock Hall founder Jann Wenner was outed as a garbage human, most of the band decided that they would decline their induction - except Tom Morello who's a member of the voting body. My bud wanted me to go with him, the 200$ was a bit of a shock, seemed pretty corporate, but I thought ok, Morello was a pretty innovative player. They cancelled 3 times over the course of 2 years, it soured me on the whole thing.
I’m leaving this comments before watching the video my theory on why they are breaking up. They don’t rage against the machine anymore. They rage for it they’ve gone woke and think pandering for the government is bad ass, not sustainable.
I’m glad Timmy C shared his side of the story. It’s upsetting to hear one of my favorite bands don’t know what to do anymore. Do they want to continue? Do they want to stop for good? Their actions have an affect, and fans will always remember them.
They could be playing down the street for free and I would avoid it. Loved them say them outside the Democratic convention in 2000 then stood off with the LAPD downtown. Was there when the fans lit the seats on fire at the Palace in a riot in Auburn Hills. Was insane. But they raging for the establishment these days. Wouldn’t be surprised if they have pronouns in their email signatures.
That performance was most likely funded by The Machine Think about it. If they were truly what they said they were . A major label would not have signed them. These guys were never even on an indie label.

I think Zack is the one that never wanted to do this. Going way back, I don't think he ever really felt right about becoming huge corporate rock stars. He's the one that backed out a long time ago, while Tom was the main one to push forward staying in the limelight with Audioslave. I think Brad and Tim just went along with it because they wanted to play music. But the way I've always seen it is Tom is the biggest sellout, while Zach is the one that wanted to stay true to himself. He did One Day As A Lion but never tried to push it so hard to be corporate radio darlings. I think with this more recent reunion, Zach just felt like it was too much. Not trying to say Zach is perfect, but I have respect for him. He's not the one that ever felt comfortable about raging in unison with the machine.

WAY, way, way back in the day when Rage first kind of split up and they went off to do the thing with Chris Cornell, Audioslave, there was already rumors and statements being made that Rage was never going to bet back together again. I honestly don't remember why they got back together to do the shows they had setup, but I also remember people sharing pictures of Zach at like a book signing or something and they were saying that he was looking bad or overweight, they were not being very flattering of the singer, that's all I remember. So the statement being made that they are no longer going to be doing shows or performing together as of now doesn't seem that far fetched or wild to me. It seems like it's what some members have been wanting for a long time anyway, so everybody should move on to bigger and better things, hopefully. As far as Tim, I really hope he continues to do well. He is correct in that most bassists are the last to know lol. If anyone lives the life of a hired gun it's going to be the bass player lmao!! He's a badass dude. I hope he is able to beat cancers ass and rock out for many more years to come. I have always envied his play style and his explosiveness on stage.

@@jimdarhower4945for sure, but there is I think a difference in the role John Paul Jones takes compared to Commerford. Since Morello does a lot more textural stuff there’s more focus on Tim to hold it down, where usually Jones would mainly just have to do that in guitar solos. You’re absolutely right, but there is I think a difference in the approach writing wise

I have always wanted to see them live...but they are overhyped and overrated...not paying over $60 to see them, I just saw KoRn and Helmet for like $50 and both of those bands are miles better than RATM. 5:22 - That's the thing. "Big financial opportunity" I think this talk is the kind of talk that would piss Zack off. You get paid pretty well, tour, go to luxury hotels, buy expensive stuff, and suddenly "the machine" isn't so bad anymore. I think they stopped because they were becoming part of "the machine" and Zack knew this.
You can see the difference in their motivations with what they did after Rage. Tom and the boys went on to make generic corporate rock music and Zack did One Day As A Lion, which had very limited commercial appeal.
Why are you sounding so optimistic about them continuing? Tim openly admitted in his statement that he is less informed than Brad and Brad himself said they are no more. What mental gymnastics did you have to do to conclude from that that they are still going to continue?
So thankful I got to see them on that last stretch of shows, I was just a little too young to have seen them “back in the day” I genuinely hope they can work it out and if not make another album one day, at least tour and embrace the music again 🤘🏻🔥❤️
I think that what Brad Wilk said is actually pretty clear. He said that Tim, Tom, Zach, and himself will never play live again. Not that RATM won't, just never with the original lineup. That's what I hear anyway.

Morello had to go to the induction. When he inducted KISS into The Hall he gave the impression that he was A-OK with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. To sit out the induction would have made him seem like a hypocrite.
My 1st ever live show in Glasgow scotland ratm 16 years old now I'm 45 suffering with health issues so I thought last year I would go to my last gig and it would be ratm in edinburgh.... Thats 1 of the shows that got cancelled so I was upset to put it miledly
