Raghupur Fort Trek is one of the best kept secrets of the Tirthan Valley, in Himachal Pradesh. The 3 km trek, starting from Jalori Pass, a high mountain pass, at 10.000ft above sea level, goes through dense oak forests, and lush green vast meadows or Bugyals, as we say in Hills.
The fort is believed to have been built by the Mandi rulers in the 16th century. It was used as a strategic fort to protect the valley from invaders. The fort is in a state of ruins, but the walls and bastions are still standing.
We trekked in Monsoon, and as the clouds descend lower, they envelop the hills in a veil of ethereal mist. This misty embrace softens the rugged contours of the landscape, lending it an air of mystery and enchantment. Walking through these misty lanes is like stepping into a fairytale realm.
