THE BEST! The first and only guy with: - Good quality voice recording - A calm and interesting manner - A clear but not cringe or patronising tone - Accessible and upbeat in a genuine manner. So happy to find this channel. No stupid TECHNO intros, no cringe RU-vid catchphrases. Well scripted and rehearsed, not just awkwardly falling over conversation during a let's play. I found my niche and I'll tell others. Keep it up!
Welcome to the channel,I can say from personal experience that this is the right channel to learn anything and everything about ark.If you want to learn more about the ark consider going to his twitch,he always answers every question.
I'm brand new to ARK and I'm so happy I found your channel. You've helped me feel less overwhelmed with the game overall and it's been a fun experience! Thank you for your awesome videos!
Good timing! Just getting into Ragnarok. Looking forward to your tips as always. Note: I chose "SW Seaside", very near your suggestion as my main-base, was very happy to see it as one of your favorite locations. I just chose because it looked good and was far from everyone else on my (PVE) server. I didn't know it had such good access to resources.
Quick tip for those late game fanatics. There a secret underwater cave north left of Viking bay. It’s got a part with oxygen and a huge area and the only entrance is water. Recommend it.
Ragnarok has to be one of my favorite maps of all time rivaling Crystal Isles, But I didn't know much about the map layout and resource locations before this video. This really helped!
No way... Ive been waiting for this thanks so much pterafier for ur amazing content you've helped me and probably loads me people through our ark journey and i just want to say you make my day so i hope you have a great day.
A base location for ragnarok I like is the broken castle near Viking bay, if you can clear it out and prevent the spider spawns then its nearby location to dams and its chocky bridge make it a personal favorite of mine and if you run out of space you can build walls between the cliffs and build on those cliffs I too love ragnarok Edit: should probably clarify, I was talking about large tribes fo this, or later in the game as one pump shotgun with 100 shells wouldn't do the trick
Lol once me, my sis and her boyfriend were playing on ragnarok and got stuck in the murder snow. We spen the next hour dying while trying to retrieve out bodies lol.
@@denm6300 lol its such a noob thing to do but it still happened. Once my sisters boyfriend got knocked out it ghost mode cuz he didn't drink and fell through the ground and died. Problem was he was the server host so we all got teleported and died😂😂
YESS THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED im really new to ark and slowly becoming a pro i watch all your videos and it helps alot so i had a choice between island and ragnorok of course i pick ragnorok and i wish i picked island but cant change now i made so much progress so im glad i got a notification for this your one of the best ark youtubers 🙏🏽
i'd love if you'd continue this series :) I watched nearly every video of yours and sadly there are some very interesting parts missing. continue ptera, you are amazing
There is a super secret spot on ragnarok that is LOADED with crystal. The cords are 39 45. It’s a tall spire with a little pond on top and inside the pond are tons of crystal
I looked for a video like this one but for valgero. I hoped that it was a series but i cannot find one from you. It would be amazing to see guides for every map with points similar to this one
For crystal there is a small cave, just next to the big bridge at the big river/clff thingy. There are at least 12 crystal ores, just right next too the plateau base spot. And for metal and obsidian there is a cave down that same river on the right, just as you enter the beach/swamp part. It is hidden behind some big rocks, but you can break those with a pickaxe. On the plateau, down the spiral, there are a lot of obsidian, sand, flint and metal veins. At the top of the plateau there are 3 big veins of metal that you can build around so you always have metal INSIDE your base. For a water base: at the right hadn corner of the map, at the black wyvern pillars and then a bit to the north, tehre is a big cave with stalactites that you can build on with tree platforms. It is connected to the sea. And in that part of the sea most of the big sea creatures live. Edit: omg I never got a heart before!
On my Ark singleplayer I built my base in the highlands cove that is near the lighthouse. In my opinion, it's the best PvE and singleplayer base location, mainly because it gives you quick access to a wyvern trench and a place RICH with metal nodes, as well as the wild rockcarrots and savroot that grow there.
My go-to for Crystal is a bit out of the way in the far desert. Just go straight east from the big desert river ruins; there's some pocketed ground and two big dips of crystal. For cementing paste and polymer, I just bring a Theri to the lava lands to harvest all the bugs. For Obsidian there's a little cave slightly southwest of the volcano with tons of obsidian in it.
I love your vids, I just got into ARK recently and you have helped me in words I cant describe and Ive been looking so long for someone to watch before I found you, thank you so much dude! You're awesome!
There is an easy and jam packed crystal location that I have found!! If you look in a cave next to the lake at 59 58.5 (entrances both behind and besides the waterfall) there is LOADS of easy crystal! Much safer than the wyvern den :) (and closer to my base lol). There is also a bunch of crystal behind the big waterfall at 55 56.8. These two places are very close together so you can quickly get as much crystal as you need. Great video as always, Ptera!
The Ice dungeon can be exploited in Xbox 1(haven't tried others) as you go in, take all the goodies and drops, leave, and then go back inside to find out all the loot has respawned
I really like your content and voice recording. I watch ur videos like its my fav series. Just for entertainment sometimes, but I have learned a lot from ur vids and make sure I remember when I play ark.
If you *really* want tons of crystal, the artifact cave by viking bay has tons. The only problem is that it's up high so bring an argy, griffin, or wyvern.
Thank you so much for this! I returned to the game after a looong time and was very very lost in Ragnarok. This is gonna be very helpful in my travels across the map with some friends!
Living close to the volcano is truly the best: cementing paste, obsidian, metal, crystal name the material you have it, ocean is in front of you, plus mantises used for organic polymer and the griffin spawn is close and the snow biome is close. Definitely build there. Location is around LAT: 16 LON: 51. Just don't build on volcanic soil heatstroke can be a problem. Volcanic cave for wyvern eggs is close and highlands for giga tame are also kinda close.
Very good video, not too long and not too short. You get all the informations you will ever need for playing on Ragnarok. My man, th e south western island are the best building location! I built my base on my second playthrough on Ragnarok just on there. While you built your base in the far right lower corner, I built it in the far left upper corner Island. Just loved the view into the wide sea so much that, built everything into the sea. So much metal around there but the thylas and boars are just brutal if you start out there. Def not an easy starting location. If you fly east from this location, 2 islands, you will get to the black rock deserts, there you can find griffins on the mountain ridges going inland. Just before this, if you go up north following the broken in earth tenches, you will get to a big inland see with a cavern that has alot of crystal. A great location to get them easily without the worry of fighting off wyvern. Generally, they added the best resource locations with the desert upgrade.
This map is awesome, definitely my favorite. I really like this base spot down at the bottom of the map, very near pawprint island, in fact it's just east of there, this small island right off the coast at the very bottom of the map, just before you enter the desert area. It's got everything, it's surrounded by cliffs on all sides (the only dinos I'm not sure about it blocking off are gigas) and the only way on the island without a flyer is by a repaired bridge with stairs leading up. It's right next to silica pearls and metal, and there's plenty of good dinos around to tame, it's even got an oil vein and a cave filled with crystal right underneath. The only thing bad about it is all the goddamn megalania.
Wow I can’t believe you didn’t mention the crystal spot in the desert. It’s a cave that had easily 5-10k crystal in there. I was the first person to find it on my server back in the day and had a great set up in there.
Entrance to this cave is about 85, 50. Follow the stream to get in. There's crystal, metal, and an abundance of raw salt for making preserving salts. And no creatures spawn in here. Much, MUCH better and safer than the location in the video.
ATTENTION I know that rag is the beat map for cementing paste, but when the beaver dams are gone a good way to get cementing paste is to find and kill 2-3 mantis’s or other creature that drops a lot of Chitin, and then if you have a rock golem collect all the stone you can , then if you have a equs with a saddle put all the chitin from the mantis and as much ch stone as you can on the equs then make your cementing paste. This might seem obvious to mid or end game players, but this is one of the best ways to farm cementing paste.
Got my own Hiden cave full of rich metal and big obsidian deposits on rag. Not many people know about it. And I have the cave base located at 26.3 26.9. did away with the winding ramp inside by completely flooring it out and making 2 lvls. My workshop, fridges, incubator, vaults and all that on lower floor leaving the entire width of the cave upstairs for the tames. And I put in stairs so you can still ride Rex's around and go in and out of the lower entrance. If you build it right, there's actually a lot of floor space in there.
dunno about ya'll but i find the glacier hall best place to farm crystals has a few dire bears in the way plus its cold as heck but you dont have to go all the way inside to gather a decent amount of crystal and oil.
So I've been commenting on here quite a bit since I found this channel but hey its the only channel I trust for Ark. Anyways I just started a new "Primitive" game nd was wandering how you felt about doing a series about it seems how alot of the stuff that you mention im these survival videos aren't in Primitive
@@pterafier i also know very little about it but no problem the channel has helped me so much im ready to build a griffin trap this weekend nd see where it takes me
got an idea for a survival handbook vid: a guide on using death to your advantage. you can even make the thumbnail include a sleeping bag and the words "dying like a pro". for instance, there are a couple of ways i personally use death to my advantage. 1. when looting beaver dams, especially if i want to keep the wood, i will place a sleeping bag down, put my dino on passive if i have one, loot, and then let the beavers kill me and respawn at the sleeping bag. just remember to take your armor off first so they dont chew through the durability. once ive died, the beavers loose agro and i then have a full 30min to leisurely move the loot from my corpse to my dino or some container in relative peace. i still use this method even if i dont want the wood and im on a dino for one reason: if the beavers loose agro, i dont have to kill them. if i dont kill them, they will build more dams faster 2. always have a sleeping bag on your hotbar, especially on foot. if you think youre about to die, quickly place it and run away from it to lure whatever is chasing you away from it. this lets you quickly get back to your body and, if you were trying to travel somewhere, you dont have to start your trek all over from your base. if it is an especially dangerous area like the redwoods, periodically place sleeping bags along the way to act as checkpoints 3. best way to gather honey IMO is to build scaffolding up to a wild hive, place a sleeping bag or bed, gather from the hive, let the bees kill you, respawn, loot your corpse, and walk away. i use this method to easily get a day 1 bear to skip getting a trike as my berry gatherer. i still get trikes later for tanking, but bear is best starter dino IMO 4. speaking of taming bears, everyone knows how hard it is to KO them without killing them of you dont have tranq rifle darts yet. so what i do is place sleeping bags/beds and a chest near the cage and every ~5 crossbow shots, i dump my gear into the chest, give the bear a hug, and let it eat my corpse to regain some hp. then take the xbow and darts from the chest and rinse and repeat. if you have a partner, they can sacrifice themselves to the bear instead while you continue injecting it full of drugs. after its KOed, the beds and chest still serve a purpose. place narcs in the chest (or in the bear) and go off doing more productive things than sitting around watching the bear (such as gathering honey) while dododex keeps a timer for the torpor timer. if at any point i dont think i can get back to the bear before it wakes up, i can kill myself and respawn at the beds to quickly feed it and then take my time getting back to my body. though this is kinda a last resort kind of thing.
I started playing ark the other day and I learned a lot on this video also I really like how you didn't ask to like and subscribe left and right like most people on this platform
TYSM, I was looking everywhere for an anky and I had tryed going on dododex and everything but couldn't find any no matter how hard I tryed. However you saved me with Obsidian island. You have earned a sub and a like 👍 Ps it was lvl 150
I know I'm 2 years late. I am back on the Ark after many years of not playing (the end is the best time to join again right? Seems the community is less toxic and everyone's happy now) Oddly enough, I'm a mostly solo player and I stopped playing right before Extinction and Scortched was my favorite map because I had such a terrible time when it first dropped. I got a taste to give it another go out of nowhere and wanted a Norse style play. Ragnarok is everything. This map completely captivated me, I'm about a week deep and about to snag a wyvern egg. My only complaint is I wish we could turn off tek dinosaurs, it throws off the immersive feeling for this world. Terrific video, and content and thanks for helping this old vet give it another go
Griffins are relatively easy games if you have a Wyvern to fly with just make sure to not miss shots and have some raw prime or exceptional kibble and you good
I love the Ragnarok map. I have stuck with Northeast Highlands and the Northwest in the jungles. All the north on the map. The highlands had obsidian, crystal, and metal in a cave and mini cave.
Haven't been to that crystal spot, so not sure how much there is exactly, but I go behind a waterfall up the stream in the desert, there's a lot there.
I play on PVE and I play on the top left of the island it’s at 20 20 it’s good other than to many high levels but they are mostly herbivores so the worst I’ll find is a level 20 dillie or a level 50+ compys probably because there is a wall around where I live
